  1. The washer answer is your best one, or the chain spacer one. To answer your question, no, therer aren't any magura mounts that are 'thicker' to space the cylinder upwards...It seems odd that the mounts arent in the right place on your frame, but I gues every frame has its errors. Also another idea, but not a good one is you could add/glue half a plastic washer to a full plastic washer, and then have the thicker bit at the bottom as this would raise the height of the cylinder. Could be a bit sketchy though

  3. shorter bolts surely? longer bolts are more likely to bottom out but the only diference a longer bolt will make is the amount of thread its in contact with
  4. is this similar to the lynx effect? possibly your local bike shop / halfords as its diamond back? or similar to?
  5. so going off sam's list, Joe would be entered into the Senior category? Why cant he do that? Ok he'll be competing against stock riders but surely thats better than nothing? Maybe theres too many on the team already? Joe's a monster tbf its shit that they're not doing this for him, but in a way, I've always thought british cycling turn their noses up at Trials for having a compleltly different atmosphere of pissing around and having fun compared to roadies. Hope Joe gets in somehow. Maybe they'll read this and change their mind. But as Mark said, lets see what the reason is first, could be wholly legit
  6. I don't know if sandblasting works on anodised surfaces. Usually its caustic soda to remove the anodizing... but shot peening or sand blasting might work.... Why?

  11. yeah click on that site, but a breakdown: theres loads of different series out there, UK nationals, Tyketrials, YMSA etc etc. Each have slight tweaks on the rules but the main things you need to know: BIU Rules Contact between the course + bashring = 0 penalty Contact between the course + pedal = 0 penalty Contact between the course + foot = 1 dab Contact between the course + hand = 5 dabs Contact between the course + Handlebars = 5 dabs Stepping your foot over the frame of your bike and then placing it on the ground = 5 dabs Wheel axles crossing course tape = 5 dabs Wheel axles hanging over course tape, but not touching ground = 0 dabs Front and Rear wheel axles + BB axles must cross THROUGH the gate Maximum 5 dabs per section UCI Rules Contact between the course + bashring = 1 dab Contact between the course + pedal = 1 dab Contact between the course + foot = 1 dab Contact between the course + foot, then pedal, then bashring = 1 dab Contact between the course + pedal, then bashring, then foot = 3 dab Contact between the course + pedal, then foot, then bashring = 2 dab Contact between the course + hand = 5 dabs Contact between the course + Handlebars = 5 dabs Stepping your foot over the frame of your bike and then placing it on the ground = 5 dabs Wheel axles crossing course tape = 5 dabs Wheel axles hanging over course tape, but not touching ground = 0 dabs Front and Rear wheel axles + BB axles must cross THROUGH the gate Maximum 5 dabs per section There are 5 main categories: White, Green, Blue, Red, Yellow. At each section, there are 5 different routes marked out with coloured flags denoting gates. Check with the organiser of the trial to see, but for example, Tyketrials usually ride blue route until theres a deviation to red, yellow or green. Some sections dont follow any blue route, and have a completly seperate route altogether, others are exactly the same. White and Green you dont need to worry about because they're poussin and minime classes for young children. The first "normal" class you can enter, and probably should regardless of level is blue which is intermediate class and typically has BIU rules. It gives you a good way of how comps go, scoring, tactical dabs, nerves etc. Next is red which is expert. Most series have this as UCI rules, and the route is a bit harder. Yellow is elite, usually UCI and usually pretty nuts. Thats it basically. You have a scorecard to carry round and it gets punched at each section by the observer who keeps time and counts your dabs. And yeah, thats pretty much it
  12. Im sure Ive seen some nutter climbing with a bike strapped to his bag in MBUK a few years back. He climbed up (nothing serious) and then rode down on an xc bike. Wheels were out and frame all attached via the webbing on the bag. Ideally the berghaus C7 65+15 or whatever the litreage is (the bioflex one, about £100) would be ideal cos its pretty damn tall and it wont make you offbalance as much as normal bags
  13. Id struggle to open jars I can see this becoming the sexist thread quickly....

  18. awesome stuff, chinkiki for the win Loved the style! Yeah you are rushed, if you just slowed it down and relied on your balance more, you could go muchg bigger, more consistantly cant believe the gap at 0:58... you nutter, gapping to a corner edge! Extreme vertex action going on there Good stuff, ride once I get a tensioner
  19. I remember trying to trials up my university house' staircase on my trials bike drunk. I think I 5'ed it ALOT. Also my friend was living in whistler and was walking back from a night out, and it was a long walk. But then he found a bike which he nicked and rode drunkenly back to his house, laughing all the way.

    Cad Thread

I can't find the last one, so lets start a new one. Its been over a year Im sure so people will have no doubt done more work through boredom or university courses. Heres two I've done recently, Im sure you can recognise them. Post yours away and the program youve used to avoid confusion to viewers Solidworks 2008. Also for stress analysis, is it worth having a catalogue of components to see where stresses are likely to occur? I say this pretending I know how to do stress analysis properly - Ive only played with it... but worth a thought maybe
