oh dear... on another note, how the hell do people manage to snap stems bolts? Ive never snapped a stem to start with...

The problem seemed to be the rules of engagement (back then). 'If you feel threatened' is a *bit* vague. I can understand why they felt threatened by people looking at them if they were carrying weapons, but if a massive guy looks at you in the street, your first impression isn't to shoot him with the gun you're carrying. Im not getting involved in this lol. I can't really imagine what its like to be in Iraq back then so I can't talk

really good video. Hes not powerful, but very very technical which I think I prefered! He did some lines in there which alot of people would think twice about! Ive seen him in some stock videos, but that was aaaages ago. Good to see a newish vid

My winter boots I wear two layers of socks atm, other than that I can't suggest any better biking shoes as I don't know any Base layer wise, for your basic attire, you want Polyester. Its warm, wickable and doesn't ABSORB sweat like cotton. thats the key thing to be honest, cold sweats may be frequently heard of, but regularly ignored. Its the main reason people get cold even when they wear 3 cotton tshirts, all the sweats freezes them! A more expensive baselayer contains merino wool. They're the dogs bollocks, like really. Super super warm, breathable and wickable again, but to be honest if you're still talking about riding in stuff, a merino wool base layer will probably be too warm. Brandwise take your pick. Id go for North face, Berghaus, Helly Hanson, Ice breaker (expensive), mountain hardware/equipment (if they do them). Peter storm is slightly cheaper and not as good - probably contains more cotton so stay away if it does. Other than that go for around £30 for a decent, warm (but not too warm) benchmark

OK guys cheers Ill ignore them for now! My understanding was no beacuse its not LIVE broadcast TV. If you stream say a football match live, then you do, but iPlayer is all recorded stuff so you don't. Feel free for someone to correct me though...

Heres the story. I don't have a TV license because I dont have a TV or watch TV. Im living on my own in my flat and I work 8 - 6:30 ish. After the series of threatening letters from the TV license people, they sent a recent one saying 'be prepared for this investigation to lead to court' (I hadn't replied to any of the previous ones, as I hoped they'd go away. If I had said I didn't need a TV license way back when it started, then they wouldn't have believed me) Ive now replied and sent an E-mail explaining that unless they turn up on a saturday or sunday that I am in the flat (which is unlikely but anyway) they have no chance of being able to come in and find no TV. I got a reply basically saying if no one is in they will try again. This makes my spidey sense tingle.... So they'll turn up, I won't be there, and I'll get another threatening letter saying that they werent allowed in. They may try a few times, but then I know things will get serious again. My question is what happens after they are unable to gain access. I literally have nothing against them searching my flat, I have nothing to hide! But I can't even prove my innocence and I know they'll assume Im watching TV without a license. Has anyway been in this situation before? Anyone have any ideas? The only neighbours I have own the shop below my flat and I may end up having to ask them to let them in, but as it could be anytime at all I can't keep handing them my key every morning just incase they turn up!

Keith Bontrager: "strong, Light And Cheap - Choose Two"
PaRtZ replied to gkms's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
youre saying in the topic is pretty much spot on. Carbon isnt really used for much except handlebars and exotic little bits, but in all seriousness, you would save more weight by going to the toilet and shaving your head before hand. And that doesn't sacrifice the bike strength either. If youre starting trials then a relatively light bike isnt needed, only top pro's who compete really shave the weight to gain that little more height / use a little less energy. For general street riding and having fun (if that happens anymore ) just a bike with the geometry is good enough! As for weights I couldnt say as I have no idea how heavy my bike is. All I know is it works and I enjoy riding it which is good enough for me -
What Tire Do You Use In The Back Of Zoo! Pirnha Long
PaRtZ replied to Revelation's topic in Trials Chat
2.5 fits fine. With a bit of modding to tyre + frame, a 2.6 rubber queen fits too but I reckon you dont want to do that So yeah a front 2.5 maxxis minion dual ply WILL clear without mods. -
Im sure hes joking here. In best conditions paint can dry in 15 minutes, so itd take well over an hour just in drying time between coats! Unless you're only doing one coat per paint type Dont forget to degrease too!
-
the french will buy them Will These will make appearances at trials across Europe, even in trendy Euro nightclubs....
-
be warned. If I find anyone wearing these, I will make a effort to stop, point, and laugh in your face.
-
How about a coat that will keep you dry?

I think when I get prescribed drugs for this im in trouble. a severly chafed penis though will be worth a high five!

Its true For mild depression (not the level to complain about) I coped through drink. I just moved into my own flat, hundreds of miles from the nearest familiar face so naturally I got a wee bit down. Now I don't drink anymore because I got over the loneliness and probably got a bit more insane or whatever...fact is my short term solution solved my problem long term. You definitly need to find the cause of the depression, it WILL be something, even if its as irritating as the lack of progression in your life, or the lack of direction, but most importantly of all, don't just complain about it DO SOMETHING!!!!!! It annoys me the amount of people who are unhappy with there life and know about it (which is a good start) but don't DO anything! You've got to seriously make a DAMN effort and change your life because no one will do it for you. Also look at travelling. Admittedly Ive not gone too far (ie abroad) but I've moved from wales for the year as part of a degree change and its opening my eyes to the real world soo much more. I didn't need to do this as I wasn't feeling depressed, but im glad I did it, and even just the change may preoccupy your mind and take it away from whatevers troubling you. I like to think im incapable of most emotions as im quick to move on and not get attached to stuff, but it can catch everybody out at some point in their life im sure. EDIT: The sex suggestion is a good one too.

thats an awesome video. If anyone is deciding whether to go or not, this video will make you go!!! Im very tempted to go this year if its on? Looked like a seriously great time, not just mad riding but other stuff too. Looks alot better than koxx days to be honest

have you check the power options dave? Usually it s on the control panel and you can choose what happens when you close the lid (hibernate/nothing/shut down etc)

That bike looks incredible! Loving the style!

Ali's Hex video did it for me. Or way back home. Nothing else has really caught my eye...

wait for a day off to catch it, and then capture it. Find the owner and threaten to report them to the rspca for underfeeding it? surely if its come looking for food it must be hungry. Id personally go for the boot it option, but theres an alternative suggestion

Ill be perfectly honest I don't know! Every multipitch Ive done we've just walked off the top round the side Id imagine so though, you set up your top anchor, abseil down to your next anchor, build that anchor, and then the next guy could climb down or abseil off his left gear. There is a method whereby you can loop the rope through an chor point in order to pull it through when youre done, but again this is complicated, a bit dodgy, and there is probably better ways of doing it.... JD there isnt really a dummies guide, as most climbers prefer to pass techniques and knowledge on personally so that bad habits arent made and safe practice maintained. A safe gear placement is one that obviously doesnt come out if pulled downwards on, and as you can imagine, different protection methods are used for different features, different rock types, even different parts of the world! Cams are pretty much uselss in wales because all the rock is slate or limestone, so the cams struggle to get much friction on the rock. Nuts need to be in a slightly tapered V crack so that as the nut travels downwards, it gets more and more stuck due to the sides of the rock creating pressure forces on the nut. The crack also must be flat sided, or splayed inwards, else the nut will simply fall outwards. Unfortunately, as cracks propagate they do tend to splay outwards making good nut placements harder to find. Hexes are the same pretty much, but usually they occupy a much larger space and so are 'posted' behind something, or used as a chock under a large boulder. Ofcourse the slings that are attached to the hex are load bearing so if you're stuck without gear, you can always just use the sling itself to make a placement. Theres no real rules to placing gear. Its your lead. I prefer to place very little gear and focus more on the climbing and get it done. Placing gear takes alot of energy sometimes, as you're holding on with one arm faffing around with your nuts (hur hur) and you get arm pump (one reason why trials riders are good at climbing - they're already aclimatised to arm pump). In these cases I just think 'f**k it' and carry on up a bit more. Some people prefer to go really slowly and place gear every metre of the climb if they can just so they've got the phsycological reassurance that if they fall, they'd be pretty safe or have a backup close.... Heres some pictures I took of a VS multipitch I did with a friend in Llanberis. I lead the first pitch, and my belay was, well, cosy... View from my belay point towards snowdon. Note the terrible use of a yellow hex (top left) Me and my rope management system - Bung it behind a point! Size of the ledge I was stood on, with the pitch I did below Dudley leading the next pitch. He actually had no gear apart from a placement on the left you can see, so if he fell he would have gone a looonnnggg way After shitting his pants a little he was happy to be done

good stuff ali! glad youve brought out a new vid! Its been too long

Hammering in is the wrong term, hence why they're called PLACEments but yeah the leader puts them there when he goes up. So when the leader sets off, he/she carries some/loads of none of these: Nuts. Lumps of metal on a wire basically Hex's. Bigger lumps of extruded aluminum, usually on a sling (like nylon or a thinner/lighter substitute dyneema) Cams. (Pete had a lot of these for that patagonia trip) These involve a lot of explanation to how they work, but im sure you can see their use. So the leader places these in the rock, gets to the top, sets up the belay, then the person seconding the route does something called cleaning the route. As you can guess, its taking out all of these bits of gear that the leader placed (Otherwise they WOULD be left on the route, and prone to lighthearted common thievery in climbing known as crag swag). Whilst the seconder is cleaning the route, these bits of gear are redundant as any falling on the rope will pull on the anchor at the top that the leader has set up and not these lower bits of gear Does that make sense?
