Danny@phatworks replied to EchoSam's topic in Member Organised Rides
I will get to the station at around 11.45, see you all there -
Really enjoyed that one Steve, kind of knew what to expect from the part of it you showed me when I saw you last - it all worked spot on and was very different
-
Cool video Tris, sweet moves - looks like you have found some new lines in Worcester?
-
Nice little video there Steve, all seemed to 'flow' nicely. See you soon mate
-
Bike is looking good Mike

I live in Oxford about a 10 minute bike ride from the city centre, there is loads of riders all around Oxford so you won't have any trouble finding riders

Ok, nice one mate. I think the only one that may be lost for good is the video you started of me. -

Awesome, Nice one Matt! Steve - could you possibly see if you can horde any other old videos together? as I seem to have lost them all apart from 'Worcs4' onwards -

I definitely don't have it anymore... I hoped that I had the video on a disc somewhere with all the other 'oldies' but apparently not - must have got lost moving around so much. The video includes; myself, Steve-A, Tim Stedman, Matt Burrows, Joe Dickinson, Fatmike and others. It was released around the same time as "GetWinter" by Ben Rowlands as it's the same Oxford ride from some of the clips in that video. -
Yes you do once you give them your registration code.

Thinking of riding in Swindon tomorrow, anyone about?

No the point I was trying to make is that most PC's don't come with the Windows CD they are just pre-installed on the system and if they do, it is branded to that machine and can only be used on that specific computer (Yes technically macs are the same but at least you always get a copy of the OS when you buy a mac)
-
That was a seriously good video, nice one Ben and obviously Jack for the amazing riding - I saw the photo of you doing that flip on your facebook so to see it in a video was awesome.

Macs are so much better then PC's: Trying to take a non biased approach......Firstly, Apple provides the operating system on CD when you purchase a new Mac, majority of PC manufactures don't do that and if they do, it is most likely a customized edition of Windows to that vendor e.g. Acer - Also with Macs the OS is built all around the hardware as its all produced by Apple. Windows is built around many hardware manufacturers , so you do get something that little bit more special with Macs and the way they run so smoothly because of that. I don't know why people presume that Macs are only good for movie production and graphics (yes they rule at it!). However OS X is Unix based and with programs like Xcode you can actually write your own programs and applications pretty easily with a little bit of knowledge. It comes with Apache servers built into the OS as well as PHP and with software available like textmate (handles pretty much any web programming language) they are excellent for Web Development etc. Viruses.... the big one - I have never encountered a virus on my Macs, granted that the PC sales compared to Mac is not comparable so viruses are not aimed at Macs in the scale they are with Windows, but even still I believe that Macs are more secure to surf the web and download things without problems. I just find with Windows I spend half my time getting the things to run the programs I want, do the things I want it to do. With Macs productivity is so much faster and in my eyes it has been proven because everyone at my work has been upgraded to Macs and we are finding a major difference in getting tasks done quickly with big software. At the end of the day, PC's live up to their name; 'personal computers' and if your not doing anything beyond watching movies, email, music etc you are probably better off saving your money and getting a PC in all fairness as you will get a much better spec in terms of RAM memory and Hard Disk. I run Windows on my Mac anyway, so effectively I have OS X, Windows and Unix running on one system running smooth as silk- can't really top that....

Amazing skills.....

Yes Max, that was a cool video - good times! enjoyed having you all down. Shame you didn't get an onboard quad bike camera shoot Some funny stacks and Mike footage- legend.

I have setup another user account on my macbook, so have 2 total user accounts both set as admins. When I try and access system preferences on the new account it either crashes my system or just doesn't load. If I try and set up my 'spaces' by going into it via applications I get the following message; "ENABLE STRING - SET_UP_STRING" and it gives me the options to open or cancel string - both of which freezes the computer when clicked on. Secondly, I am trying to access and change multiple things on a subversion repository - I usually can access this no problem by using Terminal, but due to the scenario I have it is easier to use a subversion client to quickly bring up commands. I use Tortoise SVN on a windows system and it works fine..... Mac it just won't let me access anything due to a protocol error even though all the settings are correct, so I was wondering if there is any settings that needs to be changed on my Mac which is preventing access to anything (I am using the same servers my end as I do on Windows and Linux so I know its not a 'paranoid' server or anything like that). Any suggestions??

Does Anyone Wanna Ride Somewhere?

Good point. I have been fine so far but then I have been going out on my own instead of hordes of people... -
Does Anyone Wanna Ride Somewhere?

Hey Nick, I am around Oxford all day....... -
True. I had a King Classic with a stretched spring for about 4 years and never encountered any major problems in general - however it did skip badly on rare occasions (probably due to lack of maintenance) and as a result lead to a nasty crash. Since then I have gone with Hope hubs purely because of confidence reasons. You don't necessarily need a hub tool to remove the internals either but you will run the risk of damaging the internals if it is not done correctly.
