Bike set-ups are completely personal preference, so as you've seen, everyone will tell you different things.
Have a think about what you think you could improve. You've already said that your bars feel a bit too narrow, and by the sounds of it they are!
I had standard Onza 'flat' bars before, which were horrible. They were steel and were so solid! Also leave your hands in a horrible position. I then went to Zoo riser bars, which where a big improvement. They were wider, slightly higher, had a nice bit of flex to them, and best of all kept my hands in a much more comfortable position.
Now I have Trialtech Sport risers, and they're perfect for me. Slightly higher than my Zoos were, and the general shape of them seems to suit me/my set-up nicely.
