It's becasue they (We*) have often only ever encountered trials riders when they have been totally ignoring sketaprk etiquéte and riding across trails, jumping up the sides of boxes and off boxes and getting totally in the way. The key is that there is a massive amount of people who ride trials but are trials riders, you know them turd skill free mongs who can hop a bit. Well they are the ones bmxers meet usually and it then turns into bmxers thinking that trials is wank and trials riders all get in the way. I know some really really good trials riders who i've seen in skateparks and purely through not knowing rather than any ignorance, have caused major troubles for bmxers by riding across them and getting right in the way at the wrong time. You don't have much time for people who get in the way if they don't impress. On the flip side, i've had times where trials riders have stopped a skatepark becasu of what they were doing. When it's impressive, it doesn't matter who you are, you don't mind stopping and watching... Example:- I rode an opening demo at Skegness skatepark on 22nd April 2006 (my birthday ). Ben Slinger and Chris from preston were there too with the onza rig. Ben did some mental gap in the park and the whole place stpped to watch. BMXers came away from there saying WTF that was crazy, guarenteed, they'll respect trials riders in the future. Bongo

Unless you're really good though, even me as a trials rider thinks that the general 'look' of trials is a bit gay. That's not meant as a cocky insult either i genuinly cringe when i think how i looked as a trials rider back in the day lol. All that hopping about which is the control of the sport, now shows itself to me as a lack of control. It just doesn't look cool like bmx!

The reason i've not done the obvious and talked to insurance companies is becasue for the last 3 years i've hidden 6 points from them... I've asked here and had some good advice, so thanks. I've been on money supermarket... Renewal price from Admiral, to whom i've been a customer for 3 years, was £520, with 3 years no claims and no points declared... Money supermarket has brought me Norwich Union, with 3 years no claims and 6 points declared, for £420 IF I WAIT 3 WEEKS UNTIL I'M 25.... £431 if i get insured on 01/04/08 when i'm 25 on 22/04/08. It's worth the £11 to avoid having my car uninsured on my drive for 3 weeks! So £431 everything declared

well, i have 6 points that last years premium didn't take into account as i forgot to tell them... This year i'm not going to forget, so i want all the help i can get lol. I'll wait! 3 points will be 3 years old in July, and the other 3 are 18 months old

Right, i''ve asked a couple of people and had no answer really. I'd ideally like this to be answered by someone who KNOW'S the answer, and has been through the situation or knows someone who definately has. I'm not really after 14 year old helpful people, because their posts add up to about no help. (no disrespect) OK, Insurance due 31/03/08.... i'm 25 on 22/04/08, i can without any problem wait until then to get insured, as i have a bike and work van. Would i get a cheaper premium by waiting that month and being 25 on the date of the insurance beginning?? It's a question i've not been able to google to get an answer. I know being 25 helps, but when it's so close, would it be worth waiting or not...

I think it's the lack of ownership and responsibilty. The denial to things which you just just accept. You have a crow bar. Just say ok yeah i have a crow bar, but no, you have to protest that 'it's not like a huge one' (probably no worse than 50% of 16 - 30 year olds in towns etc on friday and saturday nights...) There are too many excuses. Maybe your attitude doesn't suck day to day, but in this situation, to me, it sucks balls pretty hard (Hotrod quote). It's like the boy who cried wolf. There are only so many times people believe you. Too many lies or excuses and people stop believing you. To get the belief back you gotta own up, take responsibility and say yeah ok, i've done this wrong or that wrong. I shouldn't be able to quote so many excuses from one thread, from one person, about one thing.
