  1. That looks quick off the mark! Paired with a healthy dose of competent driver that's going to surprise some folk around a track or two for sure! I like Kyle's vids, they're all pretty well done and he comes across well. He only started them again recently after stopping while at Merc. Clearly knows his stuff, and he was chatting about offering a proper course recently (though I expect it'd be at "F1 aerodynamicist teaches you aero" cost, which rules me out to be honest!) TT is still a way off yet, which won't be helped by another lockdown which has made work mental. Engine is hung off its own mounts, but the subframe isn't back in yet plus I need to make up a downpipe and a few other bits before I think about turning the key at all. I'm in two minds at the mo - part of me wants to get those bits done, throw the subframe and factory suspension/brakes back on to run the engine in, then work through tidying it all up bit by bit. The other side of me thinks I should do it once and do it right, even if a little slower. Need to get rid of the Leon first really - may pinch the nice bits off it first but not sure (pulled the standalone ECU out the other night, it's got a set of Corbeau seats, and Brembos as standard which the TT didn't etc).
  2. Asymmetric rather than directional perhaps?
  3. Good idea. Although I do like to log dozens f spam reports to give Rich something to do
  4. Woop, working now. MK looks great, and loving the yellow amongst the autumn colours!
  5. It does, but yours isn't showing (at least for me) Here are a couple of mine to help things along. After accidentally buying a TT about a month ago and removing the engine from it, I finally dropped my engine into a car after it sat gathering muchos muchos dust in the garage for a year! Bit of faffing about with gearboxes as I was originally going to put it in the Leon (2wd) and had the box (complete with LSD etc) all mounted up, but now going to give this faux-wheel-drive lark a try, so off with that, standard 4wd box on in its place. It'll probably eat itself, but I'll replace with another stock one if/when it does since they're cheap and then start to look at options. DSG is almost appealing... Added some extra heat shielding to the lines/bulkhead since there'll now be a bigger turbo and exhaust closer to it all. Not a big fan of the blingy gold but it was knocking about so it went on. Not fully wired/plumbed in yet, and some fab work to do yet (downpipe mainly, nothing huge) but it's progress so I'll take it!
  6. That looks great fun, Ads! Are you planning on refitting much in the way of bodywork (for aero, rather than roadworthiness) or just enough to make it slippery and full-munter? Some simple lightweight panels just to redirect flow smoothly around the otherwise messy regions seems sensible? @Wrayvon, glad to hear you're enjoying things too man!
  7. Maybe if you tried harder you could pass with under 200k next time.
  8. I bought a cheap car this week too (well, actually it was 8 days ago but I'm counting it anyway). It's the heaviest car I've ever owned, and is probably in the worst state too. Number plate is entirely appropriate. Going to stick the stroker in it, should be a bit of fun. Either the faux-wheel-drive will help with traction at ~500bhp+ or it'll be dead weight, in which case I'll rip it all out and go fwd with the benefit of the IRS.
  9. Just look at Prawn - there are only 3 races this season in 750MC Roadsports, so things look a little disproportionate since things like safety gear are time-led rather than number-of-races, but the outlay even to do this year is pretty mad. Full new certified safety gear, race licence, race entry, transport, accommodation for race weekends, spares, fresh tyres, brakes, fluids etc. That's not including building the car at all, which is a feat in itself. Sure, you could do the bare minimum and rock up in a questionable heap with the mandatory bits in place and little else, but you want to get at least a baseline of functionality and reliability so to cheap out entirely would be false economy, and what's the point in going if you're not looking to be remotely competitive so you need to reach a certain point. The step from track days to racing seems pretty small at first glance, but if we've learned nothing else this year it's that there's actually a f**king chasm between the two, even for pretty grass roots series. I suppose hillclimbing/other time-judged series might be a little less severe, and are often touted as being a more accessible/affordable way into it, but even then it's not going to be cheap to do it right. @Rob Brodie can probably give a better insight into that than I can though.
  10. Drop the sump and check the oil pickup as those are known to clog and kill things. Breathers/vac hoses can be a bit of a nightmare for splitting, most people just rip out a load of the factory system and replace with a simple catch can setup. Otherwise mostly pretty normal stuff. I haven't had a longitudinal 1.8t but mod options are a little more hard to come by (in that it's not so easy to pick up manifolds, turbos etc as a bolt on) but by the sounds of it you don't want too much from it, so a decent map (nothing peaky on torque, rods lottery above ~300ftlb, but harsh torque spikes are what kills things so can happen below), coupled with a free flowing intake/exhaust and a FMIC will probably get you where you want to be.
  11. I'm with Mike. If there's nothing for you where you are, why stay? I understand there can be plenty of reasons that you might be tied to a place, but from what you've said so far it doesn't seem to be the case other than the finances of relocating?

Oh that's great, very handy in that case!

Great stuff mate, very pleased to see that. What was the process to get YT on top of it in the end? Big effort involved from you and RIcky?
  14. Certainly appears to be an earlier BB7. Decent brake (far better than the later grey ones) Disc appears to be a Hope Mono Trial, maybe 180mm from the photo but obviously easy to check that!
  15. Ah cool. I'll ask around for you, although think the couple I knew of for sale recently are now sold.
  16. For a TFSI, or are you planning to fit it to a 1.8t?
  17. Oh that's a shitter, sorry to hear that mate If it's any consolation, your fab stuff has been looking, er, fab, so provided you can get the word out it should be a relatively easy sell. Might be able to find a few bits I need knocking up and have neither the time nor the skills for, shall start scratching my head!
  18. I never like to assume - the UK is a bit odd compared to some places and it's often considered rude to expect anyone to disclose figures That's properly awesome though man, really nice to hear you're doing well from it and fingers crossed it keeps going! As some comparison from the bottom end of things (our channel only just hit 2k subs during lockdown) we've gone from a couple of quid a month to about £20. Hopefully we can keep putting out some regular content and once race season starts it'll be some (hopefully!) engaging content and keep the momentum up.
