Yeah I've only read good things about the blackspire guides so thought I'd bite the bullet. I use a superstar plasma on the 456 and it's brillian but they don't do a twin ring, Plus the blackspire is a jockeywheel-less setup so should be fairly silent. The ixs pads seemed brilliant value compared to the 661 kit.

First upgrade arrived this morning, blackspire twinty chain guide, dropping the 42t for a bash and a guide. Never ever use a 42t so its not a problem. IXS hack knee pads turned up too, also booked a few days off work next week to try some new spots which I'm pretty stoked about.

Just around the lake to be honest, tried to make the most of the little woodland bits but it really helped form a decision. Cheers crilin, yeah cannock sounds good to me definitely! We'll have to sort a tf cannock Sunday soon!

Yeah your probably right, there is places you could use it, but I doubt I'd be able to ride it to the level it'd deserve. So pleased with it, been a 20 mile hack around the woods near me and it's very very fun. 650b makes a hell of a lot of sense after riding it. Cheers for the help all, it's been very very much appreciated. I must give a shout out to Rob Nichol at stif too, if anyone's fancying a full build I wouldn't hesitate in getting in contact with those guys.

Just for you Paul, forum uploaded rotated it for some reason? A dropper post will come in good time, to be honest I ran out of money so it'll be a future addition.

Drum roll please... And yes, that's not an alpine . After the 26-27.5 chat, the chat of fox 34's and a few sizing issues with the alpine I hired both bikes out for the day at Rutland cycles. I loved the alpine, seemed very docile, rolled over anything and sucked it up in its stride. The five thou was abit more feisty, kept rolling and felt more like the lapierres I tried. I instantly fell in love with it and ordered one straight after I got home. Plus, there is nowhere in the uk I think you could use the alpine to its full, whereas the fives probably abit more UK friendly. Spec is - Five in 21" Fox 32 floats, 150mm ctd Raceface Chester bar, stem, post and crankset Hope pro2 evos on mavic 650b 319s Slx brake set (these are awesome, really can't rate them enough) Slx triggers, front mech, xt clutch rear I know tats factory spec, but it's bloody lovely. I have no regrets at all about buying Orange, I might have hit more for less money elsewhere but I feel a certain pride in a British build.

The tracking number I've got for my bike is for a package that doesn't exist...... *sighhhhhh*

Yeah it had a straight cut box and drops, did about another 2-3000 miles then it shat a clutch and I just put it to one side for a while. There's nothing wrong with it to be honest, just dunno if a nicely tuned n/a would be abit less hassle.

Sc twin cams never really tickled my pickle, they're not as raw as KAD stuff.

Drop in!?!? you mad!!

It can, but reliability and wallet suffers. The turbo is a cracking motor when it's running, makes strong power without being on the limit, but it doesn't suit mini driving very well.
-
Sounds like it's pulling well Nick, I can't decide wether to persevere with the turbo or swap to a properly sorted n/a...

Style for miles. I liked it

I'd consider stalking the delivery driver till death.

Omgomgomgomgomgomg. My bikes just been built and being posted out tomorrow. Too excited.

I used to run deore arms, xtr lever, plazmatic crv pads with a linear slick cable. No booster thou and it was an awesome brake. It had hold for days and great modulation. Bite wasn't the best but it made up for it in hold. Stick with the vee, once you get used to the feel you'll reep the rewards.

Speak for yourself, the missus just burnt the shit out of tea and I'm famished.

Nice, shame about the armchair on a pole thou..

They're popular enough for something very similar if not the same to pop up again in no time, don't worry too much dude. My dads had problems getting the camper running over the past few weeks after fitting a new motor so I went over to offer fresh eyes, got it running in the end. Specs are- Twin solex 40s, 1641, balanced bottom end, spicy cam(unsure what), alternator conversion, vintage speed exhaust pack. Got up't running today after cleaning the carbs and it's pretty furious for a bus. It wants a good tune but first impressions are good. He's been offered a freeway flyer 5speed for it, but drums all round probably want tending to first before adding any more speed.

Looking good Nick..... Because racebus. .
