So, 1 year and 4 months later I've actually bought a machine. Only a cheapo ebay special to get me going for the time being to see how I get on with it but hopefully I'll amass enough work to warrant a bigger more capable machine.

I'm struggling to see the connection between a f**kedpile clio 182 and a Bentley turbo r..

Always a good day when it's chippy for dinner

True, but after watching an episode a few months back where in 15/20 minutes they adjusted the front end to line up and arranged some boot lock setup setup I just gave up. If updates came weekly and that was progress I could get on board with that but when it's a month or more for a 20 minute episode of making brackets it's just not interesting to me. I guess it's just my interest in cars is at an all time low and they're just a vehicle to me so it takes a pretty special build to get me interested.
-
I get it that it's a pretty special build. But there's far more amazing stuff on turbominis..

They've diagnosed it as bad diesel. It was a problem around here with a certain petrol station that looks like it's resurfaced

So 2 injectors, a fuel pump and a hefty garage bill were rocking again! Shame it'll be going up for sale in a few days as I've fallen out with the thing I can't be the only one that doesn't give a shit about project binky??

Fkin' caddy broke down yesterday! Driving back from work I was coming down the A38 about 70ish and it stuttered, only for a split second. Then about half a mile later it lost power and wouldn't pull anything over 1300rpm, I managed to get off the dual carriageway and onto a side road. A yellow coil light was flashing on the dash and it idled like a bag-o-shite. After 10 minutes or so the light still flickered but it idled considerable better. I drove up and down the lane a couple of times and it settled back to its previous state. AA came out, cleared the fault codes which removed the light but 100 yards down the road it was back so towed home. I can't remember the diagnostics code or description exactly but it refered to a failure in communication between ignition and components I think. AA monkey seemed to think that there's a wiring loom that runs into the rocker cover that gets covered in oil and turns brittle that can cause abit of havoc. Anyone had anything like this? It's a 1.6tdi 2011.

Tappy sound will probably go away once it's had a good run and chance for oil to get around the nooks and crannies. Good work Mike, pleased it's coming together for you.

If you have any ideas Paul just knock one up and get it on social media as fast as you can and as cheaply as you can. I don't mean in the sense of rush and put out something shit, just push yourself with a deadline to get something moving by April etc. If it's a 3d printed cup holder for a 924 or some sort of agricultural fitting that costs you pennies but could be a 20-30 quid item that fits in a jiffy bag. It might seem stupid but 10x£20 a week is a low, but basic wage, any side work you take on extra is all pocket money. That's how I look at it anyway. I paint cupboard doors for the kitchen show room next to my unit, to be honest I loathe doing them, but a kitchen a week and it's my rent and basic wage covered. The rest of the month I do the work I enjoy and don't have to get too stressed, it's up-to me to bring home more money but I know my basic wage/overheads are covered. All my business has grown from social media. I took on my unit, got it something like I wanted using my savings then just threw pictures of what I do to the right audiences and it took off from there, I never thought it would be a living but with the avenues that have become available I'm set for 5/7 years atleast, my calenders booked up for the next year. My dads self employed also, runs a motor factors. Hes very good at his job, he's business minded and has always got his head in the game. Recently his business has took abit of a knock, cost of stock has risen after brexit, not so many people having cars repaired or valeted. The only thing really carrying his place at the minute is the restoration side of things, the Ford fans and VW nuts. Not many people want to have the bumper scuff on there 63 reg 3 series repaired, but the same bloke thinks nothing of a 5k respray on his '65 split screen bus. A friend of mine is a neon sign maker. He was originally an old fashioned sign writer but took a punt on neon, he's got contracts with Pizza Hut, Frankie and Benny's, Next and a few others. Again it's not a necessity but it's a good living for him. I placed an order with him last year and I've still got 8 months wait before he starts it. Your in such a fortunate position to have your workshop and tooling ready to go. If your workshop is free to then your such a jammy b*****d. I've seen some of your creations on here and know your not a daft lad, quite the opposite, really push yourself to find a weird niche your enthusiastic about and work it hard. Be it Porsche parts or fab, motorbike repairs/building or furniture from old agricultural items. As I said before there's always a market for whatever you can dream up, just make sure you enjoy it and your good at it.

Has it been deleted from catch up yet?? A few more machines arrived this morning's a customer I picked up in Switzerland. Happy to say it's my 3rd work load for him so he must be pleased with previous work. Workshops chockablock at minute though!

Just make up a job Paul and stick to your guns, if you wanna produce 3d printed replica swords and paint them to match some film props (wild example there) just go for it and hold your nerve. A guy I used to work with left his job to build stage props for theatre and film, started off making enough to get by, then in a years time was sub contracted to build darleks for Dr Who. His job was so unnecessary, but it came up trumps for him! I think people look at jobs wrong, if you offer a service, or can build something, even if it's so stupid it seems like it won't work, it will as there will be an audience out there for you to exploit. Whatever your idea there's always someone else thinking the same/similar. Nobody needs an iPad, nobody needs a TV, nobody needs a £5000 watch but there's always a demand and audience. Just do what you enjoy and it'll fall into place. My jobs bullshit really but it's opened up loads of avenues for me to explore and enjoy. Just gotta point yourself in the right direction and bite the bullet. Have you any ideas Paul?

Congratulations, we all knew your opinion was correct and Dan just backed it up. Well done on always being right.

Your not alone Mike. #I'mTigerWoods

^^ Haha, that was ridiculous. Does anyone still have the picture of Kev(fishfingerer), Joe (Rothwell??) Skoze and a few others in some weird half naked sausage fest sandwich?? Dunno why I remember that. I was using my old computer the other day and it moaned about lack of HD space and things I could remove/tidy up. It was a sad day when I deleted my 2.5gb folder full of trials videos :(. Had to watch TRA England one last time! I dunno where I fell out of love with trials, think it's just getting older. I know when I was 15/16 (shit, 13 years ago!) there was nothing else I even cared about! I lost out on a few years when I turned 18, then got back into it major when I started riding with Ben Robert's, flipp, Josh and revolver. Went on a few big group rides then I just stopped. Guess I was about 23? Just lost the love, built a MTB and never looked back. I bought a leeson about a year ago then sold it after spending money on it realising I was never going to use it. I replaced my trials with MTB and enjoy that far more then ever, the scenes good, it's more accessible and it's something I enjoy on my own as much as a group. I do kinda miss it, hanging around Nottingham city at 2.30am with Tobias and whoever else came along was awesome. Just guess life gets in the way and you get the same enjoyment from other hobbies that you once did with trials. Hobbies that don't include helicoiling f**ked brake mounts, replacing snapped BBs, trying wheels and fixing chains.

Possibly not 4l but atleast 2-2.5l, I'm starting to get used to the meal set outs so I'm not starving before my meals, just ready for them. I lost 5.5 lb last week
