  1. The units I've rented from private landlords basically put you responsible for everything, bills, damages, rates etc, and they are considerably more expensive. For the kind of money you're looking at, it'll be as I said, strictly for storing shit and nothing more.
  2. You have to declare any accident regardless of the circumstances or fault, we've established that...
  3. My old council lockup was about £3 a week about 10 years ago, I got more shit stolen from it than I would have just leaving it all over the street... They're so cheap because they generally have no electric, which is more of a pain in the arse than you could ever imagine. Contracts usually state that the car stored has to be in such a condition that you could drive it away at a minutes notice, so no major projects... Which everyone ignores
  4. Regardless, if you're moving backwards, look backwards, can see a lot more a lot easier that way!
  5. Actually look behind you rather than only using mirrors, only really need the passenger wing mirror to judge where the curb is. My mate's about to go in for his test, took him out for a drive in his car with his L plates on, can't quite get my head around why his instructor is teaching him to only use mirrors, makes it really hard!
  6. £800 for wax?! Fuuuck off, your car isn't even worth that!
  7. Won a car on eBay on behalf of a friend, it's a black 3 door A3 1.8t (180bhp) quattro, I'll be picking it up on Weds, no pics til then so a damn boring post (maybe Jardo will appreciate) I would add though, this is the friends first car!
  8. I've got a Nokia Lumia 710, because I like Nokia, am familiar with Windows, know nothing about technology, it does more than I'll ever need it to do, its £10 a month (with various benefits and free shit) and they gave me £40 to have it too. Generally it was and is a massive win.
  9. I got as far as "before your 20", and I'm out. There's been a million of these "funny" ads, they always sell for way over the true value, never actually sell, and get exponentially less funny.
  10. Sell it to whoever comes up with the money first, too many people happy to dick about in the world, don't waste your time

    Fear of flying

First flight would have been when I was 11 or 12? Was fine for a few years until a load of turbulence, lights out, asking if there was a doctor on board then got worse and worse and ended up avoiding flying altogether for 6 or so years... Then that flight was fine (but forced into it in bad circumstances which I may have associated with the flight?), half a dozen flights since have been fine, thinking out loud again

    Fear of flying

You can! Anyway, both links are great, reading Mark's link is identifying what I'm scared of more than anything, so it's lack of control, changes in altitude (taking off and turbulence as said), changes in engine noise (as I'm forever listening for problems with my cars engines), the "hanging there" thing, so just a general lack of understanding of how shit works I guess. Then, a load of "what if" scenarios, and a couple of slightly rough flights in the past that I've massively exaggerated in my head and allowed myself to stew and get worked up about nothing. According to that site's test to see how scared I am though, I am apparently top end of normal, bottom end of fearful, which is about what I expected to be honest, I do talk it up a lot and convince myself it's all worse than it is, dismissing the other couple of dozen perfect flights I've been on. Time to think different! Kinda just thinking out loud with that lot, interested to hear other people with similar thought patterns and how they deal/dealt with it

    Fear of flying

Statistically of course, but I might walk away from a car crash, or at least be buoyant long enough to be saved if a boat sunk... I can't fly I'll have a read of those links when I get on a computer, very helpful so far though lads

    Fear of flying

I have been known to shit a brick and try and run away from an airport (when I was much younger), often can't sleep the night before, throw up with nerves sometimes etc. What I don't really like much is the fact its a 100ton+ vehicle doing 600mph, 35,000 feet in the air mainly taking off and turbulence sets me off though...
  15. Again, Jardo, it sounds like you're writing an advert, I know you're in sales, and like all your gayboy car washy stuff but talk like a real person for once!

    Fear of flying

This is as good a place as any to ask, anyone else hate it? Overcome your fear? Have good coping methods etc? Currently reading a self help book and tried valium last time (which helped). Alcohol helped a lot the previous times, but weeing is quite a challenge when I'm not that keen even getting out of my seat
  17. I usually grow my beard for the 3 months over winter, then treat myself to a trip to the barbers in spring, absolutely love it
  18. There's no difference between the years If rust is a bother, then Audi 80/90's of a similar vintage are galvanised, et voila!
  19. Mk3 is a good call, but why only 97 1.4s? They're all as bombproof as each other, my 95 1.9 diesel ran on pure veg oil and only ever needed 1 fuel filter, my 96 16v's engine still lives on in a MK2 4 years later... I'll broaden my 90s Audi suggestion to any 90s VAG, all variations on a theme =)
  20. 90s Audis, any of them really, cheap as hell and will take a beating all day long =)
  21. It does sound like you've read too much marketing spiel and have adopted it as a language

    Betting

I used to work in a sports bar, and since I hate sport so much the only way I could make it interesting was to pop to Ladbrokes next door and put on a few pence at a time. Best return was £16 from a 23p scorecast
  24. If you want real life stories and points of view then go on erowid.org and fill yer boots Otherwise you're going to end up with a thread full of stoners droning on about what a wonderful drug weed is
