Polished with G-Tech Q5763b-Compound Z154X to within an inch of it's life.

That's the one! Cheers.

Sorry - missed this. 104BCD I think.

Ah sweet - he's probably done something like that before then? If it's a few year thing and you want it to look decent I'd try and pull a panel off another car I think, else the repair will stick out like a sore thumb to a potential new owner... Yeah, I know what you mean there! It's a balance though. With the extra corner speed my tyres allowed, you'd have to drop back a lot to make that sort of move work (10:10 in the video is a perfect example of how far back I'd have to be to not get baulked at the apex), and then you're into 'another car diving down your inside and f**king you right up' territory, and might not even get past with a slipstream! There will have been a few instances were it was possible though I'm sure, I just got a bit carried away haha.

It is feasible (it's the same deal on MX-5s), but as you said a lot of work. How 'proper' do you want the repair? Will a bit of 0.6mm steel plate and some careful bashing and fillering do the job? Yeah, the other series is a bit thin on the ground in terms of cars, so this was a whole new ballgame! Chicane - definitely would have liked to carry more speed there, it's tricky though as there were a lot of 'offs' there, usually 2 or 3 abreast on the brakes, plus sometimes it's better to give yourself a bit of space rather than collect a spinner... It was a pretty intense few minutes so I don't actually recall any saves. I did notice in the video an instance of opposite lock mid corner while looking to the side though, it's weird but you have to try and be completely subconscious with your driving while it's so packed out. Yesterday after race 1, for the first time in years, I had the adrenaline shakes - today has been a serious downer... haha.

Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread

On a more serious note - why would you be worried about that? The idea of being in a relationship is that you are still your own person, just the other half makes it better for you. If they wanna sod off and do something 'selfish' for a bit, then fair play I say. -

That's the idea. -
Erm, they are pretty much the same apart from tastier engines. One guy was on about having a 70 thou head skim (a car that makes 8 more hub bhp than mine has 40 thou off his head!), nuts. They can run on either Hankook Ventus V12 or Kumho KU31 Ecsta Sport. One of the series organisers tested them back to back (same day, same car, same conditions) against Nankang NS2Rs, which is what I was using, and found a higher apex speed of 5-6mph on the Nankangs but a 1-2mph slower terminal speed at the end of the straight! (Coppice at Donington: http://www.btcc.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Donington-v2.jpg) Video...

Apparently so You can see it on the video, I'll bash it up later. Nah, we think it might be down to tyres. The other guys are on a less grippy tyre (we just dabbled for one race so the organisers let us use whatever tyres we had rather than the control tyre), which meant I could carry more speed in the bends but also seemed to end up with a lower terminal speed at the end of the straight due to more scrub... Still gonna stick the car on a dyno to check though.

Raced in a different MX-5 series today, all Mk1s - 35 of them all on the same grid! When the lap time is under 1:30 mins, it gets a bit hectic... Here's a screenshot from my video (which I'll post up later), over half way into the race - still 9 cars in a tight bunch. Absolutely epic fun! (3 in my mirror, me, 5 ahead, and then another which is a little bit further ahead so I didn't count it) Was interesting to see my pace compared with a greater spread of drivers. Wasn't too bad, qualified 10th despite not having a clear lap, probably would have got top 6 with a clear one. Got mugged on every straight in the races though, finished 14th and 19th... Sam - that is balls about your engine. How come it cooked? Was the temp gauge faulty?
-
Hmm, I'm not sure how an average driver can turn aroubd a team with an OK car and an underpowered engine, but I'm glad you're happy, lol.
-
Ah, yeah, give them a try If you can afford a 2nd set of wheels then it's a good idea, you'll always have some road legal tyres to get home on then (and the 15s will make it handle better)! For the camera mount... this is the sort of thing you can make: http://www.kiasoulforums.com/attachments/soul-general-discussion/9392d1328097619-our-curosity-anyone-shoot-video-their-soul-gopro-3.jpg Try and get the camera at approximately driver's eye level, that usually works well.

I was actually going to suggest T1Rs if the car was used a fair bit on the road too, absolutely nothing wrong with them for track use but if you drive like a tit (full lock and full throttle at the same time!) they will wear fast. Can you fit 15s? Could be worth a look for future, better choice of cheaper tyres. 888s are good but don't come with a lot of tread and won't clear standing water very well at all. Cracking in the dry though. GoPro... You may be able to fashion a mount that fits around the headrest in the drivers seat, the other way if you don't have a cage is a auction mount, but most tracks don't like them. Knockhill seem to be pretty chilled, but worth an ask.

Good work Sam, very satisfying I hope the sump has sealed properly, haha.
-
Glad it worked for you also Yeah I agree, it's one of those tiny things that only becomes apparent through customer use. Ideallt you'd pull the lever, then do up the grub screw, then let the lever return, but just turning the allen key without having given clearance first seems to make a mess of the body. Racing Line took this on board and have now machined a boss into the body.

Stick a countersunk head bolt in from the back of the blade. A little more iterative to adjust, but you only need to do it once...
-
Don't worry about the speedo, just get it on track and enjoy it Tyres... I don't think you can go far wrong with Federal RSR-595s for all round sort of use (track, road, wet, dry).

Try a Z510hx. The K series of chains always stretch a lot. Strength and stretch resistance are exclusive of each other.
-
I'd check that measurement if you can, a pair of chain links is an inch (25.4mm) and you'll probably have about 35 pairs in your chain, so 3% stretch would move the wheel back ~13mm and completely out the back of the dropouts... It sounds like it's just the chain bedding in and you need some larger cams, but I may well be wrong
-
When you say 'stretched', how much (in %)? Under 1% is ok, you might just need bigger snail cams.
