  1. I doubt that. Is that a real-world figure?
  2. Works a treat. Use something that is thin so can run down easily, and won't go sticky with age (such as engine oil).
  3. Haha. Nah, 172s do have stupidly heavy clutches, especially if you haven't re-lubed the cable recently.
  4. I can't argue with that - but if you want to drive a car, all of those points are void I think. Good for getting from A to B, not good if you want to enjoy controlling the piece of machinery. I haven't got time to explain the feeling of a 'perfect' downshift, but it's mega, and you simply can't do it with flappy paddles.
  5. Strange comment from him. Changing gear is part of driving a car for me. Plus auto boxes are heavier and more complicated, which goes against the spirit of making a drivers car IMO. I agree that if you just want a tool to get from A to B then an auto box is nice though.
  6. This is a genuine question - have all the women you've been in relationships with really done this?
  7. I guess you could take 'as intended' to mean 'as the manufacturer of the car intended'. So if you fix the seat down in a car that originally had runners, there's an issue. But I'd agree an MOT tester who failed you on that would be a wanker
  8. Haha, internet sarcasm never comes across well Sorry.
  9. If you do that I'll remove it. With a Stanley knife.
  10. All you need is a RWD (Right Wheel Drive) car
  11. Np. Exactly that. Try and get a recommendation from a forum or something if you can...
  12. Hmm, probably not for general pootling about from A to B, but if you're one of these people who actively enjoys driving, you'll notice the difference As a note, just because a geo has been done on a hunter machine doesn't mean it's any good - the result is only as good as the operator!
  13. Do the geo all at once dude (after the polybushes have been fitted), or it's just a waste of a geo!
  14. 1/4" difference in offset makes bugger all difference to spoke length (I was off Friday but I always build that hub with same spokes both sides).
  15. Nah I'm the MX5, but he's been here doing passenger laps. We were timing the other teams so decided to find out what he was doing. Think the Coastal layout suits a nimble car though...
  16. 10bhp, I chuckled. It'll sound better but you'll likely lose some power, the standard induction is good. Things I learned today: Mel C (spice girl) is the sister of Paul O'Neill (ex BTCC driver). My kit car is as fast (or maybe a bit faster) round Anglesey Coastal as Adam Morgan in his BTCC Merc A Class, bizarre!
  17. 58.8! Mike, that sounds promising. Hopefully it was just the lifters running out of pressure... Fill her up and try again. Things may be different when the oil warms up though - keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge, you need at least 3 bar when its hot and over 2.5k rpm, and should show at least 4 bar on idle when its cold.
  18. Aaah, that makes sense. Yep, that works for me! Edit: Tried to call, no joy, sent email via contact form. Will keep you updated.
  19. In theory, of course. In practice, it'd need a bit of thinking about I guess. My idea was to split the hire cost exactly between all of us, but then if there's an extra person or two at the last minute when everyone's paid up it makes things a bit awkward in terms of refunds etc. I'll see if there's a maximum number (personally wouldn't want to have any more than 15 ideally, else you feel like you've spent all day sat around doing nothing) and a cost and we can go from there...
  20. List of pointless and shit mods you've done to your car?
