  1. Hard running in, definitely. Fresh bottom end on my MX-5 race car (freshly honed bores, new rings, new bearings, oil pump, etc), pushed it onto the trailer, pushed it onto the dyno, warmed it up, was on the limiter within 5 mins. Great compression, didn't use a single drop of oil all season (previous engine did about 100ml a race). As Ed says, that first few minutes is crucial, you need pressure from one side (high throttle openings) and vacuum (over-run from high rpm) from the other to seat the rings properly. And you need 'not good' oil (mineral) with the right additives (specific running in oil) to help with this.
  2. You'll need to make the date firm and then ask who is definitely coming, the poll won't be accurate
  3. Different spoke lengths won't make any difference, and that sounds normal.
  4. Cos I'm nice like that Roads do look mega, we need a trip down there as you said...
  5. Postage isn't bad at all, costs me about £8.
  6. Main bit done... just need cleaning and some primer now. Maybe a bit OTT, but if a job is worth doing, it's worth doing properly Kinda tempted to make some for myself now - after trying some of the really simple exercises in the video above, it's pretty clear my core strength leaves something to be desired!
  7. Clearly the DJ is keeping an eye on us...
  8. Good timing, I'm listening to this
  9. I'll check what tubing I have in, but should be able to knock a set out for about £30. Will let you know Monday
  10. How level do they have to be? What's the tubing sizes? How much do they go for usually?

Pretty sure we still have a can (or most of) left in the filing cabinet...
  12. True! You need at least 8 slices to even feel remotely full Toast and peanut butter though... that does sound like a decent substitute.
  13. I think that might be just an 'incompatible' example, and I am definitely weird when it comes to food, but that doesn't sound like my idea of a nice breakfast. Still, I can definitely see where this diet is coming from, and it's great that some people can make it work for them
  14. I like food too much to try that...
  15. Or just smart and saving time I've had Word throw a paddy before and that not work, then just got into the habit of the long way round
  16. Have had similar in the past... a quick copy & paste into a text file / notepad, then cut and re-paste into Word strips all the formatting off
  17. More track action from yesterday... This car is bloody impressive. Leather heated seats on, radio on, and still faster than the race cars, despite 4 year old tyres and smelly / overheated brake pads
  18. Pretty poor IMO that they went ahead and did the geo anyway, it won't be right now...
  19. Yeah, that last lap I was trying to actually put a clean one together rather than be a hooligan You are right, it does seem to come out of a slide in quite a snappy way yep, I think I need to increase the damping at the rear a little (meant to do it for the second session, but forgot!).
  20. Check them before buying anything! Haha. The steering wheel controls make it easy
  21. There's a spring-loaded 'guide' that presses against the back of the rack itself, ensuring it's always nice and snug with the pinion. The inner tie rods are replaceable on this rack, just screw on and off: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=miata+rack+schematic&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjIs-LigNXKAhUCoRoKHS11Dt0Q_AUICCgC&biw=1680&bih=913#tbm=isch&q=miata+inner+tie+rod
  22. The racks have auto adjustment, column is very unlikely to have play but also worth checking, yep. Things like inner tie rods, outer ball joints, top and bottom ball joints could do with a check too.
  23. More brum brum from today. And from yesterday...
