  1. Hey Chris, I'd recommend 36h. If you're building a dual disc bike, I think the best way to go about it is decide the rear end components around the disc - this is the only way to make it work to its full potential. So, 36h for the rear wheel. Plain gauge spokes too if you'd like to add a little stiffness. The MBK disc mount is very tough from what I've seen so far. One of our customers is using one with no problems as yet. The KOT has a great disc mount too. Another option would be the Simtra ST-1 if the geometry allows (which I believe I already spoke to you about)... The Mono Trial is much better for trials than the Mono M4. Its all about piston ratios. Despite the M4 having 4 pistons, the overall leverage ratio between the slave and master pistons is much smaller, meaning less power and lock. The large holes in the Mono Trial rotor also allow the pads to clamp the edges of the holes really well. The picture of that caliper is something I may need to change the annotation of actually - it actually means 'Rear' OR '180mm Front'. Due to the way IS mounts have been standardised, the same caliper run on the front of a bike requires a 20mm larger rotor than on the rear. In short - without any adaptors, the largest Mono Trial rotor you can run on the rear of a KOT or MBK is 180mm. (The Simtra however can fit a 200). There's a few pics and vids of my bike floating about Chris, if you need links just shout Cheers Adam
  2. I'm not gonna be around this weekend now... some other time though! Ads
  3. Haha, not touched either of mine for at least a few months now Its all about the initial setup...
  4. Strange... impossible to diagnose properly without seeing it though, sorry!
  5. Faced mounts, re-bled (properly), got a new sytle rotor, perfectly set up, no contamination... that's about it - just a properly set up brake. Edit: How old is Luke's brake/rotor?
  6. On the rear of a mod bike? A 160 should be MORE than powerful enough, its equivalent to approx 205mm rotor on a 26" wheel! The 180mm Mono Trial I have kicks pretty much all Maguras into touch quite easily... Adam
  7. I noticed a small difference for certain things, but overall the difference was negligible.
  8. Kings are better. Pro2s are cheaper. However the Pro2 is better for what I use it for (I prefer the axle design for my rear disc).
  9. With Echo Urban forks, yes. The variation is large - because the varation in forks is large! It would be the same variation with any frame. I can't believe how 'straight' the Brisas are They must ride really weird...
  10. I know, I ride proper bikes
  11. The 36h are now only being made with hedgehog drillings, hence us not having any with normal holes in stock. We've asked for normal holes but Onza dont seem to have any. More Large haven't taken delivery of Onza parts yet as far as we are aware. Cheers Adam
  12. That stem makes the bike Everyone will learn one day! (When you're old and crippled like us)
  13. Just finished building Dave's new bike... here's some pics! Sexual Adamant Cranks New ZOO! Mounts Custom Etched Pro2 Front Hub Rides great from what we can tell so far (a few hops about on random bits we have to ride around work)... more riding to be done tomorrow! Let Dave know what you think for when he gets into work in the morning Cheers Adam
  14. Matt in 'riding somewhere other than the Docks' shocker! MIGHT be there... What sorta time are you thinking Craig? Cheers Adam
  15. --> QUOTE(joe b @ Jun 28 2006, 09:29 PM) ←Actually, buddy, Stan Shaw's and Adam Bessell's have both gone within about 3-4 months of having one. I'm not saying that these frame are good or not just on the basis of 3 peoples snapping quickly, however it is a good argument against the strength of this frame... Stan's lasted over 8 months and failed due to a manufacturing defect (therefore under warranty), the seat tube cracked away from the top yoke - how many times have you seen that? Adam's was battered to within an inch of it's life after many altercations with rails, and cracked in a similar way to the one in this thread. It was replaced for half price. Not a bad deal? This one's been dented a hell of a lot too... It's like crashing an F1 car into a wall and then complaining that it broke. The frames are more than strong enough to cope with their intended use. Cool picture though!
  16. Just a standard one (well, spaced for a K710), they come with the holes Yeah, the BB rise is only about 30mm, but I like my bars nice and high so I can actually roll down stuff without faceplanting Yeah, same question, what brake did you have Matt? Adam PS: Sod BIU
  17. The final's not on til 7 anyhoo, plenty of time to ride and get back home
  18. Nice one, cheers Phil, will check that out on a map...
  19. Hello all, I'm gonna be down visiting mates where I used to go to uni (Loughborough) the weekend of 7/8/9th July, and I need to make myself disappear on the Sunday morning so my mate can go to work. So, I'm up for suggestions as to where to ride. Must be rocks, none of this street poop Give me a shout and we'll sort something out Cheers Ads
  20. *Awaits THE operation* Nice post dude, summed it up really well! In addition - the Alex DX32 rims are also well worth a look, and a quick search on the forum should yield more info on those. Adam
  21. Sounds like it's a bit dodgy... Give Hope a call and see what they suggest, they may even sort it for you! Cheers Adam
  22. Some come with, some without. Lack of eyelets saves about 50g, not insignificant! Rims usually die from denting in trials before the spokes pull through too, so wedecided uneyeletted would be best. Cheers Adam
  23. Bear with me, this is a nightmare, haha! The HSBC CPI integration system places constraints on online stores, meaning that (due to the possibility of card fraud), all orders which have different billing and shipping addresses are marked for manual review. Imagine if someone nicks your card and has loads of stuff sent to their address? Sounds like you've found a way to trick it though, haha! There is a 'fix' for this, but that involves dropping the security level of the whole system - something we're not prepared to do. It's only 3 minutes with you cos you love to chat Nick, haha Phones are great, its easy to convey lots of information in a short period of time - for example if someone requires help with what parts to choose, or are not sure whats best for them. The certificate 'problem' is explained here: http://tartybikes.co.uk/terms.php - which everyone placing an online order is required to read and agree to, as directed by our site. If you wanna phone up and pester us with those sorts of questions, feel free, that's our job! We can also advise what is best for each rider. We often get a call from a customer asking to buy X-product, when after a small conversation, it becomes apparent that Y-product would be much better for them! Nobody can mistake you Joe, you're special And you usually try and organise most of it on MSN first anyway Thanks guys, much appreciated Never heard of a problem with joint cards... we hold a joitn account here, and tested the whole system with both of our cards to make sure it worked. Is it possible that the registered card addresses are different for both the cards? Online ordered suits certain people more than others! Like has been said, it would be a nightmare for Jonathan to order from us otherwise. Hey, we try to be quick, but that's just impossible! (Unless you don't get up til after about 4pm ). Also nicely identifies another reason for implementing the online ordering system - nocturnal mammals such as the lesser-spotted JT. Not found that problem Phil... we tested extensively with IE and Mozilla (in fact about 50% of the work put into the site was to make sure everything worked correctly with both these browsers). Will look into that though, cheers for the heads up Apologies to anyone who's found a problem with the system. If anything occurs a couple of times, then please let us know so we can try and get it sorted. Cheers Adam Crikey, that was an effort :$ PS: Glad the ordering works for you now Rob!
  24. All the DX32s have always been the same (apart from colour etc, obviously!) so it should do you proud Adam
