  1. They're not meant to side load the bearings though, that kills them. Difference betwen side load and pre-load: Pre-load stops the BB from spinning round, adds a bit of friction. Side load puts sideways loads on the bearings, the direction they don't like forces, and breaks them
  2. The problem with those (and the Viz BB) is that the sleeves on the axles are too short - this means it kills the splines on your cranks, and it doesn't preload the bearings correctly. Instructions aren't really needed for such a BB, if you need help then your retailer will be able to help you out. Similarly, if the tool doesn't fit properly then get it touch with your retailer and they should help you out. You can't crush the bearings due to the way the BB is designed. In fact, I can't think of a BB on the market that uses the crank arms to preload the bearings - that would be such a bad idea! Adam
  3. I was kinda thinking the same... Plaz CRMs and Echo Pinks will do a very very similar job to ZOOs, and last longer!
  4. It simply may not have one... Like Mark says, ring Onza and ask!
  5. We managed to get hold of the very last one... they're pretty decent to ride actually! Geo is +45-50bb (can't remember exactly), 375mm stays and 1020 wheelbase. DX32 rear rim and Luna tyres (same as the Echo ones). Forks are the same as the 26" ones with the mounts moved. V Brake mounts only. Cheers Adam
  6. Being the 'wrong' way round won't make any difference to the performance New pads sound like they will help... but don't forget new rotors need to bed in, and Hope ones take a while (a few weeks until theyre almost there)
  7. Well that's a load of poo, mines a beast, and a 160 on a mod bike has more mechanical advantage than a 200 on a 26" wheel! Which rotor did you fit to it? I think you'll need new pads too... and a professional bleed wouldn't go a miss (from a good bike shop).
  8. Yeah, same thing, both discontinued as far as we can tell from the latest price list!
  9. Noodles are 135 degree for the front, and 90 degree for the rear... However, I would always go for the 135 degree given the choice, and then you can bend it to exactly the right angle you need
  10. Hey Al, The Echo/Czar/Adamant/Gu are fixed hubs at £75, whereas the XC is a freehub. Builds are £10 per wheel, correct. Cheers Adam

  12. You'll need some uber-degreaser to clean your rotor now Rob, and a new set of pads. Anything designed for cars etc will ruin MTB disc brakes in my experience. You could try meths on the rotor and boiling/blowtorching the pads, but it'll never be back to how it was
  13. The 'GU Pads' on vizbikes are the Echo Pink pads.
  14. You're not hitting it hard enough Try a hammer instead - the shock is the main thing that'll get it off.
  15. How tight is your chain Nick? Like Phil says, its worth just letting it all bed in... but having your chain too tight won't help that.
  16. Boil a kettle of water, pour that over the BB end of the crank arm, then smack it from the back with a mallet - always works Adam
  17. How tight is your chain? There should be a small amount of bob without any pressure on the pedals. Which chain is it?
  18. If its 5mm, that'll be fine... I've seen 10-12mm before and that's run without problems
  19. Unfortunately not, ZOO don't make them any more, so all others shops who don't have them at the moment won't be getting any more either. Adam
  20. Yeah, that would help, or a spacer. How much are they out of line? Its pretty much impossible to get it perfect, especially with a nice long BB so your ankles clear the cylinders, but in nearly all cases it'll run fine, especially with a BMX chain (KMC Kool for example) Adam
  21. I can! They have been discontinued, along with the Echo Reds - so it's just the Pinks left, which are very similar to the ZOOs anwyay Adam
  22. Really hard to tell without seeing it... Maybe try new pads and giving the rotor a good clean with some meths (meths only, nothing else!) and then let ie bed in with COLD clean water. It often helps to put fresh pads AND rotor on at the same time though... Adam Edit: Oh, and make sure the disc mounts have been faced!
  23. Retail is £43 for the BFR-300, bargain!
