  1. Good outcome in the end then - glad to hear it!
  2. Carried on - don't let it put you off. The majority of people are actually decent human beings
  3. Sounds familiar... I hope it goes smoothly from here for you dude
  4. No probs I've never dealt with a lettings agency before - the thought of those slimy twats taking 15-20% for doing f**k all always put me off - but my gut feel in this circumstance is that you'd be in the same boat or worse. You would either have to do the legwork anyway, or pay them to do it with commission added on top...
  5. Oh, forgot to add, we spent about £2k on solicitors fees etc. and the guy just left when he fancied it. These people know the law and will exploit it for a few months then just move onto the next place. Don't piss them off and you should be fine. References are useful, and it's worth a credit check even if it costs a bit.
  6. I've been there too... it really is a completely f**ked up situation. You have my sympathy. As you've found though it's just an expensive waiting game now. I hope it turns out ok for you. I'm not sure of the legalities but having a guarantor may help recoup some of the losses if you find the same thing happening again.
  7. It looks pretty solid - the pulley itself might wobble a bit as it's rubber mounted, that's fine. The main thing to check is the keyway in the crank nose itself, as long as the key is tight into the slot and there's no evidence of flaring / cracking, it's fine.

Ha. Knows he got lucky and to quit while he's ahead! Clever.
  9. We were expecting to be launching a new site end of November, so that's where all our time has gone... Also have absorbed a lot of exchange rate fluctuations into our margins recently, wanging discount on loads of stuff would have been foolish.
  10. 'Almost scraped'. We would need to know exactly how much clearance there was to make a full judgement here... My point is that Mike's car is too low IMO...
  11. This. Have used it on various cars before - both long and short term. One fix is going after about 4 years, the other was an 'in the field' repair during a race weekend and that's still going too.
  12. All I can think of is a bust bearing or a snapped axle... But you have ruled that out. Hmm. Got the thin washer between the freehub bearing and the hubshell bearing?
  13. Ah yes, could be a follower depending on size...
  14. Looks like a big end bearing shell to me...
  15. The dropout on the carbon forks is aluminium, so you could do the same - not that I can be seen to recommend it
  16. I would have said slim. Market already too saturated, cost for tooling and development really high - especially considering the quantity that would be sold. Best bet at the moment is Crewkerz if you have the option to fit one to your head tube.
  17. Crappy as in won't lock the wheels, or crappy as in you need plenty of pedal force? If it's the latter that's normal, you'll get used to it and it makes it easier to threshold brake
  18. Access is just usually a lot easier with the engine on a stand - but I can see how you get excited ripping bits off in situ if you haven't got a way to get the engine out yet, I'd be the same!
  19. Might get 10% off if we book for 10 people or more, that's about it. Cost would be more than anyone wants to pay - if you think they have to book 60 on at £100 a pop to cover costs, and there would be about 15 of us... yeah... £400 each. Plus we'd have to sort our own insurance, marshalls, medical crew, etc. Not gonna happen.
  20. Ace! Maybe we should find a date at Blyton (great for beginners), Donington (central), somewhere like that and all book on?
  21. They aren't. Only similarities are that it's black and round and has holes for the spokes
  22. Fair play - going over the top on that first climb looks nuts!
  23. Process and technique is the same. Tension 80kg max for that rim. Dishing - remove one of the arms on the truing stand, flip the wheel over to check dish, easy Edit: Just Googled your truing stand, yeah, dishing gauge will be useful...
  24. Can you mix it with actual diesel to help thin it out for this weather?
