I think the idea of that top tube is to increase the support of the head tube... its not as if the frame isn't tiny enough anyway!

I'll post these down to you and we can swap for a bit The Ribos myself and Stan are wearing are 2 of 3 different prototype sets we have been testing for a while now (3rd set also being tested). Like you said, they don't look as 'disco' and we seem to have increased durability, flexibility and feel too.

Cheers for the replies, glad it seems to be (mostly) liked The headset has been great so far, as said in the news topic its pretty close to a King, no troubles yet anyway! Freewheel mod: perfectly reliable for my riding, not particularly easy to do. It clunked a couple of times when bedding in but nothing at all on my last ride. It involves using 2 short, 2 medium and 2 long pawls (instead of 3 long and 3 short). I had to very carefully grind (file wouldn't touch them) a couple of long ones down, measuring with digital calipers to get them exactly the same length. The shape you need to make them is a little tricky too. Work on both ENOs and Echos. Obviously from a professional point of view I can't recommend anyone else tries it though Despite carefully chosen parts the bike isn't actually that light, around 22lbs I think... which is why it annoys me when people claim their bike is 19lbs or whatever! As for 'trying parts', of course I can do that, but then they are obviously second hand and have to be sold as such! Being around so many different parts and having quite a lot of years experience gives you a very good idea of exactly what you want though, its very rare I'll try something and get rid of it quickly. I was dubious about the Monty bars due to them being quite narrow and having a lot of rise/sweep, but I'm actually in love with them now! They seem to have made the bike feel more nimble and the shape just feels 'right'. Wouldn't mind trying 1/2-3/4" extenders in each end though... Stan's on the video at the moment, should be done within a few days he reckons Cheers Adam

Dave's not ridden much recently and was away this weekend, but will get more pics of him just for you Kyle Stan's doing the vid right now Ali didn't quite keep the tweaked tap, tyre gave up... but it was at a crazy angle! Dave - yeah it's about a 20 min push up the hill.

Shouldn't need to adjust the brakes if the bike is new... Magura brakes can rarely be set up to make one piston hit before the other, there's too many variables - if one piston is a little tighter fit than the other, spring rate... plus the hose goes to one cylinder first (yes I'm aware the pressure throughout the system should be the same, but on all the HS33s I've seen the cylinder with the main hose attached to it always seems to move first). As long as both pads are hitting squarely and are the same distance from the rim that's all you can ask for

Most fatigue resistant spoke Leaders and Strongs are stronger in ultimate terms. The thing with Ti spokes is that if you make them light they're horrendously flexy (and pretty weak)... and if you make them strong and stiff they're just as heavy as steel spokes. Plus the nipples sieze... and they cost a bomb. Double butted stainless spokes all the way for me!

With a standard mod bike gear ratio (which 99% of people run anyway), the stays always come out to 362-363mm length, that 1mm isn't enough to upset the brake rotor. It works great on Montys after all Matt - have a look here: http://www.hayesdiscbrake.com/pdf/Rear%20QR%20IS.pdf and check the mounting holes are in the correct position on your frame. As Tomm said, it looks like the brake is spot on from the picture he quoted, but the alignment looks a bit squiff from another picture you posted. Is it definitely set up well? Any chance of a pic looking along the line of the rotor too?

Just some updated pics of my bike... didn't wanna waste the great light today! Side view. Pro Bolts and Carbon Lever Blade on both levers. Ti caliper bolts too. Tensile headset, carbon spacer, Ti steerer clamp bolts. Front/side view. More Pro Bolts, 221 Ti White bars (you were right people, they're looovely!), Ti/Alloy Pro bolts in front stem clamp. Echo freewheel (modified to 108 engagements). Other new bits since I last posted it are 160mm Echo Forged cranks, alloy crank bolts, Ti rear hub bolts, Eagle Claw Bashplate... and I think thats about it! Cheers Adam

Had a beasty ride at Blackstone Edge today with Stan and Ali C, thought I might as well whack the pics up! The two pics below show about 1/4 of what there is to ride (between them!). Needless to say, we didn't even get through that much despite riding for 6 hours... Stan preload... ... for sidehop to back wheel. Bit of TGS! (To the green rock on the right ) Batman (cheers for taking the pic Stan! Shame my arm's in the way...). Rolldown. Random snap, thought it looked cool. Ali sidehop from the rock in the very bottom left. Made the largest bit later on as well! Uber-tweaked tap! Another random one. Hope you like If anyone wants desktop-sized versions of the pics just let me know. There's about 40 minutes of raw footage on Stan's camera too, so look out for a vid when he gets round to it Cheers Ads

Hmm, the disc/rotor contact area looks ok with that Avid. I take it the Mono Trial was worse? When you say 'forms a pyramid', I can't quite work out what you mean there... any chance of a diagram? Cheers again

The only BB you can run in that frame is the Onza Square Taper model in 119mm axle, its the only BB available with oversized threads on the cups. If you need a longer axle you could buy a 119mm and a 127.5mm and swap the axles though

This is true... although I think disc mounts should be categorised: Disc mounts, and disc mounts that are actually usable and not just a waste of aluminium! (KOT, Simtra and MBK of recent frames off the top of my head.)
