They are... hmm... Double Fighter I think: http://www.scott-testcenter.com/images_tec...ublefighter.gif. Great on the roads, fine on hardpack/fire roads, not all that good on mud and roots but at least it keeps you awake! Those contacts look a bit too 'slick' for anything other than hardpack (and tarmac of course) I reckon. I've heard of people having good results with the Mach SS tyres too. If you're after something to make your bike quicker on the roads but still be able to go off road a bit then you can't really go wrong with either
  3. I guess so, but would you ride with a chain full of links which have been bent since they were new? I'm not sure on the figures but I don't think half link chains are any stronger than a KMC Kool.
  4. Why half-link chains aren't great in high stress applications (trials): (Red arrow = force applied... gotta love paint). The plates are bent in a half link chain, so when you apply force they just stretch. You can see what I mean very easily by just folding a bit of paper so its a Z shape and then pulling it from either end - it straightens out. Do it with a fresh piece and it doesn't stretch a bit. Make the same models out of steel and you have the same effect.

Ah sweet, not heard of them, been so long since I was around XC stuff! I've got an Orbea Replay, with added Quad front disc and a set of Onza disc hub/X517 and Bonty RaceLite/X517 wheels with alloy nips and a set of Conti semi slicks, Echo stem and EA70 bars. XC bikes are fun

Nah, I'd be bored within a couple of minutes... For all the slow people out there I went for an XC ride
  7. KMC for normal riders, KHE for bashers or heavy people with 16T front rings

  10. It's all good, do me for false advertising I think you might have your language set as something dodgy... although I'm not all that sure Start - Settings - Control - Regional and Language Options, then set up the 'Regional Options' tab to show 'English (United Kingdom)' and £ (currency in pounds)... might work?!
  11. 'I have spoken with my son and it appears that he has not been totally up front with either you or me.' Just as expected... glad you got sorted out Ads
  12. Pretty sure it's this one: http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?id=313
  13. The amount still in use and not broken
  14. I'm guessing moly is Molybdenum (spelling?) and LM is Lithium...
  15. Hmmm... not sure, but in 160 size they are ~125g (20g more than a Mono Trial rotor) if that's of any use at all!? haha

In a skirt? Looks like XC bike wins... cheers people haha.
  17. They probably can't, but rocks can... gotta love the north :wink2: Anyway... I would try and work it out with them. I've seen similar cases where the dad/mum deals with it, having been told a slightly iffy story by their kid. Try and get a phone number and give them a call, just explain what you thought you would be receiving and what has actually turned up - give them the chance to help out and if no luck there then unfortunately you may need to give eBay a shout.
  18. No holes = bad, the pads glaze quickly. Big holes = more bite, less holes = more lock (in my experience) Try a Hope Bubble rotor if you can get one, as used on the old Mini brakes. I also think there may be a difference between different materials, cheapo rotors generally aren't all that good...

  20. There's a grub screw to hold it in place... just tighten it in
  21. 375, +50, 1020, normal headset.
  22. Good question indeed... All I know is that it was developed by NASA by accident while trying to make an uber-sticky glue (I think thats right anyway...)
