  1. I can't remember all of my course any more, but surely if the Ultimate Tensile Strength is higher the material can therefore be classed, in one sense, as stronger? Even if it can't, it almost certainly means it isn't weaker than other alloys which have a lower UTS, especially given the trends shown across all the other common aluminium alloys used in bicycle frames. Anyway, this thread is going a bit off topic really, pictures have been sent to Koxx and this thread isn't doing its' chances of being replaced any favours
  2. I guess so, but as you will know, the yield and UTS are usually very close in their ratios across all aluminium alloys. Perhaps the yield of K-Alone actually increases relative to the UTS (when compared with the other common grades)? 6061: http://www.matweb.com/search/DataSheet.asp...13bad6044b3f318 - 290/255 7005: http://www.matweb.com/search/DataSheet.asp...9a80ecbee94406e - 350/290 6066: http://www.matweb.com/search/DataSheet.asp...dc5b342ef1ab84b - 393/359
  3. Haha, yeah true, not as many knocks as a banger anyway Couldn't think of a better example at the time.
  4. http://koxx.fr/index.php?lg=en_EN&sec=...DB4589685607dfb - the graph shows UTS (Ultimate Tensile Strength).
  5. Well no, in fact the opposite: K-Alone material is stronger than standard (6061, 7075) alloys, meaning you can use thinner tubes to save weight and the frame ends up the same strength. This is ideal for skilled riders who don't hit the frame tubes, as they can benefit from a lighter frame. Think of it like a touring car compared with a stock car... One is heavier with less performance but will take some knocks, the other is super light with very high performance and will only take one or two knocks.
  6. Driving with one hand on the wheel? Didn't have his full attention on the road/controlling the cat?
  7. Which rim are you looking for exactly? (Colour, drilling, model) There may be a very similar alternative - or it may be discontinued.
  8. Tut, Ali stayed logged in on the work laptop... That's obviously not Ali on the Yaabaa Thanks to Claire for the pics
  9. 'These brakes come with a 1 year warranty covering manufacturing defects and materials, which also covers the sealing of the brake.' This has always been the same for all Echo brakes.
  10. Size... the main 'ring' is 33mm diameter and the bashring bit, if a complete circle, would be 44mm diameter - so it's exactly half size of the 'actual' bashring.
  11. Haha, that was quick Good man...
  12. Oops... white ones, hopefully before xmas!
  13. Wahoo! White for the winnage, looks pimp Light?
  14. Well that was pretty obvious... Oh and the keyrings are pimp
  15. Theoretically... 250mm I guess! Realistically, a #3 Hope caliper (usually used for front 180mm on IS fork) will go straight on with a 210mm rotor and no adaptors.
  16. It does seem that way at first - but it means you can use the same caliper front and rear for 190mm rotors when the frame is used with Try-All Forks (which have a +30 mount).
  17. Check 2:13 onwards, note the foot positions as the front wheel starts to lift (bad foot approx vertical): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YitYc92iXl8&...feature=related, 38secs onwards: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NpayaHeiV0o - the bike comes in at a flatter angle, instead of glancing it's being pedalled into the obstacle. And compare with (about 8 and 24 seconds) front/good foot lifting the front wheel: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0EXg4BSEmvs Generally I would say the Frenchie tap is easier on lower BB frames... waffle waffle... Phil Williams knows what I'm on about
  18. Nice, looks like you have some sweet places to ride too! Enjoy the new bike Adam
  19. See above I actually think more spaces is better for tapping with my technique. If you do a pedal up with a tap then lower bars are generally better, if you do a 'proper' tap (where the front wheel leaves the ground much later, Frenchie style) then higher stems allow you to tap harder. Oh and about the XC frame, yeah it's quite small but I wanted a shorter top tube (short arms) and something I can slam the seat down and play on too. Haha, yeah whatever Anal!
