  1. Hi guys, KOXX/K-124, K-124UK and TartyBikes have an idea that we would like to run past you, if you think it's a good one then please post up and let me know so we can get the ball rolling. It would be like a 'package deal' including travel (by minibus - with pickup/dropoff points at Preston, Birmingham, London and Maidstone), accommodation (in the dorms at Base de Buthier), trip to Paris on Friday for the street ride and entry for the Koxx Days Trials competition on Sunday. Leaving date would be Thursday 26th, returning Sunday 30th. What would not be included: Food, travel insurance, babysitting The maximum number would be 15 at which the cost would be approx £185 each. It would be possible with 10 people but because of fuel/rental/ferry/toll road costs the price would increase to more like £250. Would anyone be interested? I guess it's mainly aimed at younger guys who can't drive themselves there, but would be open to anyone. Any questions just ask. Cheers! Adam

  3. Hello to all those with knowledge about cars! Just after a bit of help if possible please... Here's what happened and some background info: Car: 1.4 Diesel Fiesta, 03 plate, done around 60k miles, recent service, never ragged, does 90% of miles on the motorway. Scenario: Monday morning, on the motorway sitting at 70mph (2.5k revs) an 'EAC Fail' light popped up on the dash (Electronic Accelerator Control Fail according to the handbook). I had seen this before and it didn't cause a problem (went away the next time I started the car) so pressed on anyway as I was already quite close to work. Around 5 mins later the engine cut out without any noise or jerking and I coasted ot the hard shoulder. RAC man came out and played around a bit, the car turned over with power from the battery fine and seemed to be compressing, so he thought it was something to do with the high pressure fuel pump. Got towed to a garage and the guy there has had a look and thinks it's something much more serious (cambelt = engine rebuild)... I'm useless when it comes to cars but I would have thought if the timing screwed up at that speed there would at least be some noise or jerking as the internals destroyed themselves? Anyway, any help/thoughts are appreciated! Cheers Adam
  4. surly those will have to be past the watershed though;)
  5. The issue is if you put a left hand crank on the drive side, the pedal will self-loosen... The Trialtech hubs are great like that because it gives you a second thread just in case you screw the other one up.
  6. Which most people won't think of doing, therefore screwing their hubs up! But yeah, that's what I have done to fix that problem in the past too.
  7. When it's re-compressed to the original length the diameter increases, making it stick on the inside of the hub shell - thus producing less force.
  8. But are they? I think it could be psychological. I haven't found wider chains to be stronger in my experience. The only thing is that their pins tend to stick out of the pinks a little further (since the overall width of the chain is less of an issue on 1/8"), so maybe people have found the links to splay apart less and thus perceive the chain to be 'stronger'?
  9. Could do if I can be bothered, might save 15g! The bars feel really nice, the have a little more sweep than the Rage bars. The weight is 211g! The bashring is clamped in place by tightening the BB in. Yeah Ali has the same system, I have switched mine back to 'normal' now though. That's an SL headset, very light. Haha, ok ok... Rear rim made single wall Brakes changed to Try-All Prototype Trialtech SL stem Try-All Carbon bars Echo SL headset Maxxis tubes Rear Hansventure Reset Ti BB Trialtech Ti bashring Trialtech MG-1 Pedals with Ti axles Prototype Trialtech SL 7075-T6 rear sprocket Loads of Ti and Alloy bolts Done the lever blades now, the stackers are there for a reason! Haha, yes I have, quite a lot actually, just I very rarely hit anything other than the tyres. I am thinking of trying some other rotors but the ones on at the moment work so well... I'm gonna try a Rubber Queen on the rear but I really like the feel of the Hansventure and the grip of 'proper' tyres. Not at all actually in this case! Yeah, 1499 is the RRP of the complete bike in Euros. Sure, which picture and what size do you need? It was originally a double walled version of the hOle rim with circular drillings, but I cut a wall out of it. Won't let me post all the replies properly (too many quotes) but here they are without quotes: Gogz: You can use any BB but it's best done with that bashring as it is nice and slim. The BB clamps the bashring in place. I can't see any problems unless you smash the hell out of it, although I'm a left footer which means when I miss a large gap the chain is a little exposed... so I have put it back to 'normal' now. Ben: I could, that would mean the bars are too low... Ali: Hehe, just learn to ride left footed :wink2: Stan: Don't worry, your disc will be back on soon! Ashley: Check my reply to Gogz's post, it basically just clamps in with the BB. Heath: Of course mate haha Cheers Adam
  10. Cheers for the comments, glad you like the pics! Ali has a Dr Kaiser tyre which seems really really good. Endohopper - you're right, vees and discs don't freeze
  11. Hello everyone, A few snaps from Friday's ride all taken by Dr Jon. The rocks looked grippy but the top surface was crumbling off which left them like they were covered in marbles! Gap up to front... Not quite made, haha Tap to roll/mini hook from bumpy grass run up Trackstand following pigeon up onto the rock Stan on the same rock, view from opposite side And then following me down with the gapdrop Huge static gap And back again Sidehop up First move again from opposite angle Stan sidehop to hook Ali tap from tricky bumpy run up Hope you like! Cheers Adam
  12. Hey all, Just a few updated pics of my bike from today. Weight is now 10.08kg, wanna get it under 10...! They don't call me The Tart for nothing lol Closeup of bashring fitting (same as on Ali's bike) If anyone wants to know the changes from the last set of pics just let me know. Cheers Adam
  13. Just a couple of snaps from today... was too cold to stop riding for long. Ice on tyres and frozen brakes mid-riding were the stories of the day... Sidehop to rear Sidehop from rock in bottom left of pic (done to rear also) Sidehop from pointy rock about 2/3 way up on the left Drop/gap over chasm! Hope you like, Adam

Nice Phil! Are you up North at the mo? Fancy a ride tomorrow?
  15. Hey Andrei, This is perfectly normal and there is always very very little brake pad movement on disc brakes too What you need to do is: Using some tissue paper to stop your fingers from touching the rotor (and therefore contaminating it), pull the rotor across against the pad which is out the furthest, making it retract a little. Pull the brake a few times - you will see the other piston move out. Then let go of the rotor and pull the brake a few times, repeat the above steps (can be done to either pad) until the rotor sits in the middle of the pads. You may have to do this a few times throughout the bedding in process of the brake, but once it is settled you won't need to touch it again. Cheers Adam
  16. Denied. In all seriousness, it's more of a 'sit down and push yourself along with your feet so you get used to obstacles' type bike.
  17. Top stuff Sam, look to be getting on with the bike well! See you in the New Year for a bit of a ride... Ads
  18. I am not a fan of the 'O ring' mounting on any CNC backings, but surely the issues you found with the Plaz backings was down to their shape, not the fact they were mounted with an O ring?
  19. Geo depends on forks, Ali's is 1085, 380, +30 at the moment.
  20. You can see the bashring on the 5th bike pic on K-124 :wink2:
  21. Hello all, Ali C has a new ride for 2009: Ali will also receive full parts and accessories sponsorship from Trialtech. You can see pics and further info here: http://k-124.co.uk/riders.php and here: http://trialtech.co.uk/rider.php?rider_id=7 Cheers! Adam
