We usually get pics as a record (may be handy for the customer for insurance purposes down the line), usually have a quick stamp on the pedals to ensure the drivetrain is working correctly and sprockets etc are tightened on but never a proper ride. Usually front wheel and bar/stem comes off then it goes in a box and on it's way Ads

Hope you like. Brakes are surprisingly good with the black pads on those anodised rims!! Lots of headset spacers because the rider is tall and wants to bunnyhop - gives a really nice riding position though. Cheers Adam

Of course. Tim - I assume you have to hand: 1. A set of what I called 'proper' CRM pads with rounded corners and chamfered centre section, which feel very 'waxy' to touch, a slight greying around their sides, some small air bubbles on the outside corners where they attach to the backings, have had their top face ground away to make it flat, have extremely fast rebound and are fitted into official Magura backings: 2. A set of the 'new' CRMs with square corners and no centre chamfer, a very consistent yellow colour throughout, no air bubbles, with a more rubbery feel than the above pads, exhibit a slower rebound and from which the corners can be bitten off: Please compare these and hopefully you can see my point. I know you are more than capable of realising the pads are different if you have both sets in front of you - I don't think of myself as a brake pad expert and haven't had years of experience making them, but the difference to me (and others who have used both pads too, it seems) is clear. This is not an attack on you, I just hope you can see the differences between them because I think it may be possible that you are getting item 2's compound when you believe you are paying for and receiving item 1's compound?

Excerpts from some of my emails with TNN Engineering regarding the yellow pads pictured in my previous post: *Removed at request of TNN Engineering* Weird.

Lol. So what are these? I'm quite sure they aren't 'proper' (I use that term as I can't think of a better word) CRM material, the set I have here are so soft and un-resilient that I can bite chunks out of them. And what were the Limited Edition ones made of?

Mono Trials front and rear, 20" and 26"!

Yeah, and 20s and 22s as long as the plating company do a good job this time

Nice one, we're up to seven bookings now - thanks Mr Brooker!

It wasn't the cam belt, it was the cam belt pulley bearing. I have seen all the destroyed parts with my own eyes and the empty internals of my engine block. I don't think they are 'taking me for a ride', but they do seem a bit slow. Lesson learned either way, cheers for the help.

Yes. I believe the 'new CRMs' are not anything like the 'proper' CRMs. We have had a reasonable hand in testing and development with the help of Stan and Ali so will make sure the pads are bang on. We have already rejected one compound which appeared to be amazing in Australian conditions (30 degree heat) but was poor in the UK.
-
Possibly - but these new pads aren't anything to do with the 'Plazmatic' name as we have known it for the last few years. Chris Russ, the original Plazmatic manufacturer is providing the pad material but TNN Engineering are making the backings. The original Plazmatic backings had a totally different design to this, which meant that the flat sections against which the Magura slave 'pins' sat were cut away, making the pads rock too much under braking and snapping the plastic location clip on the Magura cylinders. These TNN backings are perfectly square and a little larger than other CNC backings to ensure less wobble.

He's testing them We should have them soon.

Thomas Oehler? I couldn't find a real pic of Muel, but here he is as a 10 year old schoolgirl Sorry man!

Touche, hehe... I think it means 'massive', 'really hard' instead of really bad
-
Probably... but the work is 90% completed now.

Further news... it's a big job lol It's been a pig to get the spares as the belt wasn't due til 150k so that's delayed things a lot... Was meant to be ready end of last week but they couldn't get the timing pins in as what they had in front of them wasn't the same as what was in the instructions! Turns out the cams on the camshaft have rotated (it's a 'new type' where the cams are pressed onto the shaft, not a one-piece cast one) so it needs a new camshaft @ £250. Add that to the other parts and that comes to £650... plus labour... which the garage say they will do a little cheaper as my car has been a bit of a guinea pig. So we'll see how we get on...
