Bit of a bump... Seems the 'Official' wheel is now discontinued (hence it being out of stock everywhere and 2nd hand ones going for silly prices) - anyone know of another option? Looked at the MadCatz one but the reviews have put me off a bit... Something that feels 'chunky' is probably what I'm after, nothing too wishy washy that feels like you have zero resistance/control.

It's the same size for both - you need the small version of the guard and it will clip straight on and stay put, even without sticky pads.

That is VERY cool, loving the welding and brazing fillets on the cable guides! The brake mounts should be M5x0.8 btw, and brake mounts on the forks should have no threads, plain 6mm (+0.2/-0.0) hole

Keeping the lockring tight is essential on all freewheels - let it come loose and you'll have problems, keep it tight and you won't - simples.
