  1. 1. Why/how? 2. Fair point, however we all know that the Mono Trial is the best trials brake available. 3. You can do that with IS mount, and it;s more guesswork with post mount than with IS - at least with IS you KNOW how much you are adjusting the caliper by (the thickness of the shim used). 4. Nope, it's heavier 5. That's bad, it means we now have two different types of brake mount in trials. As soon as any adaptors are required customers get confused as it is, this makes it even worse!
  2. Anything that's in the grinder, it's about technique mainly.
  3. I have no idea why they went to post mount, some people prefer it I guess. Headset type is just internal I think, but hard to tell anything from those photos and details are still sketchy. We'll know when they arrive (hopefully before Xmas for the frames).
  4. 20" - £1749, 26" - £1599. Both come with single wall rims, Stiky light tyres, single caged pedals, 3D forged stems, etc. 26" dual HS33, 20" dual Hope disc.
  5. Nope, they are both photos of final production frames.
  6. No typo - hence the reason I think they will be more popular as complete bikes...
  7. Pretty sure DOB did that bash design a while ago. The frames in the UK will be £699 I think. I reckon they'll be more popular as complete bikes given the 116mm hub on the 26" and post mount brake on the 20", but we'll be getting some separate frames in to inspect anyway Oh and the mod is 1000, +90, 350.
  8. Yeah I've seen them go for £100+ which is nuts! Hopefully they are working on a new one though, weird that they have stopped production of the current one if they have no plans for a new one...
  9. Managed to pick up a 2nd hand one for a beasty price Only played with it briefly so far but seems ok... Made a stand at the weekend which has helped (wheel on your lap with pedals shifting around sucks), but needs more brake pedal resistance (squash ball behind the pedal) and I would like more force feedback (but I doubt I'll get that without spending megabucks!). It allows you to drive in-car and still have some sort of idea what the back end is doing though, which is cool. Certainly more fun that with the pad but definitely harder (at the moment til I get used to it!). You defo need to keep all your inputs smooth and 'real' rather than ragging on the controller which is cool.
  10. This: and this: Even the industry standard CN tests are a bit of a joke and mean almost nothing (other than it being harder to sue a manufacturer if the items have passed the tests). There's only one manufacturer who's trials frames are subjected to them as far as I know (and they pass). Mind you, most industry standard stuff is too generic to apply to trials anyway... I reckon the costs of creating a decent trials frame test rig would be totally daft given the value of the info that would be returned, with a bit of design experience AND real-world experience you can predict exactly where 95% of parts will break anyway (when not abused).
  11. Sorry, I should have said 'somewhere nice' (Jokes)
  12. It is 4:3. The comp footage is pretty awesome as Mark says!
  13. Drive an F1 car (preferably at a 'proper' F1 circuit). See some cool countries (nowhere in particular - never been travelling before and feel the need to do so). Skydive. Move somewhere other than England!
  14. Couldn't have put it much better myself really...
  15. Looking sweet! One small thing... I think the pedals are 'backwards', if that makes sense? The parallelogram shape is pointing the 'wrong' way... Sorry to keep pointing out little bits that aren't quite correct, but I can see you are going for the '100% win' on this project and I would sound like a broken record saying how awesome it is every time (Even though it is!)
  16. Indeed Keeps the cost down though, only need to make one type of left hand dropout and it goes on both 20" and 26" frames...
  17. 18. Yeah that's so people can set up a stock update request for when the 3 is in. The pic is in the 2010 version of the frame. The metal isn't heated, as that would make it weaker. Yeah the ripple isn't all the way. Yes, as it states, the triangular shaped chainstays are to help resist denting. It seems like it's had a lot of thought gone into it, yeah, wouldn't be my personal choice but that's the beauty of so many frame designs being available now!
  19. Thanks for the article Julien, looks good with the photos dotted around. Cheers again!
  20. Like this: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/images/custom/frames/large_born11.jpg Hydroforming: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydroforming Your decision will need to be between the Born and the Slate 3, as the Slate 2 is discontinued (replaced with the 3).
  21. Now that's a good reason if ever there was one
  22. It's been surprisingly popular, too... Which I thought was strange - but if it's better for customers then all good.
  23. I see, 2006 frames aren't really around any more though...
  24. Hmm, I would have thought that was a 'you can use energy to work the answer out, since the bullet doesn't bounce off' type clue.
