Here goes... This is all from the morning when I was crap, camera died before lunch Still, awesome fun! The surface is deliberately low friction, then they wet it, so it's very easy to get sideways And you barely wear anything of your tryes (less than 0.5mm a day). Would love to have another go with a diff that's not sporadically fully open (22 year old viscous LSD = pretty much just a D now).

The bill would be picked up by Tarty in order to make the event free, but if you guys wanted to donate to a charity, that would be awesome! Hopefully the park would be able to nominate one In terms of combustion-based fun, that is something Joe and the park would need to discuss, I'll ask him. I mentioned that people would definitely want some sort of fire initially though. In terms of security, it would be pretty relaxed I think, but you would have to bear in mind that the event wouldn't happen again if things got too messy and disturbed any local residents. This isn't a 'Tarty Days 2012' by the way, just an idea that Joe had that hopefully we might be able to help out with. I think having as many trials events as poss can't be a bad thing, and one 'up North' is ideal for those who can't get down to Radfest. Joe had the idea, access to the venue, the riding kit, but not the contacts or funds - we have no venue or riding kit, but do have the contacts and funds, so hopefully that combo will work. -

Hello all, I've been asked by Joe at Cuerden Valley Park to put the feelers out regarding a possible trials weekend at the park. They have run trials events as part of their yearly festival for the past 2 years, but this year it has been called off due to waterlogged fields. So, instead, he wants to run a weekend event, probably 25/26th August. Cuerden Valley Park is just near J29 of the M6, postcode PR5 6BY. The green area is where the event would be, orange is Sainsbury's, red are the train stations. Everything is within a mile of each other which is handy! We are also very close by so would be on hand to help Joe during setup and may be able to nip to the shop up for half an hour or so for any replacement parts needed over the weekend. Initial thoughts are: - 2-day event (possibility of camping over Friday night too if anyone would prefer), with full itinerary made before the weekend so you know what's going on and when. - Camping on site, with showers and toilets. - DJ on the Saturday night, possibly with beer tent. - Fish & Chip van or Hog Roast or Burger van Saturday night (Fish & Chips favourite idea at the moment). - Bigger and better riding than previously, split into distinct areas; beginner (flat/square obstacles on a firm car parking area), advanced (more angled and tricky stuff on a slightly less flat bit of land) and 'streety' (kickers, flat banks, etc on tarmac), but all 3 areas right next to each other. Joe has contacts for cars, skips, cable spools, scaffolding, flatbed trailer, etc so with enough notice he can get plenty of stuff! - Hoping to get 1-hour coaching slots available on each of the days (just need to bribe Stan, Cap, etc with some cake/biscuits). - If people want to do it, we could have a mini speed trial on the Saturday night after the beers have been flowing, with prizes. - And the best bit, the event would be completely FREE for everyone (although cars may need to pay ~£4 parking for the weekend which would go directly to the park, I need to chat to Joe about that. And you'll need to buy your own food of course!). Anyone up for that? Realistic ideas/suggestions also welcome Cheers, Ads

I was waiting for that reply Why would I tell you the cheaper one was just as good if it wasn't true?

Find someone local with VCDS? In 'cars that can be unlocked, started and driven without a key' news: Toni & Guy sponsorship soon I reckon.
-
On the 1.8, yes. On the 2.0 TFSi, they are very good.
-
Bingo! There's a tool to bore out the remains of the existing threads too, integrated into the oversized taps.
-
The kit is £100+ unfortunately.

You probably already know my opinion Spending that sort of money on 20bhp (if that) is insane in a £1200 car! Nick, looks pretty bloody quick to me, and if it looks fast on video it'll feel ballistic in real life. Anything with that sort of bhp/ton always has the potential to make you concentrate!

Pretty sure I have a free day so see you there -
Cheap, tatty, simple cars for your first one = win.

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought that would make a difference really. Probably more down to how much torque the hub shell itself transmits - if not much, the drive side tension will increase in relation to the non drive, pulling the wheel across. If the shell is stiff, it will transfer the torque through into the non drive spokes too, and tension increases in both sides at a more equal rate, and wheel stays central? And the frame and hub axle/mounting system will make a difference too, of course.

Next door to the old one On the left as you are facing the building. I'll be there if I'm free! -
- Patented offset mounting method allows the cylinders to be positioned slightly further out than standard mounts (but not further in - see photos), ideal if your rim is a little too wide for the frame. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/images/custom/large_tensilein.jpg http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/images/custom/large_tensileout.jpg

Standard thread. They can be tight, as they will tighten up when you pedal. - Bolt tool to FW (use an old square taper LH BB cup screwed into the FW) - Clamp tool in vice - Twat hole in lockring with old screwdriver/chisel and hammer
-
Hadn't thought of that actually - if it's the hub, it won't skip when you do that (because it will already be engaged and locked in place). If it's the chain wrap, it will.
-
Ok cool, well if it's skipping there will be noise - whether it's the chain or hub. Look forward to seeing what the solution is!
