  1. Apart from when cold, which is what we're talking about We're not saying they are pants (well, mine wouldn't even take 2 laps without disappearing, but that's a different story), just that OE pads are probably a better solution all things considered (including price!) for the use of the car.
  2. I mean scientifically, not you bodging the results so you win
  3. It would be fun to do the maths to prove OE pads stop you better from 100mph (not that you should be at that speed anyway) from cold given the same pedal force, but I can't be arsed. Haven't tried the RC6s, but RC5 and RC5+ have been good for me.
  4. What Paul and Liam said! The Carbone Lorraines are also poo from cold but at least they allow you to press on while on track (and are about the same price).
  5. I guess everyone is different. I could make OE pads useless in 60 seconds too, but you would never drive on the roads in that way. I've never had an issue with them, and I bet I could pilot the same car around a track on OE pads faster than you could with DS2500s I just don't see the need for expensive (what are they, £150?) pads on a road car when decent quality standard ones will be more than up to the job.
  6. Yeah I guess so George - makes sense. They seem popular anyway. For a daily driver, OE spec pads IMO.
  7. You couldn't out of me I would rather buy proper pads
  8. Good quality OE pads are all you need for road use. Notice the DS2500 friction curve only starts at 150 degrees (and that that point it's climbing fairly rapidly) - they are a bit scary when cold from my experience. If you drive hard on track they won't be up to it either, so for me they are one of those 'all rounder' items that's not really much good for anything.
  9. Just like my MX-5. But a little less manly.
  10. They are fine, but the Z610 is better. Wider doesn't necessarily mean stronger.
  11. The bars are 100% carbon, there is no 'aluminium reinforcement'...
  12. The tap is M18 x 1.0, it's a weird size. We have one if you need. I would go down the star nut route now though, as it sounds like the threads could be pretty mashed. The smallest one we sell (18mm) fits perfectly.
  13. The car will feel more pointy and responsive but it might actually have reduced grip...
  14. Normal rotors for the win, same brand as the pads you are using.
  15. Aaah, makes sense In general (all rotors of this style), the rivets batter the alloy centres and they fall apart... The Shimano ones seem to be holding up on Ali's bike though (but they are £££).
  16. Can't be steel cos it's anodised... And they would weigh a ton.
  17. Got plenty of big logos everywhere Haha, thanks - yeah it is easy Ended up being quicker (in lap time, he battered me with racecraft) than a chap who's been karting (and winning) at European and International level for the last 10 years so I was fairly happy with that!
  18. Haha - nice one. That will have been on Chris in the orange car I reckon... We are a growing series and I think there were at least 3 or 4 drivers who had never raced before, and one or two who'd never even driven a car on track before (other than doing their test) - so some of the guys may have been a bit slow / off line etc. They all had a great time though and learned a lot
  19. Sounds about right... oh well. Maybe have to have a moan then, as it increased everyone's entry fee by £40 to have the TV coverage. We should get a DVD with it on in 2-3 weeks but was curious to find out - cheers man!
  20. Fun day at Donington on Saturday... Here's my vid from Race 2. Started 4th in a bunch of 6 similarly-paced cars, again cocked up the start, then messed up in the race quite a lot and finished 7th. I was chuffed with my pace (qualified on pole, and fastest lap in both races) but I was too inconsistent and made too many mistakes in the races, which was pretty diasppointing. Video 'highlights' are as follows: 0:30 - Messing up the start by being too far back from the car ahead when the lights went out, then being too cautious throughout the first half of the lap. 1:05 - 3 abreast through Craner 2:33 - Tom closing the gap fairly forcefully 3:25 - Good run on James, passing into the chicane with Rodders up my inside - left him room but didn't come through 3:58 - Let Rodders through the inside and expected him to disappear into the distance... 4:17 - But nearly ran into the back of him at Old Hairpin! (He was in a borrowed car) 5:49 - Good speed through Old Hairpin, carrying the speed to pass Tom up the inside at the next right hander 8:10 - Good run on Josh out of the chicane, easy pass 8:55 - Getting cosy with Chris 9.38 - Good exit from chicane again... 9.56 - But screwed up again and lost both the places, dammit! 10:20 - Pass Josh up the inside again 11:42 - Oversteer down Craner, then Sam getting twitchy through Old Hairpin 12:27 - Good run on Sam... But overcooked it in quite a big way 14:50 - One handed drift through Old Hairpin, allowing Tom to pass me 15:30 - Slipstreamed him to make the pass... but screwed up again 16:23 - Too hot into Old Hairpin, gave it up and went grass-tracking 17:15 - Alan outbraked himself into the last corner, sat in the run off before the chicane After the race I realised one of my front pads was down to the metal - that may have had something to do with the lack of retardation towards the end of the race! (Racing Driver Excuse #457) Did anyone see the TV footage? How was it?
  21. That does sound like bullshit, and the 'ohh your muscles look painful' bit reminded me of the Mr Kennedy from The Inbetweeners. Thanks for putting my insurance premiums up (Nah, seriously, you are NOT one of the people I blame for that!)
  22. It's live coverage from Donington this weekend
  23. If the front end doesn't feel like it wants to pull up, you need higher bars or a shorter cockpit - roll the bars back IMO. This will also help with taps.
