So good, as always. Thank you for sharing, Ben. You've done it all in those 28 years, mad kudos! π

Have a look at Cane Creek Slamset if you need to pinch a bit more space for a short steerer.

Reasons to avoid and-or buy the Spank Hex Drive Hub (102T).
AdamR28 replied to javimic's topic in Trials Chat
Its hard to quantify, but I notice this a lot. POEs is a useful metric but doesn't tell the full story. A King at 72 POE but ring drive will actually give you drive faster than - say - an 88 POE pawl type since after the click, the freehub needs to rotate a little before the pawls are engaged. The Halo SupaDrive 120 is really "bad" for this as an example, since the pawls slide and act like a wedge - yes there are technically 120 POEs, but it is absolutely more than 3 degrees from click to full engagement. Depending on how the Spank looks inside, could be totally normal / fine / undamaged. Wear is another factor as Serge said, with pawl seats stretching and allowing pawls to be "dragged" forward, so they need to re-seat before engagement. -
Would hazard a guess at differences in calibration / accuracy of the two different sets of scales.

Ashton, I think...?

Pretty common still. Example... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291581098041

1 is compatible, but might be a bit more squishy feeling (though will give more braking power) If you can find the part then 2 would be my first call. That brake is closing in on 20 years old now though...!

And pretty much anything that's 10mm bolt in can be converted to 12mm through with a 12mm drill bit π

Sounds more like a BB / crank / pedal noise if it is more noticeable on one side.

π As above. -
Seriously impressive, amazing work! ππ

All black bikes with bright coloured frames... winning π

New gadget released this week, Axle Blockers to ensure rear wheels don't slip forward: https://www.tartybikes.co.uk/other_frame_spares/tartybikes_rd_axle_blocker/c127p14321.html Can be used in conjunction with the Hybrid tensioner for a super reliable setup on any horizontal dropouts π

No problem! Looks like the CNC backings are going ahead with a small manufacturer about 5 miles from the Tarty warehouse. Great to keep things local where possible π

Carbon road cranks for a trials bike? I love a sketchy, inappropriately used Chinese bike part, but that's too far IMO. Maybe the money would be better spent elsewhere. Rotating weight perhaps? What is the rest of your spec now?
-
Yes, exactly that. All of the TNN stock, designs, intellectual property, contacts etc. were purchased from TNN a while ago (not sure on the exact date, maybe a year ago?). It's taken a while to find UK suppliers / manufacturers who will mould the pads to the exacting spec required, but it looks like things are finally moving forward now!

Yes, testing of the 3rd prototype has been perfect, so after one further tiny tweak and assembly they should be available for sale in around 10-14 days. Three mounting positions (narrow, middle and wide), very low profile so nice and stiff, and a reinforced brake boss to ensure strength and durability π Pads... I'm not certain on this one. Ben & Charlie have been taking care of the TNN side of things. I know there has been good progress this last week though with both CNC companies for backings and pad material supplier: https://www.tartybikes.co.uk/brake_pad_refills/tnn_engineering_btm_refills/c552p14305.html I am sure my brainpower will be drafted in at some stage to help with V pads π

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I nearly pulled the trigger on a 240 for my MTB recently, but 90 EPs will be even better. Glad I waited / forgot now, haha.

Tensioners now available, first batch sold out overnight but we've got some more made up: TartyBikes RD Hybrid Tensioner Cheeky Disc Protector including a slot (rather than the usual hole) at the axle end so it can be fitted and removed easily. This allows you to use the slot at the bottom as disc straightener tool: TartyBikes RD Disc Protector 'Wideboy' brake booster also now in stock, ready for release of V-Brake adaptors in the near future: TartyBikes RD 'Wideboy' V-Brake Booster

Thank you π I've never actually heard of Boulhol until just now. That frame and the wheels are absolutely wild! So cool.
-
Glad you are enjoying it! Went out in one of these at Oulton Park recently and it was a right thing. Felt much more lively than the usual FWD stuff like Golfs etc. Really impressive.

Well that were reet good π thanks again for leading such a cracking route Luke, definitely keen for another sometime. Although perhaps at a slightly reduced pace as that was pretty mental at times, haha, you are some pedaller dudeπ Anyone else fancy it?
