Trek says: ZR 9000 is a proprietary alloy hardened with zirconium – producing frames that are 15% stronger and 15% lighter than industry standard aluminum. Our tests show that ZR 9000 increases the fatigue strength of a frame by up to five times.
  2. Onza isn't that bad, I used to think they were shit bikes, but infact, i've come to favour them over many bike brands including Koxx and Monty. :P They have a big range of frames for many types of riders, they're new T-Pro is U6 alloy and features an internal headtube and extra gussets welded onto the undersides of chainstays. The T-Pro was really from 2004, a copy of the Levelboss 20", but now, on paper it's better than the Levelboss: stronger headtube, extra gussets, U6 alloy rather than Koxx's 6061. Their new T-Mag looks promising, and I'm loving the beefy chainstays :) The new T-Rex looks nice and is sort of more or less the same thing as the Pitbull and Coustellier and Dave@tartybikes has shown me pictures of his T-Rex scracthed to bugger on the downtube, yet no major dents AT ALL!" Onza's weak points and reputation ruiners could be things like the T-Raptor snapping on the chainstay fast, and the 2004 T-Pro on the downtube, stuff like that. But Onza, I think, have improved from the mistakes, and should either ditch the T-Raptor or re-design it with beefier chainstays or something. Mind you, Onza do use the strong internal headtube set up not to be confused with integrated. So it's supposed to be stronger than even a Chris King Nothreadset-up. Oh and also their T-Mag/T-Master/T-Comp style frame wasn't too good either. But I'm sure ditching the T-Comp for good and re-designing the T-Master in the mould of a Python would be great for Onza! :P Plus, Onza are dirt cheap compared to other brands, wink wink Koxx. Monty are pretty expensive too I reckon, I mean it's pretty silly getting a Monty 221 ti for £1200 when you can get the much stronger and street-suitable Zoo! Python or Echo Team or an Onza T-Pro 2005 and T-Mag 2005 for cheaper. :P Anyway, enough of this ranting and raving. I just hope Onza release some of their 'Five Prototype mod frames' :P"

Well, Sam Holmes did encourage me to post this topic, and no I don't want a campaign of Don't buy Zoos!. Da Mike, I like Zoo! as well, and I want them to keep being produced, because they are awesome bikes. But, guys, seriously what would last longer, a Python 2005 or a Team 2005? I'll go for the Python regardless of this stuff Dan told me about crack forming on the sideplate. Anyway, I should be getting a brand new Python 2004 or 2005 depneding on what my mum finds in China for about £50-£80 frame only. I even saw an Echo Team bike but with V-brakes and Amoeba parts going for £200 worth. China is the land of trials bargains, hehe, only £50-£80 for a slick Python or a Team come to that.

I personally still think the Python is an awesome frame, but yes I did think that the sideplate would fall off, Dan never said that, he just said it would crack at one point. BUT, Dan why do you hate Pythons so much?

Dan Hardman is the man to question about this, he told me all this, and he's a good engineer, and it's apparantly common knowledge for engineering.
  6. Well, only some deluded deunce would think black is not a color. Think about it all things in the paintbox are colored paint. Yeah and whoever thinks black and white aren't colors are poorly educated people who should know these common knowledge things anyway. ALL of my teachers who are all past Oxford/Cambridge or other good university graduates say that black and white are colors. Here's where you're getting confused: Black and white DO exist as colors in the paintbox, BUT in light, black kind of doesn't exist. In light, it's a shade yes. Black light bulbs: ever been in Thorpe Park or some theme park? Well, if you've ever been to laser quest or somewhere dark and 'fancy' you'll see all your white parts of clothing etc. go blue/purple very luminously. Black bulbs, when lit give off the Ultra Violet light. My point is Black and white are definitely colors, because they are in the bloody paintbox!!! The day black and white are not colors anymore, is the day when frames are made of oxygen.

    Pad Reviews

Pads: Heatsink Batch C (not prototypes) Time used: 4 weeks Rim used: Koxx Gold Rim 19" Grind: Worn Ceramic: No Brake used: Magura HS33 2004 What is your opinion of a working brake: A brake which holds your wheel(s) firm and super hard when the lever is pulled, and releases immediately when the lever is released. How do they compare to previous pads you have used: Old Koolstops do not compare Tar: Worn out bit embedded in grind Review: I got these pads from Mr Spurgeon a few weeks ago, I think I may have got one of the first pairs of Batch C's to be publically released. Right, the pads when they came had about 8 or so mm of material on the backing, I had to cut it down to about 3.5mm to fit my Bike's Rear end. They give a nice and strange squirming squeak, not at all like the traditional loud squeal that most pads make. On my setup, these pads do not slip at all, they grip firmly and hold it hard. These pads were designed intentionally for Tryall/Koxx Rims which are made of soft aluminium. I have used these in the pouring rain and muddy conditions when I am doing North Shore trails Trials-style. Simply excellent pads for a bargain price. Magura's own pads don't compare, Koxx Bloxx aren't as good, Rimjam Red's are extremely close behind though. 10/10
