Sweet, once was mine! I've got an Echo Team stem for sale, if you want to buy it? (no swap)

Freecoasters.. I was actually thinking of getting a serious flatlander not long ago, but the whole idea of this type of hub seems awfully complex! But, I'm going to be riding a bit of brakeless once I've built together a bike (frame ordered, still need to decide on other bits). I expect brakeless is ridiculously hard to get used to at first and then eventually gets rather suave after a while? The only thing I'm concerned about is the safety factor behind brakeless.. when I want to do dirt or park/ramp riding. Anyone do these without brakes? Oh yeah, and something I've been rather curious about: how come 95% of BMXers I see are grinding/jumping to the side of their forward foot? I know why trials riders do it to the back foot side normally, but I'm surprised that less BMXers are doing it to the back foot side. I'm going to be doing pegless riding and brakeless riding at the same time for street, so I'll have to do pedal grinds Josh Bedford-esque to the back pedal, so it's LHD for me. In any case, I'm still debating over which rear hub to get. Proper Magnalite or Odyssey Hazard?

Woo, chuffed with the speedy replies from Gaz@MutinyBikes Now I've made a decision on the frame, i'll have to choose other bits, I was considering the following and your opinions would be great Madera Protocol crankset (It includes a Hop Up kit right?) Shadow Attack stem Shadow Fork OR Odyssey Svelte Pro Dirt fork FSA Impact headset (or is there another integ. headset that's more popular?) Of course, an extra exam question for OBM:
-
Sinister it is then... (20.6) Now I just have to decide on the colour... If the Shadow version is not available anymore (I hear its very limited!) then I'll stick with Raw.
-
Cheers yet again! I got off the phone with Half-Pipe and Seventies Distribution, and from what they say, I have a pretty decent idea about the frames I should genuinely be looking at. I think I'll steer clear of the Burlish Hold Fast seeing as it's pretty pre-ordered to nothingness. I liked the 2006 Eden as it was available in smaller sizes and in a hot green colour. But now, I think I'll only bother with: 2007 Captain 20.5 (Raw or pink, I can't decide) 2007 Sinister 20.6 2007 Sinister-Shadow 20.6 (if it's even available?) The Nocturnal seems a bit overkill for a rider like me, as I'm not a guilty frame denter/crusher in any wheeled sport. I'll need to study and compare the geos and other facts of the Sinister and Captain frames before making a decision. As for right now, it's an email to Gaz@MutinyBikes. PLAN.

Thanks Mark, There are still so many choices though, from the Mutiny range... I am really unsure on what to get. I've been told about the Captain '07 being too heavy at 6lbs by eskimo and that the headangle on it doesnt make it responsive..? 2006 Eden (Light green) 2007 Captain (Pink or Raw) 2007 Sinister (Raw) 2007 Sinister-Shadow Conspiracy 2007 Burlish Hold Fast 2007 Burlish (Raw) 2007 Nocturnal (Raw) ^The exact choices incl. colour I'd like (ones in bold are more preferable). At this stage, I'm not too sure on exactly what. And when I do come to make the choice, it's gotta be 100% clear. I can see slight pros and cons of each frame, but seriously, opinions on geometry? I'm of course going for a 20.5 tt, but it's the HA that's bugging me on these frames as I'm not too clear on what I'm meant to be looking for in terms of a 'decent' HA. Remember I'm riding street mostly, but park and very small Dirt thrown in. I see on the Captain that it's got a wishbone split at the BB area, which most of the other Mutiny frames don't... is this a plus for street? Lastly, Mark, what TT was your '06 Sinister and your new Burlish Hold Fast? Just out of curiousity. EDIT: Yet another question, (this is like an exam ) What's the Mutiny-Shadow Cons. deal? And by 'one time production' what exactly does it mean on the limited colour parts? I'm getting confused by some people insisting on it being only one of each being made, and others stating that its in larger but limited quantities. I'm guessing the second of the two?
-
A question for Mark or anyone in the know... Burlish Hold Fast frame, much changed from the normal Burlish? I know of the gussets welded onto the chainstays... but other than that? Thicker dropouts than 4mm? Thicker tubing? and only 20 in the country? Sounds like rather like how Profile once claimed that Tangerine hubs were in very limited quantities in the world..
-
I knew most of that already, but cheers nonetheless! So basically, Josh's Burlish will not be brake compatible, for those brakeless addicts out there? Also, am i right in thinking that the 4mm dropouts on the normal trail Burlish are still featured on Josh's? Thus meaning the Josh Burlish is still not recommended for peg use? Plus, are they gonna change the tubing thickness on Josh's Burlish from the normal Burlish?.. 'Cause the normal Burlish is said to be rather thin. If the Josh Burlish is what I think it is, then why's OBM got one?... Unless, actually, he's a pegless grinder too isn't he? Options, options... hmm. Now down to: '06 Captain '07 Captain '06 Eden '07 Sinister '07 Nocturnal I don't know if I'd want the Josh Bedford Burlish anymore, as I have been a keen peg grinder before. Unless the dropouts and tubing thickness have changed from the normal Burlish... EDIT: nevermind, got a frame ordered, but which one is it?
-
Where abouts did you get yours from, out of curiosity? By saying 20 in the country, are we talking 20 made up of like 4 variations:? Raw 20.25 Raw 21 Grey 20.25 Grey 21 So 5 of each? I'm seeing if the shop that's offering me a trade deal, can get in a Bedford Burlish, as the rest of the Mutiny frames don't seem to be for my riding style, except the Sinister, but I want to see if the Bedford Burlish is worth a gander. It's just a street/peg compatible edition of the usual Burlish right? Might just have to get a hold of Ride Issue 100 just to have a look at the Bedford bike...
-
Just got offered a great deal... Loads of mid-range components for trade price from a friend, .. of my choice. (strictly mid-range, as in no cassette hubs and no fancy £150 forks, Still fooking happy). But I have to buy a Mutiny frame from his shop in order for this deal to work (full price frame, but get other parts trade). So what frame should I get? These are the ones on my mind: 2006 Eden (the bright kawasaki green 'un) 2007 Sinister 2007 Captain (pink or raw'uns) 2007 Burlish and perhaps the Josh Bedford Burlish Holdfast... but i can't seem to find online info anywhere. I guess this solution is better as buying a complete bike elsewhere would mean most components would be ones I wanna replace. This Mutiny trade deal seems more attractive as I get a frame for keeps, at the same time nice mid-range stuff (I'm thinking £50 odyssey forks for starters) Suggestions, ideas? For the frames mainly? I am totally lost on what I want to get for a frame. The Burlish is so tempting, but I want to do street and I want to grind a lot. Perhaps the Josh Bedford Burlish Holdfast if the shop can get that one in as I hear it's rather LTD edition? Well, I am right in thinking the JB Burlish-Holdfast is just a tougher street version of the normal Burlish, right? Anyone mind taking a pic of the Josh Bedford bikecheck page from the Ride BMX issue 100 mag for me? I'd like to know more about the BurlishHoldfast before choosing any frame. Thanks in advance.

Ah I see I now Cheers poopipe! Hmm... yet ANOTHER option has popped into my hands... this time it's in the form of a decent but stupidly cheap Ares flatlander. (I am terrible at sticking with one option in my head!) Are flatland frames/bmxs alright for lightweight street or simple dirt riding? I'm talking techy smooth bunnyhop/manual/180 lines for street, no harsh stuff like grinds or big stair jumps. They seem rather lightweight and stupidly tiny bikes but do they have enough oomph for a bit of basic street and dirt? or will it feel as stupid as trying trials with a DH bike? I've owned a basic flatlander in the past... but that kinda got neglected and turned into an orange statue after 2 years behind a yew bush On top of that, what is the deal with the flatland-specific type handlebars and forks? They look much different to the 'conventional' BMX versions... Sorry for all the questions, but I'd rather know about what I'm getting myself into, to prevent making a stupid decision. Again, thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice mark Sadly, the pink Bump's been sold onto another buyer as of today So, i'll have to go with my second plan... http://www.mirrabikeco.com/bikes/bp1.htm Hmm... it is rather tasty, considering it's price... I need a BMX anyways, don't care if it's not amazing, just that it works without feeling like turd. I just want one for fitness reasons, general thrashing about, and of course... Fun. EDIT: A few questions.. for those gurus out there! 1. Mid and US BBs... what's the deal with them? I see high end frames using Mid all the time and hardly any using US anymore. Pros and cons of each? 2. Is Euro a bad option for harsh street use, when compared to Mid or US?... Considering how badly Euro threads and BBs fail on trials bikes... If Euro's a more preferable option over US.. then i might go for the Mirraco BP2 instead of the BP1. Whichever one's gonna cause me less grief! Lastly... any idea of when Mirraco's in the UK? and who deal's 'em? Thanks in advance.

About to buy a second hand GT Bump '06. Zee pink one on google, if it helps remind you of the spec... Basically, it's standard spec, except for a 36H Profile Imperial sprocket, rear brake only, Odyssey JC pedals, Shadow Conspiracy slim saddle, no pegs and no chaintugs. I am quite happy with the frame, forks, bar, stem, crankset, wheelset... for now. But the things I do immediately want to upgrade are the following: Tyres Brake pads (maybe other brake-related stuff like a good cable?) Chain tugs 1 pair of 14mm pegs Brake lever maybe? What do you guys recommend? I'm not after particularaly high-end things, but just decent priced upgrades that change a horrible feeling bike into a nice feeling one. I was thinking along the lines of a Hookworm 1.95 rear and possibly a Maxxis Hoodlum or Maxx Daddy 2.3 up front? I will primarily be riding street just for fun. As for pegs and chaintugs... what's well-priced and works well? Perhaps some chaintugs and pegs which can work with eachother would be nice, as the problems I had in the past were not being able to get a peg to work with a chaintug together! I have been told that Odyssey GI pegs are worth a shot. Chaintugs are more important to me though as I'd like something which works with pegs nicely but at the same time has a reputation for doing its job without any fail. Brake pads? Thinking of Heatsink Vees... Finally, you guys reckon I should have my rear brake lever as the LH lever? Right now the second hand Bump I'm buying has it mounted on the right. Perhaps it might be better to have it on the left, as my mod'll have the rear on the left of course... Or not? Thanks in advance... (awaiting OBM and Poopipe to comment )

A rather low bar and stem setup for a Monty! Looks nice though, i thought you had a team 07?
-
An XTP was the last thing I expected you to get! Looks nice though. It makes me jealous, because I'm physically unable to ride my bike, even though it's freshly built up completely. woohoo 6 month injury and still counting... ...

Rather Harsh!

Perhaps posting means an automatic jinxing. Unless you're Chai It was pretty good, but didn't catch up after Tate, because a certain someone got his Nth puncture, and later made a HORRIBLE stack . Riding along a rail and jumping off the end onto an 8 set of steps, ankle first . (at speed and at great height)

I took this scene out of a DVD and edited it with some other extra parts (tramp and credits) quite a while back and put it onto this forum originally. This video still does not cease to inspire me. Unis can't be too bad, considering someone on a trials uni got the highest ever placement against bikes in a pro biketrials competition (2nd, Motorama Pro Category 2005, and 2006 Racoon Rally 2nd place Pro Mod Category). Either American trials riders are average, or unicycles can keep up with bikes

As someone mentioned earlier, this new brake could be the design of several different people, eg: Deng Zhi Magura 2007/2008? Hope Another brand I think it's a little silly to come up with assumptions that it is indeed a Deng product, who knows? No official evidence has been given yet, it could well just be a Magura prototype... Even if it were Deng or Zhi or another brand, knowing how things work in this modern world, they will have found some loophole somewhere.
