Finally got round to fixing my CAD files and I have printed out one half of my boot pin seal mould...it fits the original seal so I have done at least one part right :cool: The second half is currently printing and should be ready when I wake up tomorrow :hope: I'll wax them up (as a release agent) and use some cheap silicone as a test to see if it's all good. There are 3D printable rubbers available (not cheap) that I may have a play with if this is successful.

The chaps are claiming bhp increasing from 125bhp to 150-200bhp with no reliability issues so far. No way to map, it's a mechanical injection system! As above it is mechanical injection, the engines are pretty robust so they should be ok with low boost but like Luke said it must be fairly crude I have built my version of an AAV (Auxilliary Air Valve-gives the engine unmetered air to increase engine idle speed when cold), it bench tests fine so now we shall see how well it works in real life... If it is all good then the next step is to build it all into one unit with the valve so that it is all tidy, for now it has long wires so that I can access the board and tweak the temperature it responds to. Just need an excuse to take the car out to test it...

So there has been some n/a 924s that have had turbos whacked onto them and the only other change is fuelling turned up apart from exhaust and an oil feed. Can it really be as simple as that? I understand the fabrication effort for the exhaust and that isn't an issue for me at all. I think my car has an area for an oil feed for the turbo as it shares most parts in common with the 924 turbo engine. I always thought there was more to fitting a turbo to an n/a engine, but this is all they claim to have done. Does this sound about right?

Not sure if you guys remember the Audi A3 1.8T me and my girlfriend (now ex) had. There was an issue with the car using lots of oil, this has got worse and worse and so I advised her to see the VAG specialist I had look at my Porsche. It turns out the newer 1.8Ts and 2.0Ts (09 onwards) are quite different to the ones most of you have and were fitted with laser cut piston rings wearing at a fast rate, these are now causing many folk troubles. The engine requires removal and most bottom end parts replaced, parts alone price up as being over £3500. It is actually cheaper to buy a complete brand new engine and have that fitted, so this is what she is looking to do as the cars worth f**k all in its current state. Something for people to consider if they are looking at VAG cars of that age with those particular engines fitted as apparently Audi are getting quite a few in now (they have 12 brand new engines in stock in the UK, that suggests this must be a common issue!)

MIG, is there anything wrong with the weld then? They seem very secure! Seats are in now, they are sooooo comfy and huggy enough to keep you in place but also not super tight so that they are uncomfortable for longer journeys.

Seat fitting time! The seats had been sitting in a damp shed for a while... sitting next to the woodburner and a good hoovering has done wonders! I will give them a proper clean once they are fitted. Seats side by side, the Porsche ones are overdue a refurb! New brackets being welded on, not much needed doing to make the Impreza seats mount to the Porsche mounting points Seat fitted to the passenger side, works as it should! The drivers side seat is pretty much ready to fit now, it's just the handbrake that is causing me troubles as it is hitting the seat rail... I have removed the mounting point to modify it so that the handbrake will go towards the door more, this will require me either losing the door bin or modifying it so my hand doesn't hit it, I don't use it so it may as well go...

Relocating the handbrake mounting is a wanker, it's going to be tight as fookery in there! Getting closer now, the drivers seat felt so good when I had it briefly mounted

So I've been pondering on more poverty changes to my car and lowering is one of them. The back is easy (well, cheap at least) as it's just a case of changing the spline position on the rear arms. The front requires either shorter springs or coilovers. I currently have 1 coil chopped off my standard springs, it's fine but I'd like to fine tune the ride height+ coilovers are cool points. I have 2 spare bodies, 2 Golf MK4 front coilovers (sans dampers as they are shot) and a welder. Full height Lowered height If I cut my spare 924 struts and welded the threaded section of the Golf struts to them, I could quite easily avoid buying sleeves (which would not fit nicely as the 924 struts have a bulge at the top) and create some budget coilovers. The top mount fits to the top spring plate nicely and that lowers the overall assembly by about an inch which is what my current ride height is lowered by. This should mean I have a nice range of suspension height to choose from. Is there anything wrong with doing it this way? Should I also sleeve the welded section afterwards? The bodies both have similar sized tubing (the Golf one looks to be slightly larger in diameter but I don't have my calipers here to give an exact measurement).

I gave up on the solid panel to go in place of the grille as it just looked wrong, even if it did have some brown vinyl wrap to match the dash. I found a spare grille and got hacking It looks far better now, although I really need to fit red bulbs to the rest of the dash as only a few gauges have them I also investigated the handbrake issue further, modifying the actual lever will be a sod and I don't think too easy either, but I can move the brackets that the lever mounts to about 1.5-2cm outwards which is nearly what I need as the Impreza seats are 5cm wider (but I can mount them as close to the tunnel as possible too to give me a little more give)

If that's your only concern then go for it, just whack oil down the piston bores before starting so they don't run dry.

I cut out the temp gauge holes in my dash speaker cover thingy, it needs posts to secure it and then wrapping in brown vinyl. Also I drilled out some bolts so I can bond in the sensor and then I'll figure out where I am going to fit it, I may make a tube with a nut welded in. One sensor is going to be coolant temp and the other I guess will just be outside temperature as that's always handy to know.

It's whoever my actual policy is with that says no annoyingly. The fact they will let me swap my seats is good seeing as they don't usually allow modifications, I just claimed that the stock ones were uncomfortable and I wanted to do longer journeys. My policy ends July so I'll get all my replacement bits ready for the new policy So far I either have/have the parts to make/intend to buy: Subaru Impreza seats Rear seat delete Wheel spacers (until I convert to 5 stud wheels) Saab 9000 lower valance trimmed to fit the front 944 rear valance Rear half cage Convert front struts to coil over Vented pop up lamp cover I want to to be a track orientated car that can still be used as a daily, this means the cage may end up being an issue I really want to go wide arch but I'm trying to do the cheaper stuff right now until the engine swap happens

Weird, Adrian Flux will let me fit new front seats for £13 but won't insure me if I remove my rear ones...

The standard handle rubs against the seat, so I guess I'll just have to make the seat fit as tightly against the centre tunnel as possible and then rework the handbrake mounting points in order to get around the issue, the joys of fitting non standard parts eh?
