will the paint still stick? i just dont want to go and waste my time.... have you done it before?
-
righty i have a chrome monty x alp, and love it to pieces-tis a great lil bike, but im not keen on the chrome so much now, and id ideally like to paint over it, but the trouble is i seem to remember as a child painting my chrome bmx rims and to my horror seeing all the paint peel off.... now just maybe, i did a shit spray job, but ive heard of others having similar problems, so is there anyway of spraying over chrome? is there a speacial undercoat you can buy to allow the paint to stick better? or do i have to strip it? in that case how? maybe im just stuck with a chrome frame forever.... any help would be appreciated, i could keep it as it is, but its too shiny..... :"> cheers, paul :D

f**kin amazing until mine cuts out at 6:54........can anyone help me on that? -
well done ben, you've got far better :- and the music choice may not quite suit the riding, but i like that song loads and its not stupidly fast and heavy so you get points there ;) be good to ride again soon matey

ah well cheers lads, not to worry (Y)

hey guys, just wanted to know if i could whack the ti freehub body from my spare bulb into my xc? figured its spare and itll save a few grams lol, i would find out for myself but id rather not have to faff around if i can get a simple answer here (Y) cheers, paul
-
if that was intended at me, i was only joking!
-
those crank have a pretty shite bb interface (Y) and i dunno how they are gonna get pedals to stay in with no threads he he nah they look far nicer than the standard tensiles, altho are starting to look a little middleburn esque.....but meh, if they work well im not fussed, the current tensiles are great but a bit ugly i find so these would be a very tempting upgrade the mech saver is an interesting idea, like to see how that fares, im presuming it will work with a surly or whatever other ss tensioners are available?
-
im pretty sure they were doing a buy 1, get 1 free deal?
-
not till september ive herd (Y) im waiting to get 1 too apparently the mtb profile hubs are pants, which i dont get, seems silly how the mod/bmx hubs are so damn good!
-
tis quite liekly the bearings are shagged, im guessing they have cartidge bearings, if so, get them replaced (Y)
-
same here, well i did it a while back, i really didnt get along with my king-not a necessary upgrade i can notice the difference, sure i can, my xc feels tons better :P and is more reliable :D but thats down to personal preference, most people would love to own a chris king, and most people who own them wouldnt have anything else.... anyways back to the topic, its quite likely you have broken your ratchet, check inside if you feel confident enough, its very easy, otherwise your best bet is hope, its very likely they will fix it for free.....or for very little :D
-
usually 7-10pounds depending on the weight of the frame and packaging, thats 2nd class via royal mail which often isnt very slow, but if it is slow its usually uber slow
-
but that is to adjust lever reach.......the sooner you set the brake to come on the further away the lever is im very tempted by this avid brake, as im now having troubles with my setup (N) ill just see how long it lasts with your abuse (N)

o yeah lol, id also recomend some dmr mk2s (not mk3s as they are crap apparently) but wont you have difficulty gettin leeson to fit the crank properly? wont a longer axle be required? theres nowt wrong with middleburns, most people use them happily enough bash wise, the betd is a good choice, i run an old ddg bash for 3 pieces and its great, ask edd potts (dave85) and he can probably machine you a nice 1 up :- if you have to run isis, check out the dmr crisis cranks, they look to be good, but will require a 4 bolt ring and bash basicaly any of the above will last, just steel cranks are better for the streety riders i find, i wouldnt wanna go back to alloy cranks again on my curtis
-
rity then-i may have of confused with bits, so ill try my best pashleys, lowered mount sfor 24, presumably leeson is doing it for you? headset-just get a pig they are cheaper and last ages :D you sure you need gears? personally id go singlespeed.... :S get 2004 maguras not 05s, the 04s are far more reliable :P are moto diggers good enuff for rear? maybe a 24inch minion would be better? nokian dh tube upfront as well? no need.... :- have you accounted for: headset spacers, grips, spokes, wheel build costs, seat, crank bolts? booster? chains-get a kmc kool from tartybikes/supercycles :( everything else is fine as far as i can see, o and personally id run a grind, im not keen on smooth rims hope ive been of some assistance!
-
yup avids are the tits, whilst we are on the subject of avids, have many people tried the ebc red pads on them? just my pads are on their last legs! what are they like?
-
imagine gettin tarty to build them for you :- bet he woudnt be best pleased! they look an absolute bitch to build and true, bad enough doin 48 spoke bmx wheels... edit: check ths baby out, and look at the price....
-
got a x ess frame, mint, add me to msn :S
-
ha ha ha yeah i just relaised who owns this bike, dude why own such lush bikes if you cant ride them........seems pointless to me :S
-
your rim was rubbing on the rim? im guessing you mean brake.... get tart to build you wheel, its quite likely that your dad isnt quite as experienced as him....
-
sorry i have no measurements, but is 4x really necessary? you backwheel will weigh a ton.....get a good builder on 3x and itll be fine
-
but gear cables are thinner so a brake cable wont fit in a gear outer surely? ive never tried it though so i could be wrong....
