  1. doesnt that require receipts for each purchase? my insurance company wouldnt replace my bike as it was a custom build and i didnt have proof of each component over what came as standard.......and as id changed the bikes build they wouldnt even pay for what the bike originally cost me when it came outta the shop-tossers  needless to say ive changed my insurance company :P
  2. i used to have a habit of cracking pig headset bearings, and ive cracked a orbit cup, but they were all majorly old headsets i cant see the problem personally, if it breaks just claim it on warranty thing is you arent really saving that much weight, seems a bit pointless, but its up to you-personally id go for something like hope or king that are both reknowned for strength and durability
  3. thats a feckin ace description, made me chuckle  yeah just give the piston a quick oil and it shoudl be fine, if the louise has a brass barrel (i cant remember if any of mine did) give that a light grease/oil whilst you at it, they tend to make noises on hopes anyway edit: oops just repeated mark
  4. im guessing you just dont like the chunky look of those boosters? id say ye olde echo, my rbs were shite in comparison to the echo i have best thing is a xtr carbon drilled for 4 bolt :) or just make you own, c'mon you dirty bodger
  5. creepys are the best, and uber cheap ive never used echoes though.....but the general masses use maxxis tyres on both mod and stock (i most certainly do) and are happy :)
  6. maxxis minion/high roller in 42a super tacky intense blurrs were pretty hardcore and came in a nice soft but hard wearing compound ermmmmmm thats all id recomend really-maxxis minions being my favourite by far :)
  7. grease is fine for me i rarely tighten my sqr taper cranks on my mod, just do them up a few times when new, and they seem to stay happy, i check them every so often and they dont seem to have budged :D just give them a proper tighten, really go for it, and then go ride and you should be able to forget all about it.....
  8. secondhand upgrades presumably? just the cranks and bash look well....a bit battered, and if they are 'new' then he must smack them pretty hard and alot anyways nice enough bike, liking the gold :D
  9. id say leeson for sure as much as i like my curtis, its just seems far to overpriced and from what ive heard they are far heavier than leesons with little, if any, strength gain.... one thing that sets to two companys apart majorly is the customer service, gary from curtis is very rude, and from what ive heard clive from leeson is quite opposite
  10. dude an eno would piss over a hope xc, i have run both and like my eno alot now run an eno on a revolver hub, with a choice of middleburns or tensiles on a 22t ring and you have a superb combo for begger all money  i really liked my tensiles when i had them, well strong and stiff but unfortunately the bike they were on was nicked.... i also have sum middleburns, they are pretty nice too, and look pretty good, nobody seems to really get any probems with them B) personally id go for 3 piece cranks everytime, they have the best feeling and are strong as fook :) im unsire on the bts, never used them, but be careful on the warranty-at least with the burns and tensiles you know they have a good after sales service :)
  11. undo top cap, undo stem, remove, tap top of steerer and the forks should just fall out, then remove the crown race from the bottom of the steerer next to the crown put crown race onto new forks, put new forks in (may have to have the steerer trimmed) add spacers if necessary and then put you stem back in (and also add a starnut/other headset adjusting device) tighten it all and hey presto, simple explanation for a simple job :D
  12. the best forks you will ever get for the price they are superb, easily soem of the nicest forks ive ever tried, and thats comparing them to the higher costing forks ive used ryan leech uses them, isnt that more than enough reason to buy them?!
  13. dont be mean joe, marks not that ugly  but yeah its almost uncanny love you george
  14. unless im mistaken you claim to own a bikeshop.........or at least in with all these big companies, so surely you are capable of gettin a few bolts from your shop/working it out yourself? feck i only have a small buisiness and i stock a huge amount of bolts to cater for various jobs :)
  15. havent you just answered your own question there? if you cant deal with doing the brakes and bearings yourself, then get a shop/friend to do them-kinda obvious really matey try and learn yaself, its worth it in the end (Y)
  16. i can make an adaptor if you need one, im currently producing 1 for myself and spud on the forum, add me to msn/pm me if you are interested (Y)
  17. stanley knifes cut metal now do they? im pretty sure facing isnt just removing just the paint, it requires some of the metal to be taken off to create a flat surafce to mount upon :)
  18. good question, i need some too ever thought about buying some tubing with the correct od of the bars and id of the stem and then cuttin it so it would convert it? just a thought and lots of hassle i spose
  19. cant go too far wrong with easton ea70s :) the azonic dw bars have an awesome shape but are notoriously weak :P unless the new ones are any better ;) i run some truvativ hussefelt bars on my mod, and they feel well good, and they are triple butted, bargain :)
  20. gold bore caps on the hope discs? thats very poor attention to detail :P well except on the gold bike, which made me pitch a tent due to the goldness :) so finally ther eis a company that can challenge viz with their only real strength, a range of colours...... and beat them off with some strong reliable components ;)
  21. edd potts quoted nearer the 400 mark......im gonna do a bit of research 2morra :(
  22. wicked, ok ill see if i can find out if theres any others for that money, ill go up to 100 i reckon cos its worth it in the long run for me as i often see tatty bikes.... which one do you at work? would it be worth me gettin a aprk 1? cheers for you help :-
  23. thats the kinda tool i wanted, is it any good, will it last a fair few uses? just i fix bike for people, bit of pocket money and im sure itll pay it self off pretty easily, i already have 2 frames in my shed that need it done due to tits with no idea about fittin bbs.... :-
  24. hey there, i received a specialised p2 frame a while back off a mate which was mint apart form the old bb was stuck in and he had sawn the tabs off to remove it with in a desperate attempt to fit a new frame.......he wouldnt listen to me about the proper tool........crazy fool anyway i sold him my spare frame and he gave me this to try and fix for myself, and so today i finally got round to fixing it, woooo due to the way in which the bb cups were stuck and situated, the only way i could get them out was with a hammer and a screwdriver, breaking it into pieces which worked :- trouble is some of the threads got damaged, which didnt surprise me so now to the question, where can i get a bb tap? i wanna buy 1 really, as i know itll be handy in the future (Y) cheers, paul
