terror error: all you need is a light grind and decent setup, ive tried hearsh grinds and found them to be worse in terms of pad wear, performance and also its a quicker way to destroy you rim....light grinds seem to work better, maybe cos theres more pad surface area touching? anyway, to be honest by the way your plaz pads have worn, it sounds just like a poor setup-i may be wrong but alot of people really dont seem to be able to set up brakes right, they seem to think 'ahh its roughly inline thatll do', maguras espeacially need a eye on them to check on movement-dont forget if you adjust your wheel, its likely that 1 side will be closer to the brake calliper than the other (being a mod rider) not a dig, just from observation

koxx browns for sure, the best winter pad for a magura i found, good all year round, but id rather run plaz for the summer as they have the edge over browns methinks ill have to get some koxx browns fitted into my v backings :S
-
echo, tensile, megamo(if you can find some), zoo, bt i think, onza and ermmm yeah few others not worth mentioning probably all have screw on mounts echo=best for sqr taper tensile=best for isis
-
hope xc, ex729 drilled, db spokes-fookin ace wheel avid juicy 5/7-the best disc brake out there, pisses over everything except the biggest dh brakes
-
i got an old seat, stripped off the padding and then drilled out/reshaped the plastic base and it looked pretty sweet  but now i have a carbon/ti seat ;)
-
hmmm i have two d521s sitting in the shed......my arms getting twisted just cos im bored and wanna get questions like 'whers you seat' and 'why have you got 2 back wheels' (chav interpretation of rims) i can see this catching on too, is there anyway of getting away without the inner walls? or if we were to do it i spose we could drill the feck out of them ;) like the disc onza hog rim how about rivots over nuts and bolts? marginally lighter  and a more pernament fixing :- ooo advice to chappies thinkin about doing this: try it on sum old shitty rims first, please dont wreck nice new ones :(
-
definately, im gonna copy a 221 ti frame in steel, not long now til my welder comes.....i hope :- i think thatd be the ultimate mod frame  espeacilally for me as i wanna run v brakes and itll be fixable if anything cracks without that heat treating crap(Y) altho the monty x alp (steel thing, high with a seat) has got to be the sweetest frame ive ridden in ages, no joke! feckin love it anywho thats not what this post is about, personally i wouldnt go for the secondhand monty, purely because of these cracking issues+its likely you dont know how much abuse it has received, id buy 1 new and since you have 'sources' you can prob get a new un cheap ;)

you are supposed to be 18 to use ebay............but to f**k if you will ever get caught :) just use mummy and daddys account if you under 18-soooorted  well thats if they are kind to let you ;) i know of people under 18 who have gotten away with it, as young as 14.....dunno how but they have anyway, if you need help finding a supplier, gimme a pm and ill contact mine who can pass some numbers onto you :- tis worth a shot, trouble is with that-you need money to make money........so again ebay is your friend-sell sum shizzle, buy some stock then sell that for profit! ive noticed that on ebay they are selling the little alu end caps for cables for a fiver or something for 25, when you can get a pack of 100 for a quid at trade price-easy money isnt it! and people buy them cos they only want a few and dont want the hassle of getting a big pack there are people with lots of money out there, find them and offer your services in whatever form you desire, but dont abuse it, as they will then come back :(
-
just so happens i do  and i love it to bits but my mates have had troubles with theirs, even with normal monty hubs, tis a shit ;) but to be fair they were the pre 04 models id still buy another one anyway, they piss over other frames in terms of rideability-i hate all this long bike shit, it doesnt feel right, but meh each to thier own
-
i used to do mx kinda, well more fmx i never could afford a proper bike, so i tuned a honda mt50 by myself :) i was only like 14, but i completely stripped the beatch, resprayed it, fitted new fork springs, marzzochi rear shocks(yeah twins  ) had the rear wheel rebuilt with fat arse spokes(my god its strong), got a big bore kit(65cc woooo), and stripped off anything useless, i then added a few welds to the footpegs as the bolts kept snapping when i jumped and i was away i loved that bike to bits, it was the only scrambler ive ever used but it still rocked! it was light, nippy and easy to throw about-i felt really confident on it i only rode properly for 2 months but within that time i was doin 6ft high x 20ft gaps ;) which was feckin scary! and i had the usual tricks down, no handers, no footers, lil whips and tweaks, etc then i hurt my back attempting a superman :- so i gave up and the bike has sat in shed since, although its gonna get stripped again and rebuilt to take around the country lanes :) id definately like to try again but its so damn costly and the injury risk is far too high :(
-
f**k me that coyote frame is sexual  wonder who had that before you......ill post pics of it when i had it when i work out how to post them! i miss my old baby, she rode like a dream and was excellent for every time of riding, i hate you matt ;)

buy and sell shizzle on ebay ermmmmmm repair bikes for local people, find a local supplier so you get things at trade price and away you go, a box of 100 gear cables for instance costs about 16quid, so thats 16p per cable...then add your extras to it-easy money matey although you gotta sell a few/repair a few bikes :S its hard to help as we dont know whatya good at, tell us your strengths/weaknesses and someone may be able to suggest something <_<
-
ermmmm i like montys but the general thing is you get sweet geo and shit strength with them and yet no zoos have snapped yet? well as far as im aware of
-
185 rotor for sure <_< the most common size yeah i run hydro disc upfront and v brake(cable) at rear there isnt much difference in feel, both are as smooth and light to use as each other-i found maguras were far to sluggish, and with water they felt horrible too-with a decent lever blade, a magura would be an option for me, as they are.....no way the juicy lever is feckin ace though-it feels just.......right :S
-
that cable brake sound slike the activa, which wasnt too bad a brake! i had 1 for a few months but snapped the rotor so got a hope mini on replacement :o before brakes are strictly xc brakes, they heat up uber quickly and dont have much power get yaself an avid juicy 5 (or 7 if you can afford it)-they are immense and kick almost every other brakes arse, mines far better than any other brake ive used-and ive used/owned alot of discs :P i like them so much that im thinkin of running one on the rear of my trials bike :S although my v brakes bloody good too <_<
-
deores if you skint sd7s are the ebst middle range brakes avid ultimates if you feelin pimp and want THE best rim brake out there... advoid brakes like xtr, xt, archrival as they use shitty linkages that really dont help..... next thing: levers xtr or avid ultimate levers are the ONLY levers id ever use now, but if you skint deores are probably the best budget lever out cables: odyssey linear slicks are superb, but if you have money to burn then nokons for me have been pretty feckin awesome and finally: pads if you gonna run a v on the back its vital to run some good pads, i recomend plaz crvs, or spanish flies if you are on a budget-heatsinks are average but thye are the same price as crvs so just go plaz <_< on my mod i run: xtr lever blade in xt body, linear slick, ultimate callipers and crvs (red compound) and on my stock i run: avid ultimate lever and callipers, linear slick and crvs (yellow) both brakes are incredible but expensive-i found that my previous set up on avid 1.9 levers, deore callipers, linear slicks and spanish flies was damn good for the money and easily equalled a magura, wheras my current setups surpass maguras ive found o yeah and companies to get them from: chain reaction cycles for the callipers and levers, tarty bikes for the pads, and alans bmx for the cables have fun
-
edd thats pure cruelty, dont even insult the lad :P perhaps you could donate a set of middleburns (Y) as you are so charitable :-
-
got sum steel rigid forks, square taper bb, maybe a v brake setup too-if i can find it-tis all yours if you dont mind payin the postage (Y)
-
mine alright, skips sometimes, but is generally reliable, has nice engagement, altho doesnt feel uber quick and nasty like a king (even though it has the same ep?), id prefer a profile but meh i really cant be arsed to save for one as this works fine (Y) personally i think id be just as happy with an acs, dont see the need for all these millions of engagement points :- but thats just my type of riding....
-
f**k me.............. if that doenst make people give helmets a second thought, then what will...... good luck to the geeza, hope he gets well soon :)
-
im sellin a curtis and a megamo frame, well within your budget if you are interested :) add me to msn: mummysboy32@hotmail.com
-
get the 52 not the 72 the 52 is the deore equivalent and the 72 is the xt equivalent i belive anyway the xt version has a hollow axle-not so good for trials as they snap far easier in my experience the un52 is the best square taper bb you can get for the money and will last ages-i snapped most of my bbs when doing dirt jumping back in the day
-
righty lads get this boy riding again and kindly donate some old bits to him! thats well harsh to hear dude, hope something good comes out of it
-
the majority dont have the probems with their xcs it seems, and they are backed up with the stupidly good hope warranty-so bust it and they will replace the bust bits  the enduros were a bit crap if i remember rightly personally id stick with fsa pigs, they are tough as hell (yeah i broke a few bearings but remember they were uber old and had been used with a previosly bent fork) and they are cheap!
-
aha nice thinkin, this was a few years ago and i was pretty naive to the game ill keep it in mind though cos well the older im gettin the more expensive everything i own gets :P tis a pity i didnt know that back then, would have saved me a grand  o yeah shaun h, unlucky man, i know the feeling and it majorly sucks-but luckily i had loadsa good friends to help me get started again and i soon had a bike (rough as guts but at least i could ride) within a few weeks and it helped me get back on track :P im sure a few of the local riders to you will donate a few old bits ot get you going, all you really need is a half decent frame, some cheap rigid forks, a decent rear hub, front v, rear magura (im guessing you swing that way) and you off basically anything is better than nothing, and when you can afford to eventually upgrade you will realise how much better you have got after riding such a sketchy bike :D o yeah and if you have a wickle bit of money i have a few parts for sale (check my topic) and as im feeling generous ill knock a few quid off you to get you started again :)
