a bit of sense and know how, and its pretty simple im currently making a few frames-long term project atm as im really busy right now (Y) made boosters, brake adaptors, and things like that-all worked fine and didnt cost hundreds for production....(unless you include tools, of which ive spent loads on-but thats cos i need them for other things) customising/bodging is what most people are into on here-which is just as fun (Y) if you want some simple projects-try making your own lever blade, bash guard, booster, tensioner and if you have access to a lathe=perhaps little things like a top cap :) its always nice to make your bike individual-and having your own custom parts makes a nice talking point for when you meet new riders :P

stu that would rape your battery...............
-
tut plastic wouldn't work.... i'll never be happy mark, come on (Y)
-
i think coke cans would be too thick, i guess if you machined out the v brake bush, then had a shim made especially for it, that would work-alot of hassle when you can get ultimates for only 60quid now (or like 35 secondhand) with lovely cartridge bearings (Y)
-
he he, i dont mind mark, each to their own i guess-i just personally cant see why on earth everyone likes what i can only see as an inferior brake to v brakes (by that i dont mean they are the worst brakes ever-but vs have the edge over them)-but im sure the majority are opposed (Y) im not overly fussed what people run-if it works for them, then great :)

yay! ill be buying some refills soon then (Y) the heatsink backings are superb, they are proper stiff, and i love the fact i can run any maggy pad in them-gives me a good choice of pads :) i had whites for a short time when i ran a maggy, and they were impressive, so with a decent brake.....they should be incredible  anyway, with the v brake, there isnt much you can do about wobbling-the washer thing doesnt really help(well hasnt with my previous brakes) weirdly, i accidentally got oil on my front rim, and the power didnt appear unaffected-yet the brake was basically silent :D not that you should go spraying oil on you rim on purpose :P
-
maguras? why (Y) you disgust me.... :)
-
my old base ta26.....it rode beautifully hopefully my new one will ride even better cos its got better parts :P also guy griffiths koxx leveboss mod-it was perfection in terms of a mod-soooo responsive :)
-
it matters when you are doing gaps to front wheel, and decent size sidehops..... no grip on front tyre= a pain the ass :P
-
thats a major reason behind the squealing, i suggest getting an avid ultimate :P but thats rather costly just put up with it :P
-
lol i hated my heatsink red pads :P gonna have sum heatsink whites soon, but you cant get them anymore the red plaz crvs(rare as fook apparently) are very good but appear to have the same noise as the yellow ones... spanish flies are also noisy lol the high level of noise could be down to your brake, has it got loose or rattly bushings?
-
are you running the hub dry inside? just pull the hub open and check it all, sounds like your pawls have seized somehow?
-
hmmm snow on friday isnt there? may have to to get my tractor out :P i was more amazed by how shite that song was.....'im sending you an sms' wtf how gay
-
i run full outers now, when i had my base i ran with the stops and it felt crap in comparison, but that was with those crappy avid flakjacket cables, with linear slicks im sure it would be tonnes better. with my new base im gonna run full cable and perhaps some middleburn cable oilers cos im lazy and cant be bothered to pull it all apart to relube the cable once in a while :P

lankyricky: by saying that, does that mean spending anymore than 200quid on a frame is pointless when there are a few good frames for under 200? the more you spend, *generally* the longer lasting something will be....rb levers are great except for the seals-if i had to run magura i would buy an rb lever simply cos thats the only way a magura can feel reasonably good... actually you are probaby right, itll snap anyway..... :P

short stem high bars short stays light front helps higher bb also helps-usually down to longer forks -
get the dh then :P 203 would look sooooooo cool :)
-
heatsink v adaptors :P and you will more than likely be fine with a v-brake on a slim rim then :P
-
d521/ex721 rims for the best strength and grind ability-you cant beat them! trouble is im guessing you require a wide rim, of which the only rim i would recomend is the onza ronnie from experience-perhaps the new echo rim-but thats only an idea... pad wise, koxx browns are mighty good (the best in the wet) but for the dry plaz crms are the way forward of course if you want a decent rear brake, a v-brake is the way forward  none of that magura crap :ermm:
-
i doubt it, my local halfords only do their own brand and panaracer as far as i know of you will have to try some decent local bikeshops or force her to use the net

try the super tacky minion-its ace

ebc red pads are supposed to be rather good <_< as for tyres, i really like my fireblaster xc, its really light and doesnt fold too much at 20psi nokian nbxs are really good too and are slightly less flexy with only marginal weight difference :)
-
stock will always be cool, and i think i will always ride it if i can 24 is going to grow, but im not sure if the other genres of trials will really suffer alot-i think it'll just open up trials more and tempt more in............i can see alot of dirtjumpers progressing towards the street trials direction that 24 has made more popular

firstly ill make it clear, i will only use this on private land, i have a farm so i have plenty of space and lots of trails <_< i still have my lil scrambler and was half tempted to fix it, but i figured a change would be cool the idea was to buy it mainy for when people come over, its always fun when we can get field cars, mopeds, go karts or whatever out and rag them around in the summer, and i kinda figured a mini moto(scrambler cos a road one would be useless where i live) would be a nice addition (im not a spoilt tosser-ive bought all this stuff myself) anyway in way are they shit? mechanically are they robust enough? can you upgrade certain models? cheers, paul
