Your prob hear different things from different jobs...... Government Website will show the legal standing. My understanding of it is you are allowed 15 mins every 4 hours..... I know the rules have changed recently Darren

Hi mate; Felt compelled to answer this.... As a past Store Manager, I think the manager you spoke to is on a power trip..... There are always occassions where staff members may be late ( Mother's, Students, etc ). It is up to the manager to exercise discretion. You have informed him you will be late and the circumstances. He would have been within his rights to a) Ask you to work the 10 mins at the end of your shift - ie Finish @ 8.10 rather than 8 Reduce your break by 10 mins. The action your manager took will work against him if you take it higher. Look in your HR manual or speak to your HR manager about lateness. Most training packs and contracts have a clause for lateness, and the reporting of. Provided you have followed these rules, then you are doing no wrong. Most managers on a power trip hate answering back. Present your argument back in a rational manner, referring to the HR manualif applicable. Hope this helps.... Darren

Been riding for about 10 years before the accident. Have been trials riding for about 3 months now. It's surprised me how quickly I've been able to pick it all up again. Apparently, I have a very odd way of tapping up walls. I don't hit the front wheel, more place it Darren

Now it's fine, although I have no ligaments to control twist movements in the knee, so I have to be very careful in 360 dismounts, etc. In the beginning, I completely forgot how to walk, which was the most surreal expereince in my life. I suffer from ache's in the cold weather before warming up, but other than that, no real complaints Darren

Evening All.... I've just completed my first video for you all to see. Footage was shot over 2 days in Tenterden and Margate ( Kent ) by my other half Sue. It is my first time making a video, so it's no where near perfect. I've been riding for about 3 months now after a year and a bit off due to a dislocated knee. There was a point after I did it that I thought I may never ride trials again.... I know I will never be brilliant and I have put on a bit of weight since the accident. What I am doing now is having more fun on my bike than ever, and that is hopefully what this video will show.... Please enjoy, and as I said previously, this is my first video. Thank to Dave, Spode, Rob, Andy for getting me back on a bike. See you on a ride soon Darren http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ils&id=1633

Not yet a full recovery - May still need an op. I dislocated my knee and shunted my tibia up in front if my fibia. Severed every ligament and tendon in the knee. Si Physio said it wasone of the worst he's seen. Still you can never keep an old dog down!! Darren

Evening All........ About a year and a half back I had myself a little accident...... Photo's Attached....... Got myself back on an XC Bike - Been riding that constantly since, and I took the step to get back on a trials bike a few months back with the help of thinkbikes. Best thing I ever did. Never going to be as good as I was, but I'm having more fun on my bike than ever before!! Attached is a snippet of my riding . . . More to follow in a video I'm making combining XC with trials....... Be great to hear your feedback Many Thanks Darren Video - http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ils&id=1625

Without a shadow of a doubt, that is the best riding video I have ever seen. Flowing, Inventive, Multi Disciplined, it had it all. It is an inspirational video, and more than that, no other video has made me want to get on a bike more and go out riding and start inventing moves. BMX aside, it showed the skills of him as a rider. I'm not going to get into the bmx / mountain bike debate, but I was blown away by it Darren

Ashford's 20 mins from me too. We're riding there Thurs night again if you'd like to come out again for an evening sesh? Darren
-
Does that mean your coming out in Ashford? I wouldn't call the accident minor... ). Couldn't walk for a few days and have had a year rebuilding the strength in my knee to ride. I know I will never be as good as I was, but I've never been as happy to ride trials as I am now!!
