Made me laugh Still a good gesture though i think. -
Yer i'd still go with BMX if i were you. I know my opinions slightly biased but i have alot of friends who ride street mountainbike so know a fair bit about that scene- it just hinders their riding on street (well, if you wanna ride BMXey style street which it sounds like you do). Dirt i find it easier to huck a jump and get over it on a mountainbike but thats cos you can be sketch and get away with it- hence making most of them look like sketchy, unstylish idiots Fairs, has it got lugs though? I know someone whos got one and would say its the nicest of the fit completes if you can get a brake on it (or are set you don't wanna ride one)
-
Depends really. If you build a nice bike from all individual parts all brand new stuff your looking at £700+ but you'll probably be saving money in the future. I'd say either get the fit or try and find second hand full bikes for cheap, might strike lucky.
-
Pfffttt don't listen to this smelly fashion rat I'd reccomend start with a brake just untill you get used to a BMX an get decent bike control etc thheennn the choice is yours to take it off or not Theres nothing worse then seeing a rider who's just started careering around with no brakes crashing into everything and generally annoying everyone else and hindering his riding. Those fits are niccee completes though But i would reccomend looking around for second hand stuff if your into that? I got a bike worth £1000+ for £250 a while ago. Or if you don't need it soon could build a pretty dialled bike if you went with some second hand parts.

Haha those are quality I wouldn't even have to be everyone though. When everyone piles into the big hall for final assembly or summat if you got 2/3rds of the people going in to do it all the teachers would be confused plus a load of confused left out students would add to the confusion even more. We found this place where there was loads of abandoned mannequins and stuff so wanted to use them to mke them sit on the roof in school clothes holding signs and shit but never got round to it And Simpson, you're definately getting old But at the same time if you haven't got the imagination to think of your own pranks then don't bother haha

Pfft use your imagination. We've had or done: Crickets/locusts released as pretty standard really. Fish behind radiators which i do not reccomend unless you want to be hated haha. Various things fertilised/burnt into the cricket square. Whole blocks sectioned off by 'Danger: Asbestos' tape and various other signs, cones etc. Keys to teachers cars stolen and then moved. All sixth formers coming early and parking in all the teachers spaces. Room change signs on loads of classes that just lead a wild goose chase. Constant fire alarms. Teachers lockedi n cupboards. There's definately more. I'll keep thinking. EDIT: Stuff that really smells in padlocked lockers but again similair to the fishes behind radiators. Extra padlocks put through loads of lockers about the school with keys in the locks (or attached to them by elastic bands) but all mixed up in the wrong locks. Janitor had to go round cutting them all off (that wasn't thougt of at the time of planning lol)

Well i have no idea on the genres when we go into heavy kinda music but to me, if someone screams down the microphone into my ear it just doesn't sound good at all and ruins otherwise not too terrible (but wouldn't really listen to it) instrument playing. So i can pretty safely say that i do not like anything from those screamy screamy genres. I'm pretty sure others can say the same. And saying you'll like a band just cos a band you like has been influenced by them doesn't really roll with me to be honest. Sure they might have been influenced by other bands but in my eyes they've improved on the banmd they've taken influence from. Taken the good aspects and replaced the bad aspect with something good. Metaphorically say, if a band was influenced by a heavy metal screamy screamy band to use similair guitar riffs but the singing etc is completely different. Then maybe there's a possibility i would like them. But i sitll wouldn't like the original band.

This is siicckk! Listened to it on 3 times repeat while i was drawing yeserday haha! Reaallly good. I love the intro but if i listen carefully i see what Tomm means about that stop. Didn't bother me untill i was looking for it though to be honest. Best yet i reckon I still stand by the fact that you'd be VERY lucky if fake ID gets you anywhere but dodgy newsagents.

Yer i definately see what you mean, and i respect those artists ALOT from bridging genres. But at the same time if you really LOVE a particular type of music then it kinda becomes a part of a persons identity if you ask me. So these little scene kids just jumping on the bandwagon are almost stealing someones identity. Fair play to them if they seriously like Hip Hop and want to get into it, but alot of them don't and just seem to listen to 1 song from another genre just so they can say they had a 'wide music taste'. I just think if your going to jump into a culture (because thats definately what each music genre is) then you should take the time to know your way around it a little bit. *I'm not going to say i have the widest music taste either, but it's wide enough. I listen to NO heavy metal and punk stuff really just cos i don't enjoy it but listen to pretty much everything else. Mainly UK and underground hip hop but i care alot for indie and also love reggae, drum and bass (and all the subgenres of that), classical (although more the upbeat Penguin Cafe Orchestra typa stuff) and then all the relaxed stuff like Four Tet etc and also more rocky stuff like Kings of Leon. I don't think peoples music tastes should be artificially wide. People shouldn't be narrow minded and should give other stuff a try but if you don't like it then fair enough don't pretend too. That way people will definately find their music tastes broadening but not just to fit in to the crowd.
-
To be honest what annoys me even more then people being super narrow minded with music tastes is when people branch out but in a half arsed way to be cool. When they like, pretend they're not narrow minded but they are. At the minute round here say it seems to be a trend for the little emos to say they like hip hop and that their music tasts is really broad and shit. Basically they listen to all their screamy crap and then they download 1 Cypress Hill song, buy a Lethal B album and then act like they're all dons of Hip Hop. It's like people leech of other cultures they have no part in (through their own choice) just to look cool. that f**ks me off.

Tuuunneeeee! I'm listening to 'jehst- licquor soaked sentiments' but that just as i typed this changed to 'jehst- alcoholic author'

Haha i always thought it meant 'Sam the man' aswell I pronounced it like that, not that i regularly pronounce your name but you kinda say it in your head when you read the post

Just make sure to make it clear how many items I could easily come on and sell one little bolt to get a 100% feedback score and then rip people off on a frame or two otherwise. Is there anyway to do like: 'Feedback: +4 -1' or whatever (positive and negative) but then have that writing in red if the negative is the same ammount as 50% of the positive or whatever and green if it's not? Or just red if negative is over 2 or something.

Yer seen them with Maximo once and at Reading aswell. Reeeaaalllyyyy good to dance about to and just really feel good live music. I agree with the Macabees comment but listed them cos they are similair to the stuff he's saying he likes so may aswell try them. Personally theres about 5 indie/pop rock bands i LOVE and then the rest are just much of a muchness. Generic crap. Kinda lame how samey the indie scene is at the minute

Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread
Max Quinn replied to Has anyone seen my shoe?'s topic in Chit Chat
Either forget it or talk to him about it. Standard really. -
That list is pretty comprehensive for a list of good indie bands if you ask me 'The Good Shoes' are sick though, Jamie T, Kings of Leon, The Maccabees, The Notwist.

The Rainydayz radiohead remix album (by amplive) for free download on their myspace is really good Hadiohead + good hip hop lyrics + general mixing

Hahahaha point noted. Where you ever there when that 'extreme' running group in tight black sas style iniforms or something kept running around southbank jumping stuff and getting in the way? So all the locals were just standing in there way and tripping them up and stuff? To be honest though i've very rarely encountered any beef with any one doing extreme sports other then a few skaters at southbank who are on a bit of an ego trip. I get on with all the local skaters round here and the booters (although i do think they're a bit wierd) and the mountain bikers especially (although point noted a few downhillers seem to be posh daddies rich boy and think they're better then you). I honestly think i've never had any beef just because when i arrive at a new park or whatever one of the first things i do is approach locals and say hi, and also say hi when they come to my local parks, whatever they are. Once you've done that it's pretty hard for anyone to be a dick to you whereas before you do that or if you don't speak to them theres kinda a tension that hangs in the air sometimes.

Haha as a BMXer i honestly think thats semi accurate Obviously i wouldn't describe myself like that and the generalisations are pretty extreme but its that kind of slant i reckon. It's not saying everyone in each class is like that but i definately reckon from forums and stuff that trials riders do drugs and shit less, seem better educated, older/more mature etc
-
As a BMXer who used to ride trials i agree with everything Bongo has said to be honest. Sure i respect trials but that's because i know it, but if we look at say Phil Feeneys bike posted recently that looks SICK and has some real style and just has a pretty cool image. Whereas riding a little mod with no seat and about 20 'bling' colours all over it, it looks wierd and different and all that, but pretty stupid at the same time. And then theres things like helmets etc, now i'm not saying i lose any respect for a rider wearing a helmet, sometimes i almsot gain respect from them even, but it's still an example of the non-cool image trials has and some people do think you look like a gimp wearing one and take that into account. Trials is also alot more static and with most trials riders looks alot less ballsy so people kinda lose respect. But most of all it's probably the fact that you've encountered some twats. None of the BMXers/Dirt Jumpers/Down Hillers/Skateboarders i ride with and am mates with would ever really look down on someone like that. I got a similair thing one time from a roadie when i was on my bmx. He steamed past me up a hilll and laughing at me and said something cocky haha, with a smile on his face though to be fair. Needless to say we reached the top of the hill, i hopped a few obstacles, dodged a few close cars, went dodgily though some traffic lights and left him in the dust EDIT: Just seen Peperamis point aswell and thought 'why didn't i say that' haha. I've seen Mountainbikers come to a skatepark full of BMXers and just ride at the other end and not talk to anyone like their special. Not because there dicks just because they feel different in some way due to the different bike. You need to just forget about it and get chatting. Also going to a skatepark etc where your bike doesn't stricly belong () you really need to be careful and make sure you know what you're doing and your using the park well.

Waaass piiising it down today in Watford but nothing show stopping or anything. Although i'm pretty sure a fair few trees fell over and my mummy didn't want me to ride to school cos of the wind :$ Watching umbrellas flying around the school quad was reealllyy funny though. Massive carharrt parker > umbrella. I wan't some thunder and lightning

Paaarrrttyyyyy! Its good we'll sleep there if not all the lads back to mine. I swear this thread is just a 'show off i have a social life' or a 'make other people feel like slackers cos i'm doing so much work' thread haha.

Yer that's usually good but to be honest i think it wouldn't really work for me on this forum. Because theres so many posts all the time, half of which i don't care to read.
