  1. Murs- A Friends Blues I've always loved the lyrics and everything about this song. For the last year or so it's been one of my favourite songs. Then about a month ago a friend died, i heard the news at a dance show/party one night but everyone promised we would just have a good night for him cos he wouldn't want anyone to be sad. I held it off through that but at the end of the night walking home once everyone had left just broke out in tears and had to sit down on the pavement. I put this song on while crying my eyes out walking home and just realised how much truth Murs speaks, just in a few lines he sums up exactly what i was feeling. Now it's kinda the song i put on and dedicate that time to thinking about Cyril, just reminds me of him. It's ironic how it's the one song that makes me think of him even though he probably never even got the chance to hear it "Now when you're young, death can make you aware of your mortality At times we feel invincible, lose sight of reality Until it takes a loved one, residing in our circle It'll hurt you cause you miss 'em Once were close, down you're distant And it hurts just to know that they could go at any instant Gotta love 'em by the minute, now you realize this It's sad it takes a loss to appreciate the gifts So celebrate the occasion, just breathing is amazin' To see the sun rise and set, at a days end A chance to fix mistakes that we regret makin' Find joy in the simple things, no time for complainin' The sun will shine, it can't always be rainin' I know it hurts deep, but you must maintain it I seen it in my homeboys Terry and Tom They've lost so many, yet they keep so strong To lose a parent or a sibling and have the will to keep living Takes so much strength, so I admire y'all And one day hope to find out, what inspires y'all And I'm still mad, askin' why it happens at all Some say that God takes them, and they lean on mythology But I choose to believe that its divine lottery I can't believe God's lookin' down, waitin' to slaughter me I can't live in fear, and I can't live here Forever, so I treasure every moment" Example's songs also make me think about him but in a more happy way cos Examples the only artist i can remember talking to him about in the short time i knew him. Gesus- Waster's What they Named You (Waster RIP) This is about a graffiti artist Waster12. He died while writing graffiti in america. Gesus, another graffiti artist and a close friend of his is also a hip hop producer so created this in collaboration with Astronautis (who is on the lyrics) in memory of Waster. I have no personal sentimental meaning for this song but it just hits me so hard everytime i listen to it and really makes me think about life. Gesus just got his feelings down on a track sooo well and it's really powerful. They were both also part of BombingScience which is a graffiti forum i only lurk on but i remember the thread in memory of Waster with all his (amazing) pieces. The thread was a few hundred pages long and was incredible, Gesus posted this in there once he had finished it. Suprisingly enough, i also have loadsa happy memory songs Maximo Park are one of the artists i would put down as bringing up amazing memories from summer last year. Reading, seeing them live another time and just kotching in the park on hot summer days. Awesome.
  2. I don't think i've ever seen a team go behind in penalty shoot outs and then come back and win haha. Was an amazing shoot out and an amazing match, so much tension. It was awesome to see Petr Cech stand dead still like a rock through Ronaldos pussy run up though, he does it every time he takes a penalty If the keeper doesn't fall for it he's a foot away from the ball and has no chance of getting enough power. I thought Van der Sar was a bit dissapointing though. There was 2 Chelsea penalties that were pretty poor penalties and he wen't the right way for them but didnt get to them enough, didn't seem to be really launching over the goal. I thought he was waiting for too long trying to judge it rather then just gambling and diving for his life like you should. I'm glad Man-U won though I hate Chealsea.
  3. Bumped into Grant on Tuesday night so went for a late night street and park session Snapped a few photos, not very pleased with them photo wise but oh well, i'm pretty sure this is the first time i've ever posted trials shots here haha I'm sure some of you will remember him, he's a senior on here (Grant Peters) but doens't really come on any more, has just got back into riding.
  4. We'll have to wait for Tom and Danny but actually i'm not sure it would be. Things like that go on traffic to tell you figures like that, cos traffic shows you how much you can charge for advertising. But in reality small trials companies don't really have the funds to pay for big advertising so it's not realistic. I'm not sure though, maybe if Tom and Danny wen''t really full bore on the adverts it could be, correct me if i'm coompletely wrong haha.

    Alcohol Units

Hhm maybe that was exxagerated then but i definately have seen some reallly low limits like that. Yer definately, but that's the point i will tone it down as i grow. But if they want to help stop teenage binge drinking then they should actually act like they're targeting it at teenage binge drinking and work on limiting it and respect themselves things like what your saying about how it will be toned down once you get a full time job etc.

    Alcohol Units

I really can't be arsed to do that but i'm guessing i would be about to die from liver failure within 2 years or something stupid. I'm 17, go out twice a week and drink over 8 pints of whatever shitty lager usually on at least one of those nights. But everyone around me is doing that aswell, in my age group i consider that pretty standard and i'm not really worried. I also know if i really had what i believed to be a good reason to stop i could do it at the drop of a hat- but life just wouldnt be as fun. In general all the alkohol awareness stuff is marketed soooo badly at our age group. For the english language exam i did the other week our desk study was about 15 pages of alkohol awareness articles and it was sooo poor. Really patronising and barely anyone my age is going to take stuff like that in. It also seems like the limits they set are rediculous. Stuff like maximum 6 units a week for fully grown men Im sure plenty of people have been doing much more then that that all of their lives and not had a problem. I bet the majority of people here who go out to bars an clubs etc would do that in one a night easily. And people like my dad having 4 pints a week (one with dinner for example) are over it and thats not even considering if he goes down the pub to watch the footie It just seems like the people that market these are either social retards, straight edge cool cats (no offence Jon ), or just reaaallly out of touch with the younger generation. If they set realistic targets for the maximum then maybe kids would think, 'hey i can drink a few less pints a week and meet that target' rather then 'f**k off thats never gonna happen'. EDIT: Oh and about the whole straight edge thing. Although i'm not into it myself, movements like that are the only thing thats gonna minimise binge drinking among teenagers if you ask me. It's 'marketed' by bands that people are actually into and marketed as a cool alternative lifestyle rather then just a safety measure. It also seems to be about the individuals educated choice rather then 'Do what politician X says to do'. Stuff like that is much more successful then anything dreamed up by some 55 year old politician who hasn't been near any poom in as many years.
  7. You don't care about fashion even one bit? Thats bull. I bet i could put some super 'practical' shoes in front of you and you would lauigh at how shit they look.
  8. Do you not go outside at lunch I cant stand being couped up and then not going out for a good kickabout.
  9. I think the mods and admins do an amazing job to be honest And things like thread titles being changed and things being edited, it's a laugh If anything that shows they're less power trippy as they can mess about too. Just don't take the internet too seriously. However, personally i think a fair few mugs have joined in the (relatively short i guess) time i've been here.
  10. Anyone seen the street artist doing massive wheres wally pieces for google earth? Google it, is funny.
  11. We do it loads if we drive out to lagoons. A day of barbecuing and footie an stuff at the top of a quite lagoon just jumping in whenever you want = amazing. But like said you just gotta not be stupid about it I feel sorry for him but it sounds like he was just trying to show off and being a mug.
  12. In 3 pages this thread has been through so many different topics from the original post. Now it's a 'Post your trainers' thread. I have 1 pair of Orchid x fits in gold and black for riding and then about 6 pairs of stan smith's and superstar's in various colourways and editions. Can't get enough of adidas trainers to be honest.
  13. You analyse shit way too much. Just sit it out an i bet she won't be.
  14. It's a scene for sure, but one that i want to be involved in. I'm not 'mocking topman', just expressing my dislike for that scene. In my eyes, it's a scene that just jumps on the good bits of other scenes and leeches off it. I'm not saying i'm different and not part of a 'commercially driven idea', i'd just rather support commercially drivin companies that i feel like i have something to do with and that (i hope) are putting money back into the things i love. I also like to support clothing companies who support the artists i like, not only to give back to them but also because i think their work looks better then what you see on tee shirts in top man. I haven't yet seen a tee shirt in topman (and i am in there a fair bit cos mates shop in there alot) that strikes me as original and nice and as something i couldn't knock up in photoshop myself. But that's the point, the people i see decked out in Topshop (or similair brand that's just the one i've chosen to pick on) do look largely the same. I couldn't tell anything about their personality (i was gonna say 'apart from the fact that they are sheeps' here but don't wanna rile you too much ) from looking at them and i like to try and get mine across. For me high street shopping (and watford has a fairly decent shopping centre) in places like topman is just sooo unispiring and an awful experience. I walk from one shop to the other and all the stuff is similair. The atmosphere is awful. It's really hectic and it's not a place i want to be, which is reflected in my clothing choice i guess. Walking around the back streets of Covent Garden (for example) going into some of the shops i mentioned is a really nice experience. The shops are decorated well, often with artists they support, the staff are friendly and i can relate to them., the atmosphere is very ambient. That is reflected yet again in my clothes choices. Tannnnngent. But I was hardly gonna not explain myself.
  15. Yer he said it better then me Mike. Just generally a bit overpowering.
  16. Personally i'm into the more Hip Hop side of skate companies. I think Topman and stuff are just bullshit companies playing off the latest 'scene' trend. I distinctly remember my local store having a tslogan ee shirt mocking 'new rave' and then literally 4 months later having slogan tee shirts supporting it Everything i've had from most high street stores like Topman i've also found to not feel as good on me and f**k up quicker. I'd rather support companies i actually LIKE which generally involves skate/hip hop/street art based stuff i guess you could pool into 'urban'. Companies like Fenchurch, Zoo York, Dephect, Carharrt, Addict, Concrete Hermit, LRG, Circa, King Apparel etc. Urban Industry is pretty good for stuff like that.
  17. Barbecue and garden party at a mates woop! Although...it kinda just rained, april shower style. Is boiling now but more dark clouds coming Ahh well, will just turn into a house party if nothing else.
  18. Well enjoyed that Mike. Wasn't sure at first but it's been on repeat for a while and io'm warmed to it alot. Real good to kinda relax to and forget about. I like her singing too Snare at one point seems a bit overpowering though.
  19. Onzaboymark doesn't? haha i knooww, Tom and Danny won't let you change it EDIT: And seriously, that clothing is how to quickly destroy a sport/hobby.
  20. I'm sorry, people like me are what put you on your hands and knees scrubbing so hard at walls. I do give you a job though to be fair I do alot of freelance researc/website design/photography bits and bobs and sell the occasional photo print. Awesome pay and a complete doss but really irregular. I've pulled in £500 for barely any work on my best month but then i'll have spells of no money for 4 months haha.
  21. That is sick. For a website focused around suc ha small discipline that is actually seriously mental! Makes the UK so much smaller trials wise and brings everyone together soo well Nice one Tom an Daaaannnnyyy.
  22. Allow that, i honestly don't understand how having a girl can put you off GCSEs. Help you through if anything, structured revision and 'playtime' breaks all the way. Just get with her man, like said she will have the sane shit going on an will understand. EDIT: ben, i did.
  23. The people who used to live in the house i'm in came to the door the other day saying they were 'passing' and there son needed a piss (blatant excuse to nosey into our lives). But aannyway, after a bit of polite chat the mum said to me 'are the child ghosts still in the hall?'. I was like, 'what? ' and politely implied she was a crackhead. She said they used to hear children laughing and running up and down the hall. Must have taken them away with them Or there son was sneaking out at night, now i have an excuse for sneaking in in the early hours of the morning. Raaammbbllle. Anyways. For all the people mocking ghosts, i have no idea what i believe but it sure seems alot more believable then heaven an hell to me.
