Definitely not. Missing 5 years of your life (where stuff actually happens that you've missed) seems much worse than losing 5 years off the end. Imagine just waking up next to some girl with a ring on her finger an you have no idea who she is or something. Some of your mates/relatives are dead and you didn't get to say bi or enjoy the last few years. Yer I kinda missed that haha. Epic thread by the way. See that's just where we differ I guess and is purely a matter of preference. Sure I like to do fun stuff that costs money, but some of the best times I've had have been hitchhiking and sleeping rough. Money makes you more of a tourist in most of the world and prevents you getting into the culture and really exploring in a poor country, purely because people treat you differently. That's hardly the same though. If your chances of dying are 1/60000 per day for example (I'm just plucking numbers out the air to illustrate a point here), then over 5 years the chances of dying will be 1800/60000 or whatever. Granted I can understand people being able to take that risk, but it's not the same. Your actively making a choice that could make you die on the spot. A large amount of old people aren't like that though. As long as I've got my mind and have lived a good life I'll be a happy man. Personally I think the whole 'I've told my family and friends to kill me if I'm crippled' is a bit of a headstrong, immature attitude that you'd probably reevaluate if you were ever actually crippled. Especially for the people around you.

Yer definitely, I was thinking that on the travelling front, having a lot of money potentially takes away some of the fun of it as well. Sure you can do a lot more, but that extra level of security would slightly ruin the fun for me.
-
Would take a lot of balls to accept knowing you could die on the spot though. I think that's more of a consideration then having 5 years knocked off a 90 year life or whatever. But then if you accept, you can live life taking risk after risk knowing that there's no chance of you dying within the next five years, that would be pretty fun, especially with six zeros in your bank account. I think I'd take it. Spend a good 500k on a semi central London flat (that's gonna go up in value anyway so it's hardly spending) where I can give a mate a room to rent for cheap so I don't get bored, go traveling for a while, come back, get my own business off the ground, invest in a few mates businesses, carry on as normal.

The way he bangs on about being a criminal, I think it's more likely he stole some sweeties..... from his grandmas jar or something.
-
No offence mate but when you've got the money/time to ride trials, go on the internet and waste time arguing about petty theft on forums instead of hustling on the mean streets or whatever, the 'I live such a hard life' card becomes a bit of a mute point.

Well, I'll be on the sofa with the time of my life watching it all fall apart around me.

Stuff charities then, go give your local homeless guy a decent wooly hat & a pair of gloves or something.

Ressurection cos this thread was interesting. Here's my latest thing, sampling, production, lyrics etc all by yours truly. https://soundcloud.com/quinceybeats/blended-thoughts Edit: Anyone know how to embed Soundcloud?

In related notes, is it bad that I sleep about 4 hours a night? I feel fine for it (better then if I sleep loads in some cases), do manual labour all day and still have energy to go out at night or do other freelance work at night etc. I'm generally still a pretty lively person who likes to bounce off the walls. But is it bad for me in any other way then the day to day effects someone might feel (which I don't).

If you try and reccomend an inferior product for the topic posters needs because you've waded into answering his question without having the proper knowledge to do so, I'm not trying to piss you off when I call you out, I'm trying to make sure the poster at the top isn't gonna waste his £150. Showing 'ur' colours mate. Anyway, sounds like you know what to do Mr. Ailsbury. I much prefer the MkIIs for the coiled cable, particularly useful when djing so you're not tripping over some massive cable stumbling around the booth.
-
I can understand the market for beats sure, if you wanna look super trendy an wear them round your neck 24/7 then that's your call. For DJing however, you will probably get laughed at by whoever's standing behind you waiting to play their set haha. I'm currently using Tinchy Strider headphones when I play out, cos I left my hd25s on a coach, I'm poor and they were free, but my do I get some funny looks. Not to mention the fact that DJing is nowhere near as pleasurable.
-
Seinheisser HD25 mkII. Please just trust me on that one, basically industry standard for d&b djs. Nice size, decent sound, decent cable, you can't go wrong. I guarantee a good 80% of serious Dj's will recommend you those. People reccomending headphones in here without DJing in mind I can understand, but you want a completely different thing when you're DJing as opposed to producing, general listening etc. As someone touched on earlier, too much bass is actually a bad thing for example as what you're lining up is the drum breaks.

I'm up for that mate, did a load of photography portfolios for people in my final year who were in exactly the same position as well. Get at me on Facebook if you like, rarely come on here nowadays. www.maxjquinn.com

Yer I see what you mean, I experienced similair things in South America, and even on the streets of London when you see tourists just obtrusively taking photos of the homeless with no regard to them. I guess, as you say, it just depends how you go about it. By the point that I ask to take their photo I'd like to think that they're comfortable enough and know me well enough to decline without feeling obligated because I've given them money. I've always got my camera in hand so a lot of the time they start asking about it before I ever even bring it up and it just happens naturally. I live pretty much bang in the middle of central london and walk around a lot at night so see them all regularly. What you were saying about if I didn't know them though, I'm not sure if I agree with. CCTV is a bit different to a real person with a camera, people who are temporarily homeless may not want that photo floating about on the internet for example, so you need to at least speak to them to be aware of that. Originally started talking to them mainly for writing purposes, this tune for example. I've always been interested in the homeless and how fragile city life can be.
-
Yer talking to strangers isn't a problem, I know most of the homeless people in my area anyway just from being out an about at lot at night and stopping to give them coins/malteasers etc. More the moral thing I was curious about, as literally while I was taking a photo of that guy in my initial post a lady stopped to puke her opinions on me about how I was taking advantage of his situation. I once had a photography teacher who was dead set against me taking photos of the homeless as well. Thing is, I regularly talk to these guys, help them out in any way I can and generally treat them as people. While this suited up lady in her expensive watch would have walked past him without blinking an eye if I hadn't been there, and didn't even acknowledge his presence as she talked about him to me. She can do one basically.
-
Voted mate. What are people's views on photographing the homeless?

Some bits from the weekend. Excuse Facebook and it's shitty image handling... |

You not getting any sort of credit for that Mark?

I sometimes put it on in the background if I'm eating/cooking and have listened to too much music already. Occasionally if I'm really shattered I'll just lie there and zone out to whatever's on, mainly thinking about other stuff, but other than that I'm with you.

Bump for third page and a long time out. Loving that one Rob! Intense lighting, would like to see more of the jumps though. Visual canon fodder from various missions through the smoke, all d200 and nifty fifty because it's the only lens I have and it also happens to be the greatest. More and some text to accompany them here..... There's a boy praying just next to the bike racks. These fisherman under London Bridge barely speak a word of English, but apparently catch Eel. A shoot for my mate who's a nail artist. Jammin.

Jeans are one of those buy cheap buy twice things if you ask me. Get some nice Carharrt denim or something (pick them up for about £30-40 in their sales rather than blowing £100 obviously), wash them as little as possible and they'll last you about the same length as 4 pairs of Topman pieces of crap while having a much nicer cut.

That's an epic send off song.

They're cool man! With regards to what you were saying about composition though, try and think about little details. In the first one for example, the section of rock bottom middle being slightly cut off annoys my eye. Pan down slightly and give it a tiny bit of room to breathe at the bottom. Gottwood Festival...... Review and more flicks here. Some other random bits....
