Sounds cool but I reckon life would get pretty boring to be honest.

You'll love it mate just chill and be yourself (well, if yourself is really shy then maybe throw yourself out there a bit more). I went into a house first year with 4 others I didn't know but i just turned up with a few draws and a create and we were best mates by that evening. If you're in halls I'd say just don't be afraid to knock on doors and introduce yourself to people, everyone's in the same boat and will be grateful that someone else did the door knocking for them, especially if you come armed with gifts of beer. As for actual freshers week though, I'd say don't hype it up too much. It's amazing and you'll get to know everyone, but the ammount of drinking/clubbing etc is like that all year at uni anyways, only later in the year you're much more comfortable around all your mates and know a lot more people.

Fair enough. An that was more jokey figure of speech then beef by the way. But you were rather proud of your new found 'game'

Kris, do you go out in these 8 year old trainers? Aren't you the one always banging on about game with the ladies or am I getting confused here? Eeewwww, f**k playing football in skate shoes. Edit: To be on topic, for long lasting shoes that feel amazing, just go for the classic superstars or stan smith, stylish too and I love riding in them, they just morph to your feet perfectly without all this extra unnecessary foam padding.

Watching people spazzing out when they have these dreams is absolutely hilarious.

Actually yer that's a good point, I bet those guys were the most unreliable drug dealers you've ever spotted on a street corner. -

Pffffttt and to think Dan Ko never even sorted me out over the forum. -
Better than being 'sucker' enough to actually go to the effort of posting statuses on both places all the time to be honest. If you're gonna do it, do it properly an all that.

Keep that shit to facebook if you ask me. But then again it doesn't bother me cos I literally never go on the homepage.

Yer IDressMyself is immense would highly reccomend them. Buuut if you're doing it more to start a little business then I'm guessing you wanna keep profit up. IDressMyself are all eco friendly and all this stuff which you're paying more for so unless you wanna make that part of your branding, maybe go for something like Merchspin which will be a lot cheaper. They're basic ones, up to 2 colours are $285 for 75 which is pretty immense, or if you go for American Apparel tees and 3 colours you could get 40 odd for £200ish plus shipping. I'm looking to get something rolling this year, probably with Merchspin, so let me know what you go for in the end and any experiences etc! You planning on relabeling the tees or just leaving stock labels in?

All very valid points, ok I take the whole 'legally entitled' thing back haha. I'd still do it though and I'm very suprised most others wouldn't.
-
So is turning down a load of money you're perfectly legally entitled too in my opinion. Morraly more correct perhaps, but still in this dog eat dog world we live in, definitely a bit stupid.

Catch you all a bit later

ONE WORD. SAVAGE!

T60s aren't great for scratching cos the motor in them isn't as powerful as Technics so they don't speed up to full speed as quickly when you let go of the record out of the scratch. Is still easily possible though, it just requires a change in technique. If you want to scratch, you need to make sure that the mixer you buy has an 'adjustable curve' on the crossfader. This means that rather than fade in slowly you can make the crossfader have the effect of just flicking each channel on and off, which is what you need for scratching. It doesn't look like that Numark mixer in the package for £290 can do this. Bare in mind you'll also want a decent set of speakers. These are really good, a massive bargain (usually about £240) and save you money cos you don't need to buy an amp, they're 'Active' speakers so have an inbuilt amp so they just plug straight into your mixer. If you ever get into production monitors are an essential as well really. What kind of music you thinking of mixing out of interest?

I listen to pretty much everything in this thread to be honest, if only for a little bit. Just a way or sharing music really innit, similair to your mate saying 'check this track out it's really good'
-
If you can't stretch to Technics I'd recommend Stanton T60s (or whatever the equivalent is now) for around £200. I got to a stage where I was playing out in clubs using them, and to be honest wouldn't have been bothered about upgrading if it wasn't for the fact that Technics are better for scratching (are you planning on scratching in the near future? Most DJs other than hip hop DJs don't) and all the clubs had Technics so it was easier to be used to the same system.

Haha yer sorry I was kinda lean when I watched that and subsequently recommended it cos I found it hilarious. Starts allright but then just gets worse and worse, and then the wierd computer game type things are just stupid. The bit where they're all doing their different skanks had me in stitches though

Me too. Sure I'm proud of myself for academic achievements, holding down jobs, the dj gigs I've landed, the art I've made and the places it's been etc. But none of that's exactly momentous, life changing stuff that I'll really look back on proudly in 10 years. Looking down my CV I feel it's fairly weighty for someone my age, but I'm not truuly proud of any of it. This coming year is the year to pull my socks up, smash uni, work hard and save enough money to travel South America all summer. This time next year when I've spent a few weeks volunteering in a hostel for street kids on the outskirts of Rio's favelas, then I'll be truly proud of myself.

Mate can you please stop with the annoying centering text business? I keep thinking you haven't actually written anything.

To be fair, this is a proudest achievement thread. What did you want him to do, lie?

They are But yeah I'm not saying go live in a student house, just the only semi relevant information I knew haha, maybe help give you a gauge of the general price.
-
Dunno how much student/non student properties differ. But for a double bedroom in a nicely sized student house in bournemouth you're looking at around £260-£330 (not including bills but they're obviously fairly cheap between a house of 5 or whatever). Other than that probably not very helpful piece of information, all I can say is move to Bournemouth Mike

The games have storylines? I haven't really played them much, but when I have I just bashed a load of buttons and hoped to be honest.
