I saw this post on another forum (through a link from another forum haha) and thought it deserved sharing. It's basically a guy who got put away for armed robbery, but is well educated etc, writing about and answering questions on his time inside. I know, best of the internet blah blah blah, but I'd be interested to actually hear some thoughts and opinions on this, and hopefully start the kind of discussion I haven't seen in a while (without having to read ignorant Christians and arrogant Atheists repeating themselves to each other anyways). Here's the link: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=136858\ Does anyone know anyone who been locked up? Do you keep in contact with them? How well do you think you'd handle the thought of going to prison? Solitary's an interesting one as well and some of the questions and his answers on that subject are a good read, how well can you imagine yourself coping with solitary? One of my best mates from way back when in primary school (but he was the year above me and we never really stayed tight after primary school) recently got in touch over facebook seeing if I wanted to go for a pint. I was chatting to him for a bit and he dropped that he'd done 2 years for drugs and firearms charges (wouldn't really go into detail) which didn't bother me at all, but did kind of interest me. I never ended up going for that pint, not because he'd been inside but just because he's got an ASBO on my area and going to where he lives was just long, for someone I hadn't been tight with in almost 10 years, and when I was we were 10 years old. But after reading some of this link I kind of feel like I shoulda, considering what he says about friends and family dissapearing, maybe my old mate just wanted someone to chat to who hadn't been involved with his immediate life before being locked up. But yeah, trust me that links definately worth a read, discuss!

So would you lot say we can be born with a fear (such as of snakes for example), or dyou reckon everything like that's through passive learning? I personally think a general fear of the unknown is instinctual and programmed into us (cue: instinctual racism argument), but I guess that kind of comes under the whole 'self preservation' one in the way that it would be erring on the side of caution.

Wouldn't have exactly been stage material anyways mate I wouldn't worry too much

Ah fair if they are actually decent then who cares what they look like, I just think decent monitors will make a much bigger difference then new software version where not a lot even changes. The ammount of immense producers I know that use old versions of logic, but I've never met one who writes on shit monitors.

What's the amazing Irish pub (think it's near Soho) that's looks tiny but is actually massive with a big fake tree going up the middle an a parrot flying about? Go there!
-
Good shout even if you don't go with the bus. Is £6 per person or something and can jump on from London Bridge to Greenwich for the museum vibes if that's your thing, or if not just general nice park and nice area.

Best meal I could ever ask for in London for under a fiver is the barbecue under the arch of the truman brewery on Brick Lane. £4.50 for whatever kinda burger/platter/kebab you like, plus massive, well nice, potatoes, salad, bread etc. And it tastes unbelievable! A nice walk is along Southbank eastbound, past the Design Museum (worth a look just for the gift shop at the front even if you're not into design), and snake through out of the tourist bits slightly to 'The Angel' pub (although a few roads on that walk can be a bit sketch so do it in the day) which brews all it's own beer and makes it's own wines, spirits soft drinks etc. As a result pints are around £2! Some generally really nice streets on that walk and is nice to eventually get into East London and out of the tourist trap slightly. If you want nice restaurant food, there's a really nice fish restaurant called 'Livebait' on a road called the cut (pretty nice road/area anyways) just south of Waterloo, is pretty expensive though so check the menus first. But yeah, I could name a load of clubs and stuff but if you don't like d&b, there's not much point. Not to mention a rave on your romantic weekend with the mrs probably wouldn't be the best shout. It's not, it all sorted itself out.

Fixed, just for you. But nah it wasn't a typo haha, I tend to forget people on here come from all over the country.

Yer but when you smoke a spliff you're heating it up, so surely my one makes more sense?
-
To be fair, that's not quite the same. I'm pretty sure that it has to be heated up to 'activate' the thc, which you do when you heat it up during making the hash butter for brownies. Then again I can't say I've tried it, that's just the impression I was under. If someone buys me a draw, I'll be a guinea pig?

Online Shops Compared To High Street Questions.

This. I've bought all of the various Ipods I've owned from John Lewis simply because when they inevitably f**k up (or just get a bit haggard ) I kniow I can just walk in and walk out with a new one without all the hassle of sending it to Apple etc. -
Just remembered one of my favourite lyrics: "The only guarantee in life is a life worth dying for." -Slug from Atmosphere on the tune 'Guarantees' My favourite words I've ever written myself is probably from a recent verse: 'One step forward for mankind, two back for humanity'. Is obviously out of context there but wouldn't make any sense without the whole 16 bars so that'll have to do haha. That's a good shout.

Right so I was updating my Facebook profile earlier, and the 'Favourite Quotes' thing got me thinking. I'd be interested to know other peoples favourite words. Doesn't really have to be a quote in the traditional sense, but could be a lyric, or just a sentence that flows really nicely. Maybe everyone else doesn't love words like these as much as me, but I find them pretty inspiring so f**k it, worth a shot. Here's some of mine: "To be a good selector, you have to be a good collector." - David Rodigan "The whole city is mine, pretty as dawn." - Nas- Purple "It's not about where you've been...it's about where you're at." Eric B & Rakim - I Know You Got Soul "I'm fascinated by rap and by hip-hop. I think there's a lot of poetry in it. There's a lot of anger, a lot of social energy in it. And I think you'd better listen to it pretty carefully, 'cause it's important." John F. Kerry "You’re not coming up with new ideas if you’re grabbing and mixing and matching. It may be increasingly accepted, but there are still plenty of creative people — authors and artists and scholars — who are doing original work. It’s kind of an insult that that ideal is gone, and now we’re left only to make collages of the work of previous generations." Sarah Wilensky, interviewed in the New York Times "at exactly what point do we realize, that life without knowledge is death in disguise" -Talib Kweli "Life's not a bitch, life is a beautiful woman. you only call her a bitch, cus she wouldnt let you get that pussy. Maybe she didnt feel like you'll shared any similar interests, or maybe you're just an asshole that couldn't sweet talk the princess" - Aesop Rock

I've had a ridiculous ammount of osteopath/chiropractor sessions for all sorts of problems in my back, all due to Trials and BMX. But also I guess djing doesn't help either when you're on a low setup, and my postures generally awful. My spine was out of line at one point apparently

Would You Stay With Someone If They Cheated On You?
Max Quinn replied to Papa Manual's topic in Chit Chat
I don't think logical reasoning through the issue really comes into play here to be honest, you either just hit him out of instinct or don't, spur of the moment. -

Nah that's bullshit I definitely don't think I would, I'd never do that to someone else so expect the same. Not to mention I think I might just get too jealous of every single boy she spoke to from then on and not be able to deal with it. But then again I've never actually been in a properly serious relationship so I have nooooo idea to be honest. -
So wait, they made an ipod touch, then they made a bigger one. And now they're slowly making the bigger one smaller again? Jeeesus apple.

This tune is beautiful. Unofficial video but that's pretty immense as well. Friction double dropped this with Fresh- Heavyweight and then after the second breakdown Spectrasoul- Organiser at Shogun Audio a few weeks ago and the place went absolutely nuts.

Watched an immense film called 'Stay' last night. Synopsis: A man struggling to save the life of another finds himself drawn into a strange netherworld he didn't know existed in this stylish thriller. Sam Foster (Ewan McGregor) is a psychiatrist living in New York City with his girlfriend, Lila Culpepper (Naomi_Watts), who was once one of his patients. However, it's another one of his patients who becomes the focus of his obsessions when Henry Letham (Ryan_Gosling), a disturbed young man whom Foster took over from a colleague, announces during a session that he intends to commit suicide in three days, on his 21st birthday. Sam takes the threat quite seriously and tries to track down Henry, who seems to have disappeared. Sam speaks to a number of Henry's friends and acquaintances -- his mother (Kate_Burton), the man he claimed was his father, Dr. Leon Patterson (Bob_Hoskins), a waitress who regularly served Henry at the coffee shop where she works (Elizabeth_Reaser), and his former therapist Dr. Beth Levy (Janeane_Garofalo). As Sam talks to people in Henry's circle, he finds he's learning more about himself than the man he's supposed to save, and he begins to drift into an emotional netherworld where the supposedly dead and the living cross paths. Stay was directed by Marc_Forster, who had previously enjoyed breakthrough hits with two very different films, Monster's_Ball and Finding_Neverland. Kind of on a similair vibe to the machinist. Really well shot and stylish as well as trippy and deep (one for the Ben Rowland's out there). Highly recommended.
