True it is a degree, but then saying it can't be paid back till you're earning £15,000 - i'd much rather earn more than 15k and pay it back, than be on under that. Future employers might also see it as a weakness, studying something then changing your career path?

Exactly what I was going to say. Got to - attend recruiting evenings - fill app in (if you manage to get one) - attend god knows how many interviews and tests, physical and mental. Edit: that is off the top of my head, I believe there is more.

I was talking mainly about the film industry. And yeah people who are only desperately want in usually have a chance I believe....like sam said, making tea for a couple years whilst on set. I was looking into how to become main cameraman on film sets. It's ridiculous like assistant to assistant making tea for a year, then asisstant making tea for two years then like 3rd assistant camera op, 2nd assis camera op, something else and camera op. then obviously onto other stuff and DOP. I read one guy who was a maybe 1st assis camera op and he was like 27-33 and said he was in debt of £15,000 or so from uni and courses, could only start out on jobs doing tea/coffee shit and earning like £3.50 an hour or something pathetic. Not to put you off, but like it's been mentioned, you HAVE to be dedicated.

My first time....well, her bed was a bunkbed thing, so desk on bottom bed on top....but the bed was like 2 foot off ceiling and a single, so used her parents king size. This was the time when we had finished GCSE's and had time off, but parents and younger siblings were at work/school. I think it's is best if you are under 21 to apply to PCSO's first. That's what I was told to do. Also heard Police wouldn't actually take you on if you were under 21, just cause you can't say you have had much life experience, that's why they prefer over 21's atleast.

I wanted to get into this career....but after looking into it, it is a very hard area to get into, your first few years can just be making cups of tea and coffee for people (this does help though ) then it's just moving your way up, but you have to be dedicated and work hard to prove yourself. And in the end....you need a big break really to get you on the scene? I didn't go ahead

These days, I think you gotta have stuff on your CV like first aid skills, people skills, teamwork skills all shown, if not, they possibly won't even consider your application. Also, in this current economic situation, I believe there are a fair few people considering jobs like this - Police/Fire Service etc.....so Loads of applications. Two of my cousins applied to the same Fire Service job.....one has lots of first aid courses, nursing courses, cadets etc etc, and she works in fire service 'control', and she got invited to try out for the job etc. Other cousin has very little on his CV and they just put it aside, and didn't even bother with it. Oh, and there were 12 positions and 6,500 applicants.
