OK so my little brother (he's 17, 18 soon) is wanting to build up a jump/trail type bike, it needs to be suitable for ragging round trails in the woods/small jumps and just generally riding around the streets/to work as well. i've got a pretty limited knowledge on this sort of thing so thought i'd ask on here. He's got about £500/600 to play around with. I basically said look for a hard-tail frame, front and back hydraulic discs, decent set of sus forks etc? He looked at the DMR trail star frame which seems to tick the boxes for all of his criteria. Told him to maybe get some Avid Juicy's and then fork out on a better back wheel, or is it worth forking out for some Hope brakes? Yeah so can anyone give me some more advice on this?
