Easton bars feel plasticy and horrible IMO, I much preferred the feel of my old DWs in the oldskool days. But I think it would be worth taking this oppertunity to get an oversized stem and be able to run stiffer, lighter bars like the zoo bars, or even raceface (which I know nothing about but would expect them to be nice). Those FSA DH oversized bars mentioned before feel nice enuff but a bit heavy IMO. If you really dont wanna change the stem, Id go for Roox torque bars, 29 inches wide and lovely
-
Id agree with the above post (Y) Azonic singlewalls are stronger, and more suited to trials. They are a little less flexy (which is one thing I thought felt strangely nice in the DWs), but that only allows you to transfer your weight around more efficiently if anything. They can also be bought in 28" wide
-
I loved my doublewalls, the feel of them was so nice, despite the reasonably hefty weight, and restriction in width compared to some other bars. The Eastons are lighter and stronger, and I thought I would really like the ones I tried, however I for some reason hate the feel of them, and think they feel kinda plasticy. I hate the long reach easton stem even more. I think if you are changing bars, you should consider making the move to oversized 31.8mm bars. They are stiffer and stronger through structure, so can also be built thinner, so they become lighter for equal strength than regular bar clamp bars. Its the way forward, and very suited to trials!

The bounciest stock tyre I ever run by far was an Intense mud tyre, which was surprisingly grippy, and very fun to ride! It was however pretty damn heavy, something like nearly 1.2kg? I never got a pinch on it either. I would at least check out intense tyres, I found them the most fun to ride.
-
A lot of people would say they arent great, but personally, I think they are very good value. At £20 RRP per tyre, it is cheaper, wider, and a little lighter than the more expensive Panaracer DH Pro 2.3. However, I would reccomend something a little lighter for the front end, a Panaracer XC Pro 2.1 was what I used (and happen to be selling if you are interested, but Im not meaning to be biased). 550g or something like that, and pretty grippy too!

Some of that stuff was truely awesome

i wanna know! Whats he riding now?? :">

Ive been waiting for another video from this man, his "Danny Promo Vid" has been one of my very favourite vids since I got it, great music and aggressive style! But by the looks of this, hes improved since that! Music not quite as inspirational, but still sufficiently angry. Anyone know what bars is he running??? Id expect them to be montys, but they look a bit like zoos in the movie to me! I have a 221 aswell, need to change bars soon but I thought Zoos mite b a bit too wide for such a short bike, but those look fine, dunno if they are or not though.
-
Id keep the graphics on, I think it looks orgasmic. Shame it IS made out of a different, lower-grade material than the real zoo though, and has slightly different geometry, but i think they look much better than real zoos! I was tempted to get one but ended up with a 221 instead, so im nt complaining Get some viz anodised black forks on there (with the holes drilled in them- thats what i run, they are very very stiff, but have a bonded steerer apparently), or some echo teams sprayed matt black (cheaper, lighter, but flexier and perhaps a little weaker) and it will look sweet as you like! nice one :)
-
did you spray it a different colour?
-
Theres another way to look at this... Thats what brakes do, they waste/absorb your kinetic energy by stopping you/your wheel. It has to be turned in to some other kinda of energy, be it heat, sound, etc...
-
Awesome. And its in British colour! Makes me want to touch myself in a rampant sexual manner.

Glad to be a help >_<

Manualling a bmx should be easier because of the geometry, but personally I prefer learning on a stock bike (the DJ bike should be great), with a GOOD rear brake. I had a similar mental block caused by a lot of accidents where I looped out onto my back, causing permanent spinal injuries that i still suffer with years later. So I found it hard to regain the confidence in pulling the front up to learn manuals, but i found this way helped: Go onto grass, get used to TRYING to make the bike loop out and just practice jumping off the back before you hit the floor (so you get used to bailing off the back safely). When you are used to this, confidence will be a bit better. Next, get used to pulling up and before looping out, lock the rear brake on so the front shoots back down again and you are safe. these two steps will make your confidence much better because you have a lot less worry of accidents. Now, practice pulling up into the manual balance point. It takes time to learn to get it dialled, but you push your legs out when the front dips, and pull them in when the front is getting too high (and possibly dab on the rear brake if needed). If while practicing you feel yourself falling off the back, you can either use the rear brake, or jump off the back. Hope this helps, Scott p.s. By the way, once you can manual on your dj bike there should be no problem at all then going onto your trials bike and doing it. I learnt on a short-reach setup giant trials team then went straight onto my t-pro and manualled it fine with no probs.

any more news on dragon frames?
-
The thing about the koxx one thought is it looks more like a K O and X merged, whereas the other just looks like a K in a hoop
-
Are you sure the cups are done up enough (if it uses them)? Have you checked the axle to check its not broken/bent?
-
Wow, you learn a thing every day. I used to have a univega mountainbike, I loved it to bits, but I never knew they made trials bikes, although in a film on www.eengoedidee.nl called bs_style (which is a very good video of angry mod riding by the way, you should all get it), i could have sworn that near the beginning when the bike rides past the camera it says "univega on it", but just dismissed the thought thinking it was a monty. But now you say that, I went and checked the video, and there you have it, a Univega mod being ridden insanely well. Anyone else rode one? And what are prices?

Hey heres another tip if you cant be arsed to take off ur rotor and boil it (N) It only takes a minute or two: Ride around with the brake on as solidly as you can with just barely being able to pedal slowly, then ride back to wherever you have a bucket of water, or a mate with a hose, and chuck/hose loads of water all over the rotor instantly, so it steams and hisses, until its cold. Do it a 2 or 3 times and you are sorted. Me and a mate have done this a few times with our disks, it works really really well when you do it right, makes disks so much more grabby!
