  1. Totally agree Every winter, I am tempted to take that "wise decision" before I injure myself beyond repair, and then, summer is on and I can't ride enough... it's not about going bigger or being the best, but simply the instant feelgood factor being on the bike that keeps me going... Plus, a car will suck all your energy, money, and time for getting roadrage and stuck in traffic jams ... is that worth the miserable bling factor? OK if you leave completely out of town, it can be practical, but else... don't bother. But yeah, as stated before, if you want to ride, you'll find the time (just ignore TV or your playstation)
  2. Hey Ben, that gap to front wheel is seriously lethal... , all of you guys did it? That must have been a heck of a show, everything looks so huge, no much room for hesitation. Nice one, thanks for the link
  3. Really nice moves... Definitely want to spend more time on just cool stuff... (not the most practical one, but hey, so sweet to pull )
  4. Really sweet transitions to front wheel... I love that stuff...
  5. Thanks for the comments, yeah, I need to sort out some software... and the I left the long hopping from Peter 'cause it was just going with the music... so I found it amuzing ... But I agree, following the move further makes it nicer... I think, the idea was to show the atmosphere, rather than just selected big or successful moves... But possibly, after more sessions, I'll be able to compile a vid of only the nice moves... (but then it's not a group ride video anymore , 'cause I would have to edit you out ) Just can't wait for better days... Yeah, that ultra smooth bunny hop to manual... ('ve seen your comment on the guestbook... .. you're that beast...)
  6. Yep, wait until it snaps... If you go for nice frames, anyway, there's no reason why you would want to change unless it fails or you've improved so much that a better geometry will help your riding...
  7. Well, frozen to death, except Olly in his T-shirt, 'cause it's only winter after all...
  8. Nice playgrounds too !! I'd love to have some park like this nearby, I reckon I'd get a bmx addiction too...
  9. Yeah, that was a nice balancing act... ... had a play with the sound mixing too
  10. Yep So I have just put up together two vids from the last cambridge ride... (I have added some memory to my PC, so now I can make videos up to... I dunno, but more than 1mn long... So there is a high res version at 29MB to download from the trials forum hosting space (thanks tom ) And a longer lower res version streaming directly onto a webpage (just like before, but with added bits that are not in the high res version because I just decided to add some bits I found on my PC) So enjoy...
  11. --> QUOTE(joe b @ Jan 31 2006, 08:59 AM) ←How do you get to these things? or do you just recieve footage from an 'insider' . Nice vid, big moves! Cheers, Joe. I lived there for over two years and got to know most of the spanish riders pretty well. So when I go and visit some local friends (once in a while), if there is something happening or a comp, I just come along . Returning mid-feb, so if there is some street riding going on, I film it.
  12. Well, anyway, the post is alledgedly an email from Vincent himself, explaining blood test results, and saying the accusations had been completely wrong and misinformed, even though he highlighted the problem himself and will communicate directly with the french cycle federation.
  13. Totally agree on that Else, the single aim of becoming champion could wear you down. But understanding new ways, new techniques and trying them out on the next ride is really a big thrill... then having someone to tell you how to improve is great (it puts you on the good tracks but won't help you go to 53 inch in one go, 'cause you need a lot of fine tuning, so don't worry about missing on the learning experience ). Some days, by really looking and filming, I understood techniques that my mates were using but were not able to share because it was too obvious to them. Then, only by asking them if what they were doing was what I thought, they could just confirm or say otherwise, and from then on, I knew what to practise, etc... So even riding with better riders won't give you all their tricks if they don't know or don't take the time to explain. That's why I am putting in writing (on my website) a lot of observations, even some trivial ones for non-beginners, that helped me improve or learn trials. It's only guidance, because then, you can have so many style at it and it makes it so much more interesting .
  14. Some push ups, stretch legs, arms and wrists... Then strech a bit on the bike... It makes such a difference, and also, you kinda prepare mentally, for me it's part of focusing on trials...
  15. I think all occasions, such as group rides and comps are excellent to learn, and see more subtleties... Then like everything in life, you can learn by yourself, with some free advice available there and there, or you can pay for that little extra attention, support and advice. Can't blame any one for offering the service . Personally, It made such a difference at trials comp in spain, when I had Ramiro exactly telling me where to go and checking on tire grip, wheel positions and encouraging etc... I could just climb stuff I would never have reached on my own...just 'cause I couldn't let him down not trying... We used to create some zones in natural sections, and really count the dabs etc... Else, we would have just repeated what we could already do, without the challenge of trying.
  16. nah... the blocks by the sea side are the olympic harbour jetty in Barcelona (an amazing zone with loads of everything, including natural-ish rocks). That was with my local friend Ramiro.
  17. Right, its' only crispy frosty, with icy patches on every ridable wall... But I am sure that'll be a good start to learn the smooth European style . See you 11: ish at the station
  18. yeah, will teach you how to tap.... tomorrow, yellow thingy at 11... Maybe some day, when I have enough footage of all the good riders out there, I can compile some vids with only one rider per video ... but I don't have enough material for the moment ... But will get there eventually
  19. Yep, just another vid... from the Cesar Trials School.. some bits added together cool shots on site.
  20. the colour is cheap 80´ fluo Pretty much anything else, even a bright yellow would have been better. (though this doesn't affect the quality of the bike)
  21. OK, will check my memory sometime when I clean my PC. I could help you move (tonight, but not on sunday and not most of Saturday cause I am also doing boxes for my own move... ). Else, this is the Cycle Show, the guy does the back flip and lands on his feet. But I had cut the video after the front flip because I didn't know the other would do that...
  22. Alright, I'll give a try at other software. But I think I need more RAM on my PC. Here is a cleaner version in 1mn cuts. with some extra material first round outside Then second round outside and the indoor sections (new footage ) Is it any better? It takes about 4mn to have the videos playing in the page.
  23. Yep, got exactly the same problem with pallets, so if you hook on a wall, you bash your foot but it is kinda ok, if you hook on pallets, the foot gets stuck I was nearly lifting the last pallet with me (at a decent speed bunny hop) Quite scary too... Dunno if there is a specific solution
  24. Thanks Ben, Any suggestions to improve the quality (do you mean the picture quality or the framing and angles of view?) The problem is my PC crashes like 4 times for every video I make , hence, I tend to do minimal editing . What else could I use to my footage? The files are AVI. Also, I don't have a wide angle, so I can't film from too close for these nice follow up effects. Any comments welcome I plan to do more vids if I find an easier way to edit footage for longer runs. It's just too plain difficult at the moment.
  25. Yep, just tried to clean up some footage I have on my PC . so before I loose everything in a major windows crash ... I am compiling some vids Though, with movie maker, my PC crashes for any project longer than 2mn. So here is the first release, the first round at the Cycle Show. Nothing to download, just streaming from the page. Enjoy.
