    Gapping :(

To optimise your gapping, you must kick right when the rear hub is vertical to the rail or gap edge, and when the bike is nearly horizontal. But when you balance on a rail, you're not horizontal at all, and lowering the front wheel actually rolls the rear wheel forward by about a foot (and the rear hub beyond the edge). That's why a backward readjustment hop can be handy, so that when you lean the bike forward, you end up in the perfect position to kick in the pedal. Once you can visualise that, you know exactly what you do. Very often, if you land right in balance, then the pedal kick will lack of power if you don't do a readjustment hop backwards. It 's not just the bounce effect I am talking about. If you don't want to hop, then, you need to land with the rear hub slightly behind, with enough momentum to carry on and lean the bike to the perfect position (that brings the rear hub right at the vertical of the rail) Something I realised when trying to gap further.
  2. hi Chai, could you post some pics of that riding spot? Never been there, and can't go during the week.
  3. Love mines! Very light, and super rigid soles! It's a different world when kicking the pedals, like moving from a shimano freewheel to a tensile! Remind me not to use regular shoes ever again. Plus they are discreet and prevent malleol bashing with maggy cylinders...
  4. yep,.. Wing... wait another 10 years to qualify...
  5. Maybe another hyfroformed frame?, fewer welds/tubes, stronger, lighter? Love the shape, but saddly, as with a lot of their bikes, the colour scheme is just At least they come up with new stuff
  6. Should be able to make it, any day but sunday is best... sorting the bike out this evening... maybe will join John' rant about soft ankles
  7. Nice for the space, this means more settled zones I guess, or more combinations of tracks? Also, Earls court is more centric
  8. Looks like artistic ice skating to me... was gonna say they never use the rear wheel... but yes they do.. manuals are a piss-take for them Still impressive and absorbing if you are into it
  9. plastic zip ties will do on a any grip (5p at your local DIY Mackays), take them thin, choose your colour match too! don't waste money on a spray can!
  10. Personal statement.. that's a school or uni thing? I'd say, Riding over difficult obstacles with a bike, without putting the foot on the ground.
  11. ha ha... Yep, I remember it was such a thrill even going to bash... though, I couldn't even do that after 3 months, well done
  12. Plenty to do in Barcelona , the police won't care most of the time, and all spots (urban or rocks are accessible just riding) There are just so many, I could post a map with the "classic spots" if that can help. Also, warmer and cheaper than Paris. And for a few euros, you can take a suburb train to ride at the Cesar's School if you fancy that.
  13. If you want to pin down your approximate location on the World Map of Trialists... Well, alright, it has been done on many sites... but I thought I would start one too... Amazing what you can do when you can't ride...
  14. Superman Ball faki to face plant... that was class, but yeah... you were lucky not to have a pedal digging into your skull. hope you recover fast. In 2 or 3 weeks, I'll be learning how to ride on a tricycle (if I can manage that )
  15. Red is absolutely fantastic on smooth rims... a bit of tar if you like the super sharp stop. good wear (at least on smooth rims they last very long) My impression is the blue pads did bite a bit more (softer?) No funny wobbling, clean.

    Damon Video 6

That was mental! What a beast! How often do you think about your snappy twisted chain in these big moves? Never is probably the best option.
  17. Absolutely amazing for photoshoot Id'say! Super Class spot! Can't go wrong with this type of architecture!
  18. I'll give you a call, this afternoon could be alright... but rather from 3 or 4pm onwards or so...
  19. Hi Chris, I'll be away on Sunday, but on Saturday I'll turn up with my camera if you go riding the usual spots. Sorry but I still can't ride trials for another 3 weeks... then I'll be useless for a while
  20. Yep, that works on small and medium Ts. If I do another series next year, I'll try with another model, larger around the neck. Though, I don't have that problem with Large Ts.
  21. Really really cool pics, love the london wall gap with your green bike!!! and the London Castle background... all so sharp... Adam's Japanese schoolgirls fan club made me laugh out loud Well, no pics of you... that's what happens when you start taking pics
  22. no chain tensioner??? Is this the short or long?
  23. Basically, sizes are Medium (34/36") or Large (38/40"), in black or olive. I have a few orange too. Just send me a quick email and I'll get back to you The photos don't make them justice. They are better in real life ... true
  24. right... I am just back from the shop, got my Ts delivered, and posted a few already. Very glad with the colours (I am not gonna post pics of the fancy ones I made for myself and missus , but here is a pic of the Ts I'll keep in limited stock, for the good cause )
