**sprints downstairs to check** Woah, had me worried there for a moment. Nah, they're not cracks, its just that the frame was origianally designed as a disc only frame, but the avid mechanicals I ran snapped the frame, so clive had to do a bit of hasty rewelding to get it back to me in time for the next comp, looks a little more sloppy than Leesons usual standard, but apparently Clive got in the post at about 10am, had finished rewelding it by 3pm, and Kris got it to the Post Office for the five o'clock post. that includes stripping the frame of components (I just sent the whole bike), and installing and setting up a V-brake (now replaced with magura). When it comes to drilling parts on your bike, its the parts that take the least stress of all that people just totally seem to look past, i.e, grips and seat (my mini seat has all the bits underneath it cut out to save weight.) Note: it is only adviseable to try this with lock on grips which have the plastic inners. Ask Tic about my attempted drilling of normal grips... Rich

Finally got my leeson together with all the new parts, thought I'd whack up a few pics to see what people thought; Things I love about it are that this is one of the shortest stock frames there is, measuring in at 993mm in wheelbase (with lyte guys), the middleburns (with custom leeson bashring) are approaching their 5th birthday, the whole bike, despite having a steel frame, weighs in at about 21lbs, and of course it has all the innovation Leeson can throw at it. '05 HS33 with carbonique booster, Heatsink batch B 2005 pads, D521 rim, maxis minion tyre and NSE mini seat. Try-All bars (aproaching their 3rd birthday), XTR front brake (with upside down rear lever...) koski stem (no stem cap), drilled out Lock on grips, Lyte guys forks and an FSA orbit UF headset (red, coloured in with black marker pen...) Radially laced American Classic Micro 68 on mavic XM719. Sub 500grams... Oh and a Panaracer Fire XC Pro, still going strong. Also, after deciding to get a jump/street/slalom bike, managed to find a full Trek Bruiser, (it came with beastly rigids on it) for 250quid brand new (www.paulscycles.co.uk). For what it cost, its sodding amazing. As I said, it came with some Trek rigid forks on it (which weighed more than the marrazochi's...) but I found some old EXR Comp's in the shed, took the crappy stickers off, whacked 'em on and they seem to work quite nicely. Everything about this bike is just basic; promax V-brakes, truvative cranks, bontrager finishing kit, it all just works and works well, and for what I spent on it I'm pretty happy. Well, hope you like them, now I've just got to wait for the beasly scars on my ankles to heal, and then teach myself to walk again before I can swing a leg over either of them. Life goes on... Rich

God I want to ride some comps again, bransgore sounds like too much fun... Should be off crutches on the 22nd (march) and then I will be riding, they just feel really stiff now. But I will be at Doneys in April for the playday thing, so probably see you there. Rich

Just full on wheeler idiocy... Looked pretty painful on his elbow hitting the post. Nice one tic. How was the hampshire comp the other day? Rich
-
Perhaps this has already been covered in another post, but how exactly did you break it? If you don't mind me asking of course. And how come they took the screws/pins out? The three in my ankles are apparently staying in for the next 50 years (they said in that time my body acids would have eaten away enough of them rendering them useless... *wonders if i'll live that long*) Get well soon man Rich

The guys is probably a very apt and able engineer, but his expertise may not span out far enough to make a good trials frame; Leeson engineering and inginuity got round that, its going to be interesting to see how this guy copes with it. Rich

Nice one Nadine. Thought I'd upload a few for the hell of it. Island Style (faceplant) Me screwing my back at a hampshire comp Full Island Style Crash Section All on Eengoedidee. Enjoy Rich

Any chance someone can upload it? Downloading your vid now Nadine... EDIT; I would laugh, bu that looked pretty painful. Were you laughing or crying? T'was a good crash either way. Rich

If these guys can make it work, it'll be a hell of a lot easier to persuade other town councils in other areas that its a good idea, by showing them an example of this one. Thats why I'm supporting it, dispite living a good 200 miles away from it. Rich

Does anyone have the video of Martin Fricker (I think) on his giant, going from the bench to the wall and doing one of the hardest faceplants I've ever seen. Havn't seen that in ages... Might upload the vid later of my break slipping at a hampshire come and dumping me off the back. Rich

Loving the whole weight-lifting-with-children stuff, and the "just doing some fine adjustments..." to your hand... with a razor blade... Very cool riding though, and that vinco is stupidly long... Rich

Name-Rich Pearson Town-Taunton How long riding trials-5 years Would you be prepared to travel to the park- Yes (eventually...) email adress-karsonlevoret@hotmail.com i am signing this form on my be half to support the trials park in crook Rich Pearson Why not just only let in people with ACU or BIU licences (or any other kind of license)? You could work it out with the council that people only get let in with a license, or in the company of a license holder, and any one else in there is tresspassing, so if you see someone in there who so obviously isn't allowed and is making a nuisence of themselves (tell me you're not going to care if a couple of kids stop by to watch..) you call the police who come and chuck 'em out for not having a license. If the coppers have got time to kick us off the streets, then they have time to police a trials-park. Plus it will create an incentive for more people to get licenses and compete once they have them, helping the sport expand. Thats the best idea I've got, good luck fellas... Rich

So when you click on the link in this post, is it the first one on the list that comes up? Rich

Cardiff is good if you know what you're looking for and where. Would have come up but still got buggered feet... Rich

The triple backflip or double forward flip has to be in the pipeline somewhere... Loving it on his first landing, all you hear is the guy behind the camera saying "f**k..." Mentalist... Rich

Thats how I remember trials, and those spinny things kicked ass. Its just got a little to serious on the worlds circuit now. Just a thought, when I saw Martyn Ashton at a demo the other day, I asked him what the best move he'd ever seen was, and he said that at Itadori 94, Petr Kraus gapped across basically an entire section, which everyone else fived, and its a move no-one else has ever done. Was wondering if there's a video floating around somewhere... Rich

One of the better NBR videos I thought, really nice riding. Simple but good. Rich

I don't know about everyone else, but I never ride anywhere where theres lots of people for that exact reason. Even If I have to go through somewhere like the pedestrianised areas where theres loads of people, I just get off and push untill I get out the other side. When the guys in Taunton got busted, there was NO-ONE around, it was a sunday and everything was closed. Thanks for all the comments though, and I second Tics idea of a mass Taunton ride (anyone is welcome to come down whenever they want by the way...), I ain't kidding when I say this, we have the most pissy cops and traffic wardens in the whole of devon. Even the street sweepers start hyperventilating at someone riding a bike! Rich
