  1. my bank balance was at £0 last month, if a few things go ahead like I'm hoping then I may earn more money this year than the last two put together.....I'm not trying to get my hopes up too much though.
  2. you're going to struggle to find a super grippy front tyre at 500g, one option could be a Kenda Nevegal 2.1 stickee compound. It's 600g (still light) and grippier than most pure XC tyres though it's not quite Maxxis or conti DH compound.
  3. I hear that's Gille's new outfit for this year, I wonder how many people will follow? Fashion jokes aside riding was pretty dece, some of the places looked pretty fun...same place I've seen OT Pi ride in the past maybe?
  4. Neither of them are "soft" compounds. Not all black chilli is the same.
  5. Bmxers tuck to the opposite side to trials riders as it feels more natural in spins, trials riders tuck the other way so the pedal doesn't hit the wall on the way up as much. Obviously you get goof riders who bend the rules, but the above reasons are generally true.

    Films!?

Saw Pan's Labyrinth the other night. I was pleasantly surprised. it was a lot darker and adult than I had thought and quite violent in places. it kept me interested throughout. I'd have liked a little more detail about Pan's "alternative" world, but I'd still rate it a 8/10
  7. ah yeah, if I rode in traffic I would be cutting them down, but as it is now if feels really nice to blast down the promenade in Blackpool. Kinda tempted to cut them down anyway but I'm pretty lazy when it comes to things like that everything

    Benito Ros 2013

he does some pretty ridiculous saves on those up to fronts! Sooooo bouncy!
  9. haha yeah it's a bit Marmite, I don't really know why I like it but I do....perhaps I just like the general shape of my bike rather than the colour but I think it works overall. Can't say I'm into Bull horn or drop bars though, I've got 3" riser bars and it still feels low and long....feels like I'm holding a pushup for the entire ride and my arms ache like hell.
  10. This is my fixie started off as a 1984 Orbit touring frame (Reynolds 531). I cut the bottom of the dropouts off and welded them back on so they faced the correct way, got rid of the gear bosses and seatstay bridge. Not so keen on the cranks but the whole thing was bit of a budget build.
  11. I would never call that landing anything other than a flat landing. Fair play to him for not breaking his foot though!
  12. if the bike is for indoor skateparks I highly recommend finding the Shwalbe tyres I mentioned, they are the best I've used by far.
  13. If you're riding skateparks I'd opt for as slick as possible. Nobbly tyres will be slippier and really really slow. The Tiogas will be best for parks, but 2.1" is a little narrow...I have a pair of 24" Shwalbe super motos in 2.3" and they are amazing in parks, pretty slick, good size and amazing grip on wood and concrete. They hate wet street though.

or they could stop doing it anyway?

Who's been hating on TGS? As I've said repeatedly in this thread and others I enjoy all aspects of trials. With the evidence in this thread and many many previous ones I'd say it's the TGS style riders who have a problem with the 24" lot, not the other way around. In an ideal world everyone would just appreciate all trials, but unfortunately every personality is different and there will be clashes.

    1) I don't have a blog 2) sliders done right don't flex wheel or forks 3) so am I 4) I'm not hiding behind anything 5) I don't think I'm the life and soul of anything forum related, I don't post on here that often, only when I see really cool things, or really bad things. I'm not sure how you possibly get the idea I'm the demise of anything? I didn't start this argument and the only reason it's carrying on is that you continue to post things that segregate riders. I like EVERY type of riding yet because some people come and post bullshit and I end up defending myself or the type of trials I enjoy doing at the moment I get labelled as "negative". If a few narrow minded people saw trials as a whole rather than just the type they do then everyone would be much happier.

Why should it? If you're worried you're going to damage your bike doing them then you're obviously not very skilled at them and should practice more, though admittedly it will be harder on a bike set up for natural, but not impossible. Your replies seem to be going down hill a little now, perhaps half cab sliders are the limit of what you call trials? Though I'd still disagree as it's just a way of turning around rather than a "trick". Taking the piss out of having a blog is poor form too.

but they feel sooo good! Plus it's a highly efficient way of turning around.
  19. good luck finding anywhere in the UK that stocks it

I'm sure if Damon or Neil actually entered with a good creative video they'd have done really well, If people don't enter they won't win. I may have mis-read you but "is there a place for displays of pure talent?" Are you suggesting that people who ride TGS are the only ones with "pure talent"? Again I may not have got read that in the way intended

As I said before though, there shouldn't be a limit to what a trials rider can do. you've made a choice with your bike setup that allows you to do some moves bigger/further but you've sacrificed the ability to bunnyhop and spin well. I have absolutely no problems with that at all. The only issue I have is that people who can ride on rocks AND do 360 bunnyhops get told we're riding over sized BMXs and don't ride trials. I completely understand that some moves have come from BMX but that's the beauty of the types of bike we ride, we can do it all and that's the fundamental spirit of trials that attracted me at the start. I'd argue that my 24" inspired is more of a trials bike in the purest essence than a long bike that actually makes a lot of things impossible, but again I have no issue with long bikes (I rode one for years) but I think people need to accept there's more than one way to ride a bike.

I still want to know where people's point of no return is. I feel 360 pivot drops are accepted in trials despite not really having much use, however I think if you did a 360 bunnyhop drop which is harder, that wouldn't be accepted. I ride the same bike as Mark and I'd consider it a trials bike of the purest type, I can ride everything on it, however I can't do a lot of moves to the biggest degree. But that is my choice, I like how I can ride everything and I am willing to sacrifice height of a few moves to get that. The road bike argument isn't the same. riding bikes from place to place is as essential as walking, yet when I walk to the kitchen I am not called a "walker" I am just "going" to the kitchen, same with riding a bike from place to place...all I am doing is "riding".

serious question, when is the change over? Am I allowed to do a 360 pivot drop? Or how about a stoppie? If Stoppies are allowed then the next step up from that in difficulty is a nose manual which a lot of people may not say is trials, but why not celebrate doing something that is harder than with brakes? Is the location the turning point? I know a few people are commenting that he's riding in a skatepark, if he was on some rocks carved by the wind to be ramp shapes would that be better? I'm not having a dig I'm just curious, there has to be some point in peoples minds where the limit has been crossed.
