Ended up buying a Rockshox Revelation fork for £100 yesterday, it's ok, usual marks for a 5~ year old fork, deffo needs a service though, the thing I'm happy about is that I've just found a pair of brand new Fox Floats with the upgraded FIT system locally on Gumtree for £210. I popped the Rockshox on ebay for £140 and I'm already getting interest (had an offer for £120 which I've counter offered at £130). Bearing in mind I would have had to pay to get the forks serviced to get working properly I don't mind paying a little bit more for a shiny new modern Fox which will work better than the Rockshox ever would. Edit, just sold the Rockshox for £130, very handy

fuuuck that's fast! so casual too....love how stealth the bike sounds too

That's good to know about the forks My gf is also about 5'4", if the 16" is too big I'll just sell up the frame and look for something a little smaller, I had been looking at the WSD fsr Specializes but it's not often they come up as frames I'm hoping making the bike comfier, grippier and easier to stop will make riding more fun for Jane, she's really keen to ride but finds it pretty terrifying at the moment. I'm sure she'll grow to like it if she keeps at it though. Related (kinda) we both went to Rise trampoline park today and she was shitting herself about that too, mostly the idea of going upside down. After a few mins getting used to it she eventually tried front flips and very nearly landed a few to feet I am happy cos I managed frontflips, backflips and backflip 180s Can't wait till the one next to my flat opens

really enjoyed this, I love your style

good stuff guys! Need longer videos, that went too quickly

good stuff, what size did you go for? That's my only worry with mine. She already has a Cannondale hardtail which she got sold at Evans from someone who obviously wanted a sale rather than helping her get the correct bike, it's far too long for her and she got put off riding as she was stretched out and didn't like how harsh it was. The Trek is the same size (16") but with a shorter reach so as long as we can get the seat height good then we should be onto a winner I'm hoping she'll enjoy it and let me sell the Cannondale to recoup some of the costs, but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't fit or she wants to keep the 'dale, to get the Trek up and running with mostly hope/Magura/shimano parts should be in the range of £500

Found a Trek EX8 WSD frame and shock on ebay which had a link to a shop selling the same item for £30 less (free postage too), just found someone less than a mile from me selling some Rockshox revelations which I've haggled down to £100 so I'm happy with that too, means I can afford to get them serviced if needed (which I can get done at mates rates).

I saw an advert posted at my local climbing centre for that, unfortunately I only noticed it 3 days after the closing date, gutted

finally found a MTB frame suitable for my GF at a good price

super cool, you're the only person I've seen throw barspins and tuck no handers, I've been trying them for years and just can't get the hang of them. I'd love to see a longer street edit of you!

I found EBC red pads to have bit of a soft feel, they have power but not as good bite as a sintered pad, still a good option though but personally I really like fibrax/aztec sintered pads.

"you've been sodomised 4" I can imagine Harry Hill's voice overs and canned laughter during scenes haha

we got one of those delivered at the flat the other day, they are pretty cool and ideal for making gopro footage look a bit more professional. I got a little bored in the video and stopped watching, I'll give it another try now. I wasn't keen on how rushed his riding seemed, I'd rather he slowed down a tad and made it look more controlled (not that I could ever go as big as he is even how fast he's doing it) Still my fave comp rider though, more style than the rest.

I've not had to touch mine yet.

I'm using the mt5 8.1 pads which is their bog standard pads.
-
The MT5 is decent, it's not quite as powerful as an MT7 due to the differences in the lever (they use the same calliper though) but they'd still be my choice over the newer shimanos.
-
I think the disc levers a a lot more compact and stout, I don't have any strength worries with mine, don't hate on all carbotechture. Strength and reliability is one of our main goals when we talked about what we want from our brakes.....no idea on a time frame sorry.
-
maybe, but now it's limited to only what Magura make haha. For cereal though, pretty excited about finally being able to give input into a brake rather than just relying on brakes made for other disciplines. Not sure on the dislike on Carbotech, I've never had an issue personally but I've not used one of the newer HS33s, hopefully if people have had bad experiences with them they can put them aside and enjoy the disc versions.

almost the same as...... I understand there's only a number of ways suspension can be layed out though, I'd like the frames to be a little taller personally, they are almost trials-like in that the triangles are almost inverted....not cool.
-
I have said before that I don't mind a wee curve by the headtube, it's when you get bikes like Montys and Neons that just look really horrible.
-
best.stock.bike.ever* *if the bb was lower Seriously though, that to me is the benchmark bike, light but not fragile, not toooo extreme geo, front disc so it can be ridden quietly and pimped out tot he max!

that's to take out any "egging" that sometimes happens with sprockets not sitting on the axle perfectly, the tapered washer means the cog always sits completely centrally and you don't get tight or lose points in the chain.
