    High Vs Low

I have had my hi fi for a few days now. At first I was a bit worried I had made the wrong desision as I couldnt do ANYTHING on it! I have got used to it a bit more now and I love it, I cant tap anywhere near as high as I could, but fromt friends expirience of high bbs, it comes with time and then taps get a lot higher. I couldnt gap at first, but now I am going further than I could before, I almost landed a 9ft static (slighty sloped though). I LOVE doing sidehops on this bike, I can easily go to back wheel on walls I was struggling to get up at all on other frames, it just floats up. one thing I have found the high bb is amazing for is pigeons (wheelswaps?) I was sooo close to doing a 42" wheelswap. I can also bunnyhop and manual this bike easier than I could my 1065 pure. I have ridden a coust a while back, I wasnt impressed.

    2005 Control

The hi fi is a backup frame for when I dont have a global, I did hae a pure, but it was knackered (so I sold it to iolo ^_^ ) I am waiting for the new global frame at the mo, so I am riding the hi fi.

    2005 Control

my hi fi without a booster is stiffer than my pure with an xtr booster
  5. I think brakes on the underside of the seatstays would be good, you need the brake to work most when you are on the edge of soming after hopping up onto it, so the bikes wanting to go backwards, the same direction as the brakes work best.
  6. I have found these work very well at stopping your ankle from rolling over, they have very good support but still leave plenty of fredom to do trials. I cant say I have ever really hurt my ankles riding, I am suffering from traumatic arthritis in both my thumbs though, which is very painful. I used have have a very sore shoulder, but thats sorted its self out now.
  7. not trials specific, but good biking shoes are the 661 dualies, they have ankle protection so its harder to roll your ankle. they are £45 from chain reaction

    2005 Control

I have to agree about the stiffness of the rear, there is no frame flex what so ever!
  9. please please please dont get orange, its such a horrid colour  I would go with silver personally
  10. cant say Ive seen anyone in lycra at any of the comps I have been to for the past 5 years, I dunno where youve been looking. Even in the vinco pics there is no lycra
  11. I am using 16-14, this is the only setup I have never had any probs with, never snapped a chain.

    Trials..

to be brittish champ in masters, might take a while though B)" anyone know where akkers lives?
  13. might want to pm phil williams (totaltials/selectbikes) as I believe he is the only person to have had one, or maybe find out who he sold it to and ask him
  14. I could handle that, its like going out on the tiles. Still wouldnt enjoy the whole thing though, I am a very miserable b*****d.
  15. do you have to wear suits? You couldnt pay me enough to wear one of them, if I went I would just go in my riding clothes.
  16. true, oh the joys of ti
  17. I found monty grips tore really easily, the slightest knock they were gone. I REALLY reccomend ritchey foam grips, they are a bit fat, but dont let that put you off, they are really amasing grips, totally diferent foam to montys, and a much better feel
  18. I also havnt snapped one for a few years, the last hanger I snapped was when I had got my echo pure, I just bodged one from my lbs and I havnt snapped one yet

    Bmx Questions

as your manualling, start to turn as if your gonna manual in a big circle, as your body drops to the side to start turning you wanna bunnyhop, but as your doing the hop, just before the back wheel comes off the ground, you wanna make it turn in a tighter circle so it flicks you around a bit more. sorry if that more complicated than it needs to be, I am not the best at explaining moves
  20. ugh! you couldnt pay me enough to go to one of these proms, although I dont think the fact I didnt like ANYONE at my school helped. Mike, I NEVER want to see you in a suit again! it makes you look too succsessful.
  21. youve gotta be kidding! The only "extreme" street I have seen is craig and neil doing their big gap drops and things, most people seem to be into the spins and manuals, that reminds me of sycronised ballet cycling (it really exists) <those guys are doing waay more impressive things than every "wanna be bmxer" I have seen. You may have been unfortunate to have only seen muddy comps, but you should see the uci comps, they are nuts, and I call riding on an uneven slippy rock 20ft up more extreme than street. sorry for the rant, it just really get on my tits when people say street is more extreme than natural. I agree with the buying lots of raffle tickets to rais funds for the brit round of the world champs.
  22. well, after phils advice about lower bars, I put my 10mm spacer ontop of the stem, I then went and nearly did my 50" tap first time, ended up blunting it. I stuck at it and got it 4 times (Y) I always knew about the lower bars thing (honest) but never thought it actually made much difference.
