  1. I havnt been too impressed with the juicys that have come on bikes in for repairs in my shop......seem to be on the same par as shimano disks, looads of modulation but no bite...................amazing lever feel though, really comfy
  2. I aint gonna reccomend any actual components, but I will say that after a few years of using stiffer 31.8mm clamp, I am wanting to go smaller, I miss the extra flex it gives, makes the bike rider a bit livlier I recken. just somthing you might wanna consider?
  3. ok, I have a 180 magura marta caliper (160 virsions are easier to get at cheaper prices though) and a shimano xt lever. I got my caliper from the shop I work at trade price for £35........there are often 160mm martas on ebay for about £40 onwards for a full disk. I then got a shimano xt lever off ebay for £9 I am using standard maggie hosing and a mix of maggie and shimano fittings, they woulod cost about £10 at most. You can pick up rotors on ebay for about £20 so that totals at £74 for a mint brake!! It just takes a little patience to wait for the parts to come up. oh, and to whoever said magura disks are shit..... I presume you used the older virsions? they did have a habbit of leaking and pumping up. The newer maggies are MUCH better, very powerful. Another key point to maggies that is often over looked is that the hose goes directly in the top of the caliper, making it very hard to hit and damage.....unlike hopes and avids which have a 90degree connection on the side of the caliper. I hit my hope on on my 2nd ride, and it undid the bolt, causing fluid to go all over my disk and pads!!
  4. good job I looked :) Shimpley glen is better for me as its dead simple to get a train there, not so at addingham. Gonna be fun riding on the frost :- Cya there
  5. I am from yorkshire, I am ard, out in minus 5 in a t shirt :) :-
  6. I have one, but I also find it hard to hold, I always get blisters, so it puts me off using it. I have got just over 12000 on it got it for £8 too :)
  7. my views are that there are no advantages of a long mod. I aint short and I loved the short wheelbase monty. A short mod is good for bunnyhops, twisty stuff, tech stuff, balencing on small rocks etc etc Long mods are harder to to bunnyhop, twist, on tech stuff and cant fit on as small rocks, no point tapping a mod either when a short mod can easily be bunnyhoped or backwheeled up. If they are too small, then get a stock.
  8. yep, mine froze tonight, 2nd time its ever happened to me, pretty funny  gonna bleed with antifreeze tomorrow though
  9. I need to bleed my brakes again tomorrow with ani freeze, went out riding today and after 10 mins my back brake was totally frozen, making my bike unridable lol
  10. lol, it was your bike that I probably hated the mostest out of any I have ever ridden, its like a bloody pogo stick
  11. narr not lollipop sticks, they cost, he goes and cuts down branches, cheaper that way. Narr, I believe curtis waaaaaaaaaaaay over price their frames, I remember Iolo saying somthing like the same tubing costs £100, or somthing like that, curtis then add £400 for labour and they still snap!! You can get tubing from £60 for a full bikes worth, wont be super light but it will do the job.
  12. easton EA70s are nice so are onza carbons oh and azonic b52 are super, but also super exspensive.
  13. I have ridden many a mod, but the only one that I actually LIKED was the monty 221, it just felt dialled, super comfy and enhanced my riding (almost 9ft static gap after 5 mins of beig on one!) the WORST riding mod I have ridden is the zoo python, nasty nasty bike!
  14. ohhhh believe me, there are better riding bikes than a python  in fact, the python is on my list of all time worst riding bikes ever!! get the zip, its nice geo than the python and its a british company and it doesnt have great big ugly green stickers.
  15. I consider myself a full time rider and I only ride about once a week
  16. yep, I would rather like the 6 speed one
  17. ohh, wind proof sounds good, as long as they ar still nice and thin (not like those winter waterproof gloves that are FAAAAT) My gloves are dead, so let us know about those wind proofs and I will probably get some :S Also Mr Porter, if you get some gloves, make sure they arnt tight around your wrist, a looser fit will reduce the arm pump you got.
  18. I know you dont need to calm down, I used to be pretty depressed and unhappy, but the way you see life and the way you live it inspired me, I now try to live the same way, life is too short to be unhappy. topics like this are a little confusing, your topic was closed, if it was mine I would just be thinking "Ohwell, whats for tea?" but you almost seem to take it personally? same with other people too, cinda conflics your " be happy" atitude, but then again, thats the message your trying to portray, dam I am confused :S Ps, this has actually turned into a nice discussion, good thread wayne!
  19. yeah, I have never got pissed off at anyone on here, never had a heated discussion or anything. I just dont really understand how people get so pissed off when topics are closed :S Its just a topic, the mods dont have a grudge on people.....get over it, the sun will still come up tomorrow. :P
  20. I recken people take this forum too seriously.....you included wayne :S A topic was closed, it doesnt matter......its just a forum. You always say people should chill out wayne :P
  21. at my shop I have built a few bikes with hayes cable disks, they might not be the same as yours but I am pretty impressed with them, straight out of the box they are pretty powerful.
  22. *think* they are from £200 upwards
  23. Iolo should be seting up his buisness in jan, so if you wait a little bit he will make you a mint frame!!
  24. Hi steve, I have some vee backings I could fill for you to use on the rear, also would be interested in maggie pads too :( many thanks
