everythings new, new chain, new cassette and new cog.

I am using a sram x7 with a shortened cage, its not locked, but they have a design where it doesnt bang on the chainstays, so it doesnt need locking in that sence. I dont really want to lock it anyway, makes getting the wheel out a pain. I might just get some singlespeed specific cogs for each gear, the deeper profile would help I recken.

thats what I am using, works a treat, goes into all cogs fine, but the chain skips when I put power down in every gear but my fave, its pretty annoying

I have no idea what my mech is, I bought it brand new for £1 at a jumble sale yesterday I cant take the jockey wheels off either (dont ask, I just cant) so I cant space them out.

I am trying to sort the gears on my hope as well, its proving tricky. I think I have an 8spd cassette, but I cant remember for sure, I am using a narrow kool chain too and I cant get it to stop skipping! I have just about got it running smoothly in my preffered gear, but I aint too hopful about the others working well (I am using a 7 spd friction shifter too, so that cant be the cause.

Anyway, I got chosen to ride at the euro indoor champs, so thats cool, would have been a pain to get back from that on the tuesday and set off again on wed or thursday have a good time guys!

I agree with ben, everyone pigionholes everyone into a category. Back when I started there was just riding, we tried everything. I feel I am the same now as I was then, one day I might like to go and do big taps, gaps and so on, but the next day I might wanna go fast and spin and so on. No actually sod that, if I am out on a ride and I see a nice tap, I'll try it, if I see a nice wall ride, I'll try that too. anyway, what was the topic again? I would say a decent rider can gap 7ft, tap 44" and sidehop 43", I wouldnt be dissapointed with those measuments at all, but theres more to distance

I would love to come, but only really if I can get a lift, I'll try and get iolo to come, he could maybe give chris a lift as well

cheers for the replys guys I REALLY like bangor, so many good lines!! a rhino in a gap up to a wall, but you start it earlier and slam your rear wheel into the curb to get height and distance, but we like to call things after animals. A rhino tends to ram into stuff pretty hard, so the name stuck.

tough choice........ I have had 3 hopes and ALL of them broke within a week! (my falt, I always hit the hose where it goes into the side of the caliper) one of them I rode 3 times, every time I hit that hose and I got fluid all over my disk and pads. They have immense power though, and are light. the avid has awesome stopping power, more adjustability and a cable is easier to replace than hosing. But they are heavier, kinda fragile (I am on my 5th in two years) and the cable can get manky. I would personally rather have a magura louise fr, but if it MUST be out of those two, I would have the avid unless the hope was super cheap.
