  2. yep, specialised have been there done that! They use a shock with an oil filled tube with a weight on a spring, when the bike hits a bump, the weight is forced down and it exposes a valve that allows the suspension to be active. on the flat the weight remains in the same place and blocks the valve locking the shock out. The "brain" needs to be as vertical as possible for it to work (hence some funny looking shocks on the epics. Is only upwards mostions that open the valve too, so pushing on the saddle or pedaling forces doesnt effect it making the bike pretty efficient. its a smart idea though, simple but clever.
  3. kings are over priced especially when you add in the extras you need, hd axle, funn bolts and steel freehub body! even then the flanges still snap. I had a king for 3 years, it was cool, but things kept snapping and eventually I couldnt get it to stop skipping (near full rotations). I have had my hope for a year now, I broke a bearing in two weeks, but it was a different bearing to what they use now and it didnt help with me not putting the hub back together properly! Even with the bearing shagged, it still has never skipped! its been the most matenence free bike part I have owned (other than my front hub)

  13. they are meant to be threaded though? thats how bolts work. anyway, if they are stripped. you could drill thought the bash and just run long bolts and nuts (depending on setup).
  14. would look nicer with a lower bb
  15. local bikeshope Ride-On are involved, I will ask them. Not sure if the scheme you said would be totally apropriate as ita all un manned, but we'll see.
  16. yeah, TOO HIGH!!!!!!!!!! my ashton proto will be mint with 15-20mm rise

  18. havnt asked yet, no doubt somthing will come about when the presintation is done, but as it is riding is encouraged up there, theres no disclamers or anything, so maybe they are sitting on a time bomb, but there must be somthing that can be done otherwise it wouldnt have gotten off the starting block.
  19. only ever seen 2 people shooting rabbits and a couple of dog walkers, its on the moors with no lights or anything, its not shomwhere chavs go. Its going to be unmanned, so paying for stuff like parking might be difficult, I'll ask about it though.
  20. theres going to be a 30 mile xc loop, plenty of xc riders will drive for that so I should think there will be camping and stuff, I cant promise that its in the same quarry though....I'll ask about it next time I speak with them, I agree that it would be dead handy to have.
